The city should annex the suburbs that depend entirely upon the urban core for their existance. I think that would take care of most problems and inefficiencies.

This should be done with all large cities in the U.S. It's nearly impossible to accomplish nowadays though, especially when a metro area spans 3 states (like New York)

It wasn't all that long ago that Indianapolis did it. And I understand it worked out pretty well for them.

I say we go for it and maybe just add a few selected areas of Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan.

As Cecil from the Chicago Reader puts after much analysis "so I think it'd work out for both sides. We'd get most of the people, material possessions and things that make life worth living. You'd get a state free of us".

How many ski resorts would you get?

Surely you jest. They don't call us flatlanders for nothin'.

Unfortunately, we wouldn't have much more than bunny hills after adding the "Wisconsin and Michigan selected areas" but for this area that's all we've got. However, we would be more than happy to invade your neighborhood. :)

Obviously, we would get Lake Michigan which is fair since they'd get the Mississippi and Asian carp.

Yay, America is breaking apart.
Glad my region isn't the only one with that problem.
Separatism and division are not the things which make a country great, and most Americans seem to have a large amount of national pride.
I'm not a fan of nationalism (which you could have derived from my title), but the smaller the region is you support, the worse, I think.

:nono:

It's gerrymandering of a sort, but more honest. It's not separation in the sense of the USA breaking apart.
