I'm not a racist, that's what's so insane about this.

Do you think finding racist jokes funny necessarily makes one a racist?

Me and my friends make them all the time, almost always towards each other in a joking way. I blame the Indian kid who came :p Instead of being shy, he started tossing out as many white/black/mexican jokes as possible and we had to one up him.

All in good, juvenile fun.

The one time we had a true rascist (as someone before said, you can just tell the difference), we basically forced him out of the school. Probably better that he left, he was asking to get his arse kicked bad.

You know what I like to do...

I like to go around and tell people that I hate the Indians...

They get pissed. Then I tell them I'm talking about the "Dot Indians", not the "Feather Indians".

Then they're ok with it. I just get a kick outta that.

No I dont, I think theyre hilarious. To a great extent, theyre funny precisely because theyre so wrong. The more politically correct everyone gets, the funnier the jokes seem.

Not particularly even though it might show that you have racist tendencies.

And I said might.

It depends about the jokes really. Some jokes are meant to be utterly offensive while others are just jokes. And it isn't only about the joke alone but also how it's told, to who and where.

And unlike some people told here I believe fear, hatred, bitterness do sometimes have direct connection to the jokes you tell. Not always though.

Or if I tell joke about someone around here, let's say about you Fifty, there is chance you might find it offensive (example about your studies in philosophy, which I find laughable ;)).

There's no denying that there's point in jokes that they get under your skin as they get more close and personal. Some people like dancing on the line while others stay back but everybody does have a line that you don't want to cross. Or you are tempted for sure now and then but don't claim you aren't ***** or racist if you do so.

In general however people should relax and be ready to face and take some criticism and also jokes. It's kind of disturbing how minorities or sometimes majority are so sensible about little joking. People should have certain threshold for offensive things they face.

Holy cow! Several months away from CFC and you're still worked about a couple thread debates with me!? I rule!

Now for the obligatory "I'm not worked up" reply...

Agreed!

@Cheezy: Not from a movie!

A racial joke in the mouth of a racist is no longer a joke.

Hard to answer the question...it depends on the joke I guess. I mean I'd probably find a joke relating to someones country funny (eg. anything which mocks the welsh, scottish, irish or northerners;) )...but not one which is based on skin colour and so on.

Lemme try...

Spoiler :
So this journalist is interviewing Ray Charles.
"So Ray, you were born in a poor family, you never had a dad, your brother drowned right next to you, and on top of all you were blind... didn't you find your childhood too harsh?"
"It could have been worse, says Ray. I could have been black!"

Man, in Sweden and Norway there are so-called [insertnationalityhere]-jokes. Which I think you all know, just want to make sure...

In any case, the original idea of the "jokes" must be to deem the target country as inferior. But people use them for entertainment only.

And if there's anything that's funny, it's making fun of them scottish! There are pretty damn many jokes about scottish and their greedyness, some of which are a bit one the... extreme... side.

Scott 1: "You might want to change your teabag- it doesn't look to fresh..."
Scott 2: "Nonsense! I've only had it for 48 years!"

Man, oh man, I sure like starting my post with "man"!

When people cant laugh at themselves, thats when its time to start worrying.

I don't find that funny as it is....but it could be funny in context...i.e. someone who is highlighting the fact racism still exists or whatever....but then again the whole blind things adds another factor to the joke which is unfunny.
