I'll Have What She's Having

Slipping in little digs like this just highlight your inferiority complex about your nationality.

I don't identify with my nation beyond passport issues. It's a temporary residence. But sure, America, especially now, looks like paradise compared to a low-living standard nation like Germany. Our chicken breasts aren't even properly medicated and none of my friends has been shot recently  Keep flaunting how your team is #1, maybe you'll even trick yourself into believing it :-)

It's not a 1:1 ratio but it's pretty close. You burn around 130~ calories a mile at a normal weight. If you dedicate 30 minutes to running, you'll burn more if you run 3 miles in that time than if you only ran a mile and a half.

had no idea the ratios were so close, thanks for the heads up.

How long until the supplements market spins out of control?
(Of course, i wouldn't mind some of what SHE's having..):mwaha:

This is exactly correct. If many people are tested, one has to assume that a few of them have terrible, deficient diets.

Yes... if 20% of them live on a junk diet.... and get some 50% improvement from whatever, the group on average improves 10%, good enough to get press coverage. Not meaning at all that somebody who eats well will improves even 1%.
Some simple examples of such small daily smarties, each of them able to perform such 50% improvements for some benefit: 10 grams of dark chocolate, or 10 grams of mushrooms, or 10 grams of fibre, or 2 grams of cinnamon, or 2 grams of green tea, or 2 grams of curry, etc, etc.... this list is endless. BUT they do not stack very much... not even for food junks.... the only thing that happens is that the number of benefits you enjoy increases.

In general I am not a friend of too many supplements, and believe me I've tried many. Fish oil, compound vitamin capsules.. Maybe Vitamin D supplements are legit for people who cannot absord sunlight well and Vitamin B12 is something vegans should always consider. Aside from that I see it as entirely unnecessary.
Are you also a fellow beetle-juice appreciating gentleman?

You are still young !!!

IF you were privileged enough to get decent food and health care the first 20 years of your live.... have no wrong genes......do some physical exercising or have a physical job... have a good night-day life style structure.... etc.....your body can handle almost anything up to the moment your ageing really starts to kick in, with 50 or so.
And it will kick in in your weakest spots: your genes, your smoking, your obesity, your lack of exercise, your alcolholism
and that's where food will not be good enough anymore and medicins or food supplements start to get needed to support your body for those functions that really get below a decent level
(AND start to erode other functions of your body as well !!!).

EDIT
Unless you really do live as mother Nature made us for:
  • 20 km a day walking with only now and then a small sprint
  • Lots of sleep
  • Food with lots of fibre, lots of tubers and roots,
  • Adequate small game/fish, nuts, fruit
