I just rolled a miracle start...

@ pepe26

Spoiler :
You'll definitely win this Deity game!! Very easy :D. I ended up settling 1E on the gold, grew to happy cap and eventually expanded to 8 cities while teching towards Alpha > Currency > CoL > Cs > MC > onto a 200 AD Oxford. Libbed Steel in 450 AD, had HE in Capital and grabbed Biology in the 700 AD range, before Communism. Was first to Music and also got TGL in Capital right before I started building my University there. Later I would get NE (not in Capital)/GA powered 4 GS to bulb PP/Chemistry/SM/and Biology.

Infected Nappy with Confu early and buddied up while bribing rest of world into something like 3 wars by 1000 AD. Attacked Nappy while he was in war with rest of world and then Catipulated him with 4 cities left before around 1000 AD. Ran a strong Bureau Capital and some other nice cottage cities before eventually switching to a WS based empire right before Steel was grabbed as free tech. That's why early Biology this game.......no Kremlin, no whipping, and no drama or Globe, therefore more food needed to grow and get max hammers.

Anyways, it's around 1050 AD and I'm a few turns away from picking up Rifling which I'll Cav spam. I'm at 14 cities and when emphasizing research around 800-900:science: and by the time I can start making Cav most cities should be able to 3 turn build them. Games pretty much over.

Will post a couple screenies and save some time later.

Settling on the gold to the east is the best and specially given it is a financial leader. 1 north is a decent alternative and you should get BW soon to chop and catch up the hammer loss.

Spoiler :
I actually played this without realizing it was Deity :crazyeye: and settled 1N and settled 2 more cities before barbs became a problem and had defensive units to counter. Not that I am going to continue but this is an interesting map and crowded map. Where I stopped, I have space for about 4 more cities (3 actually since I founded another city. So Will's empire has a total of 6 cities right now including 1 captured barb city. Have iron and horses, but I am not a Deity player, this is it for me. Missed the Oracle by 3 turns. Grrr

well without the oracle and with a delayed BW start, you could be able to beat this map, possibly. from what ive read cseanny say, this should be doable.

im gonna give it a go some time soon but will listen to the true deities here and settle 1E ;)

in my first try, i settled 1NE, delayed BW and expanded slowly and still got heavy barb pressure. could only get to 5 or 6 cities before being boxed in

Monarch player here... I don´t get why settle on the gold hill. You´re forfeiting a 5/6 gold square. Is that for the extra 1hammer at city square?

Thank you!

Besides what pepe said, remember that a game on Deity is much quicker than on Monarch. Each AI starts with two cities to your one, and these two cities can produce cheaper and quicker Settlers than the player (not to mention the units and Workers that the AI starts with).

Settling on the Gold buys you a few extra turns of production and research, and, if this can nab you an extra city or two, or allow you to reach a monopoly tech before the AI, it can make all the difference to the rest of the game.

by the way, whats the advantage of reasearching alpha over aethetics?

From the warmonger map?

Probably a bad idea on my part. But my thinking: Shaka doesn't just want to go to war. He needs to go to war. And he doesn't care about religion. So you need to keep him entertained until you're on Friendly terms. He'll also like Charlemagne because Charlie is a warmonger.

If you get to Alphabet first, you can control the first round of tech trading. Isolate Shaka until you are up three big techs on him (e.g. Mathematics, Alphabet, IW). These three should be enough to bribe him against someone else. For extra diplo points (and an easier bribe) be the first to declare against an AI who can only get to you through Shaka's land.

If you research Aesthetics first, you have to wait for another AI to tech Alphabet, who might trade with Shaka before you. On the other hand, Aesthetics + Alpha + a third tech should be enough to successfully bribe. The main thing is to distract him before he starts plotting against you.

ah, it was in the other thread? thought someone mentioned it here... thanks for the elaboration

Hmm Shaka usually does not like Charly much, Charly like Isa or Joao are not peacemongers but they are -4 or so with Shaka.

Mylene is right. I put Charlie in the 'douchebag warmonger' group when really he's just a douche.

I still think that, all things being equal, Shaka is more likely to declare on the player than Charlemagne. The main thing is that he's going to declare on someone, and given that he's an AI who can be easily manipulated, you might as well manipulate.

Okay Pepe,

I played till 1650 AD, 1 turn short of a Domination win. I've only got around 4-5 screenies and I'm lazy so I'll post the save and a 1650 attached screenie.

@ Pepe

Nope. Didn't build a single Cuir. With that sick Capital I beelined CS while backfilling with trade and made a slight detour to Music (1st) for a quicker NE than my norm, and then I hit up the Education path for a 200 AD Oxford and then began the process of WSing. Libbed Steel in 450 AD and like I said in an earlier post, I bulbed PP(1x)/Chemistry(1X)/SM(1X)/Biology in 800 AD (1x).

So my first war against Nappy was with Cannon/Mace, my 2nd war vs Etheopia was with Cannon/Mace/Lots of Cav, my 3rd war vs China was with Cannon/Mace/Lots of Cav, my 4th war vs Malinese was with Cannon/Mace/a tiny bit of Cav/Lots of Infantry/Artillery and my 5th war was vs Aztecs with Lot's of Nukes and before I could Capitulate him I won by finally grabbing land domination(had population for a long time).

Thanks, but!....... I didn't get out 4 GS in my GA. Perhaps wording was a bit off. I started my GA after whipping infrastructure needed to power to an early Oxford. From there I "powered" my initial GS generation by starting the golden age. And remember, I had been transitioning all cities except Capital to work shops so I was finished whipping for the game, literally. The rest of the GS came quickly because I stayed in Caste indefinitely and stayed in Pacifism till I reached Liberalism.
