I hate reading fiction books. And i have to read one for my english class.

Just read the book and do the assignment, thats a sure fire way to get the best possible mark. ;)

Do what i do, read the books of the movies you like. Really knowing the ending doesent ruining it and some books it helps you under stand the movie. Like the godfather, i thought the movie was fair but once reading the book i love the movie.

Er...why exactly do you hate reading fiction? What's about it that annoys you the most?

You sir! Are you suggesting plagierism?
No, you should still read the book. Use Spark notes or Cliff Notes to help you understand and comprehend the book better. You'll need that to analyze the book, which you will surely be asked to do. They are no substitute for reading the book, though.

I hate reading books and im probably one of the few people who really hates it.

I did not grow up reading chapter books. I only read non fiction books with pictures and stuff.

I like history and science non fiction but i cant stomach reading any fiction books.

I dont know how im going to do it. Anyone know of a way to do a book report without reading it? Or any advice on how to get through this...

This is a college english class thats required for most students. Theres no way around this i wont be able to graduate without this.

Well, you're paying for this service which they offer & provide, aren't ya?

If you can't suck it up and read one fiction book so you can grauduate from high school, then you've got some problems.

If you dont want to read the book then dont.

I still say reading fiction books is boring...

Anyway i went to special ed. so i didnt have to read that many fiction books for reports.

And this is in college and its college level crap so its even more boring because we dont get to choose our books.

If you truly can't understand what they're talking about, get the Spark or Cliff notes, and read the part on the next chapter, then read the actual chapter in the book. Once you know what's going on, it's a lot easier, trust me.

But if you can understand it, and just don't want to read....well, tough luck. Learn to love to read, or your life is probably going to suck.

Then get the Spark notes for Hamlet, and read the first chapter in it, then the first chapter of Hamlet, then the second chapter of the Sparks, then the second chapter of Hamlet, and so forth....

You think that's bad, I had to read some older English than that earlier this semester, Chaucer's time. I had to memorize the first 18 lines of the Canterbury Tales, simply crazy.

If you think you're happy now, you have no idea how happy you would be if you read fiction regularly. :p

Yikes. I read the caterburys tales in highschool and it is just not understandable even though its translated.

I couldnt make heads or tales of it, its much worse then shakespears.

I am with you Xanikk. I hate reading fiction books to. I would just get the asignment done ASAP and the hopefully after the degree, you will not have to read another fiction book again.

You think that's bad? I've had to memorize the first ~200 lines of the Aeneid, and it's only been a month since the course started. :p

The secret of mastering Shakespeare is to remember the modern interpretation of each scene, and to identify each life-sucking, humourless, soul-destroying joke, and pretending it's a riot.

Here endeth the lesson.

That's really strange in what sense of education does remembering the first two hundred lines of a book enable you to learn about a work, surely a better use of your time would be spent in reading it an understanding it's context and underlying message. In some subjects it's a good idea to remember commonly used laws and axioms, but literature certainly doesn't fit into this. It sounds like a party trick rather than something that will help your ciritical skills, kinda like suggesting remembering the worlds capitals will enable you to understand geography better.

OP It really sounds like you chose the wrong subject, it's going to be hard to do well in a subject where you don't enjoy the media.

Well, the Aeneid lines are about five times shorter than lines in a regular book.
