I hate sterotypes about college

There is also a big difference between drug users and addicts. The only drugs I do now are for medical reasons (gastric acid suppressants) and self-experimentation. (various nootroopics)

But I've done the more recreational sort when I was a young bastard. People who never done any drugs are usually close-minded, holier-than-thou kind of people who despite their cleanliness have partaken in various other transgressions.

Nootropics? I must research this. I know the word from somewhere.

The people who have literally never done any drugs are rare as hen's teeth.

Caffeine is the most widely used drug. Closely followed by alcohol.

Sex can be an addiction as well. But now I'm straying off the point, somewhat.

i agree with you K, they seem to think they are a better person because they haven't had a toke of something passed around at a party. And people who think they are superior to others are just unbearable IMO.

Weellll, that's an arrogant generalizing assumption.

The only drug I'm addicted to is caffeine.

It's seriously got a stranglehold on my life. Thank god the drug is dirt cheap and available in a family-friendly environment - otherwise I might be forced into a life of crime and anal rape

Anal rape? I think you mean $30 bjs in seedy bathrooms and back alleys.

It is a personal observation based on my own experience. I was myself for the longest time a guy who never did any drugs, but did not judge others for it. It the judging I find bothersome, especially with a few of my lawyer friends who think their choice of profession gives them a divine mandate to preach against everything they do not understand or have never tried. And that is sadly, true of most other people too.

Well I am a better person. I don't need drugs to have a good time. I am open for suggestions why I should have them.

nobody is going to want to be friends with you or be with you with that attitude

I don't think not doing drugs makes you a better person. But I don't think doing them does either.

no, not that, because you think your better then everybody else.

..and people not doing drugs think they're better than everybody else... ?

<snip>

I have no problem about you not trying it though. I don't feel I need to lord it over you. I think it's unfortunate that you have to be so closed-minded about this subject, and I think a little experimentation never hurt anybody. But I mean if that's how you want to be you're perfectly entitled to it.

Just for the record though, your holier-than-thou attitude is exactly what several other people were talking about earlier in this thread.

I've encountered quite the opposite. The drug users seem to think that those who don't use drugs are, at best, sticks in the mud and boring, and at worst, self-righteous, mean, and extremely odd. Which is ironic; I mean, they look down on non-users while accusing them of arrogance.

At least 60% of my high school was on drugs, probably much more. They generally didn't bother the rest of us but if anyone said they didn't use or like drugs, they were quick to accuse them of arrogance. And one girl I knew said that you could never be popular/well-liked/however you choose to translate "beliebt" if you didn't drink.

Then there are the types who brag about driving drunk. Their kind kills tens of thousands of people a year, and an intoxicated driver killed my aunt and cousin. Apparently, that's okay, though, because the reckless pursuit of happiness at any cost, including even the lives of others, is their lifestyle and demands respect.

So think a moment before you slam us all as "arrogant".

Exactly this. I imagine Elite has very few friends because of this. People just don't like it when you think they are scum.

See this is interesting to me because at UCSC the attitude is just the opposite. Generally users don't care. If you don't want to try it that's your thing, man. However if somebody is interested in giving it a try they are more than happy to accommodate because weed is always way way better with more people.

Maybe what you're encountering is a different type of user who fancies themself a pothead but that claim is tenuous so they feel the need to validate themselves by lording their marginal usage over those who don't want to use at all.

High school is your problem. Everyone is stupid in high school in their own way. College is a much more mellow place though not without its own kind of idiots.

I can't see what drunk driving has to do with anything though. I'm certainly not advocating use of machinery on mind-altering substances.

You are not a better person for abstaining from drugs. You just haven't been licked by the world yet. Certainty is blindness.

High school did suck, and college is a lot better. I was just ranting about how some people (my former classmates) are so keen on getting high and/or drunk that they do so without any consideration of the consequences. Yes, they may still me young and foolish, but that'll get someone killed. They were also the ones who looked down on non-users.
