Ijnavy's Scenarios on GEM

Progress report:
Finished studing on 1300 AD and 200 BC. Starting to put cities.

Genghis_Kai, 200 BC is actually taking me very long to do. How about we make to versions. Mine with 28 civs (for computers like mine) and yours with 35 civs.

1100 AD over 200 downloads!

OK. I just thought you can spent time on other scenarios in higher priority than 200BC. But it is your choice.

I will include links to all the scenarios developed base on GEM in the first post of GEM.

Tomorrow will start putting in cities for both 1300 AD and 200 BC.

For your Empire list on 1300 AD, I didn't see Byzantium or any of its sucessor states. (Empire of Nicea, Despotate of Epirius, Despotate of Morea, and Empire of Trebizond(lasted until 1463AD)). These sucessor states can after the capture of Constantinople to the Crusaders. Empire of Nicea came to power again. For information in that area, I would recomend the book Byzantium: The Decline and Fall by John Julius Norwhich. It involves the rise of the Ottomans, the Crusades, Sicilian Normans, and lots of other stuff.

Empire of Nicea
It was already conquered by then.
Despotate of Epirius, Despotate of Morea, and Empire of Trebizond.
I thought that they were too small and did not make a big impact.

I am a big supported of the Byzantines and have read about them, but just think that it would not be historically accurate to give them a chance to survive. If people think that it would be better to add them, I will. What does everyone else think about this idea?

I think if you have spare slots for another civ, adding Byzantine doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I looked at the list and I think that I will change the House of Luxembourg to the Byzantine Empire.

I agree. Very good call.

Other thoughts:

1) It might be useful to add Maya or Incas, just to provide some action also in the Americas, rather than have the Aztecs alone.
Perhaps removing Austria and merging it with the other germanic dinasty can free one slot.
The HRE will be vast but perhaps you can weaken his cities differentiating the religion. A good idea to portray all the religious clashes with Hussites, Anabaptists etc, so typical of the late middle ages.

Especially considering in truth the HRE was just a fragmented coalition with the seven great electors that had different agendas.
Just to avoid it takes over too easily and too early (ok, ok Charles the V Empire was dominant in 16th century...until 1558 AD)

This map might be helpful for Europe.

http://www.euratlas.com/big/europe_map_1300.html# here

With the current civs one of the things you have to figure out is Southern Italy plus all the mediterranean isles (Balears, Sardinia, Corsica mainly).

Sicily should belong to Aragona, ergo Spain considering the civs available.

Thanks, I already use this website.

Maybe I should change Ethiopia to the Maya or Inca?

Last but not least, which scenario should we expect first, 200 BC or 1300 AD?
I think that they will be completed on the same day.

I can help with Byzantium.
Minor Point: If the pope had a called for a crusade against the Ottomans, with all major powers participating, Byzantium would have beem saved temporarily. All that Byzantium would control is Constantinople, Thessalonica(soon to be taken by either Ottomans or Serbia), Greece, and IIRC, some agean islands and parts of Epirius. Make Trebizond a barbarian city. The Empire of Trebizond for most of its history a Ottoman Vassal. If you need more Information about that area I can get some.

Thanks Ajidica, if I'll have some problems in that area I'll ask you.
Progress report for 200 BC:
finish placing cities for these civs
Japan 3 setlers
Chinese Han 8 cities
Korea 3 cities
Xiongnu 7 cities
Mon 3 settlers
Australasian peoples 3 settlers
Satavahana 3 cities
Sunga 3 cities
Indo-Greek kingdoms 4 cities
Parthia 2 cities
and some barbarians.

Update on 200 BC:
Changed Atropatene to Min-Yue.
Changed Numidia to Carthage in 2nd Punic war.

i suggest to use Nan-yue instead of Min-yue (which is what I used). It has a greater influence in history than Min-yue and it occupies a greater region as well.

I think that I will still keep Min-Yue because wasn't Nan-yue conquered in 111 BC? I already have the Khmer, so I don't want another Civ in Indochina.

But I thought you are building a 200BC scenario? Also, Nan-yue is not an indochina civ, it's capita is at Guangzhou in southern China. In early Han, Nan-Yue is often refered as a threat to Han's security, at the same level as Xiong-Nu.

In comparison, Min-Yue is just a vassal state of Han China. It is never a threat to the Han.
