Imperia Mobiana

The Rise of Oceania

The coasts of Inca, as the former western coast of South America became known, had been one of the first places where human civilization first developed, and in the aftermath of the Xorda Attack and the calamities that followed, the city-states of Inca had been some of the first civilizations to emerge. The population, overwhelmingly Mobian, were sustained by the rich coastal waters, and their numbers grew rapidly after they rediscovered irrigation and terraced farming. They began building cities. They thrived on trade, the settlement linked by merchants who traded in food, cotton, and precious metals. By warfare, diplomacy or economic dominance, some cities grew large and absorbed nearby settlements into their sphere. The various cities of Inca eventually consolidated into some ten city-states. They grew to be rivals, and the internecine wars fought between them increasingly violent and destructive. The conflict between the Mobian majority and the human and overlander minorities only made things worse.

Emiliano Elcano was born in a coastal village, one of the few isolated human-majority settlements in Inca. From an early age his parents saw that he was gifted, and sent him to study in the nearby city of Raiso. He saw how Inca was being torn apart by savage warfare. In Raiso he befriended Sebastian Gray, a kangaroo Mobian of Downundan descent from a merchant's family who shared his desire for peace.

Over the years Elcano, Gray and their allies worked together to bring peace to the region. However, the warlord of Lida, General Montero, was determined to conquer the entire region. He sacked Raiso, and Elcano saw his family killed in the assault. However, instead of being overwhelmed by a desire for revenge, he resolved to work harder for peace, so that no one will have to experience such atrocities again.

Gray was eventually elected Consul in the powerful city-state of Santhiago with the help of Elcano, and from his new position of power oversaw the formation of a confederation with eight other city-states, under the new name of "Oceania". Lida, however, refused to his peace offer. The aged General Montero marched on Santhiago at the head of a massive army, and Gray had no choice but to fight (Elcano refused to accept this, and retired to a mountain retreat, to die shortly after of despair). The Lidan Army was defeated in the ensuing battle, and a humbled General Montero fled back to his home city.

At the urging of his son, and on hearing of the threat from a new powerful expansionist states of the Stuka Domination and the Aryan Seed, Montero agreed to negotiate with Gray. At the meeting, Gray invited Montero to break an arrow, which he did easily; Gray then invited Montero to break a bundle of ten arrows, which he couldn't. In the same way, Gray reasoned, each state is individually weak, but there is strength in unity. Montero agreed to the peace treaty, and retired in favor of his son. And thus the Oceanian Confederation was formed.

Nice work, TK. :)

As for everyone else:

This thread's initials are IM, not IGN. Take videogame debates elsewhere please(the All Other Games forum is just a click away from the Forum Games page!). :)

Only Celticempire need give orders now.

IOT IGN would suck. So would IOT EA, or IOT A (but IOT A-B might not be as bad).

I change my mind. Half into Econ, half into Military.

Then half into armies, the other half into navies.

Im putting half into tech half into military

here is the new flag

"On the hottest night of the summer month, Emperor Sanzer ordered the immeidate destruction of the 'undesirables'. For years, if not decades, tensions between the mobians and the humans and the overlanders have grown. Several times, those tensions boiled over, resulting in anything from general riots to full blown civil wars. In the decades before the Night of Pyres, with the Sanzer Dynasty cementing power in the region, the chance of civil war being won by humans or overlanders was nil. For decades, the Sanzer Dynasty often ignored charging a Mobian with the murder of an Overlander or Human. By the Night of Pyres, most Humans and Overlanders lived in their own communties. Often in the poorest part of a city.

Emperor Sanzer XXIV is the first emperor to begin an active campaign against the Overlanders and Humans. The Night of Pyres had two effects. 1.) Thousands of Humans and Overlanders fled the city-states. 2.) The survivors were forced into servitude. The Night of Pyres isn't named that way because it involved one giant fire. It involved many small ones. The larger ones didn't occur until later that year. A favorite tactic of the noble generals of armies was to station archers on the outskirts of a predominately Human/Overlander village and fire flaming arrows indiscriminately into towns. During night attacks, the archers would simply keep firing and refugees often ran across the borders and escaped. Day attacks were arguably worst since arrows were harder to spot and chariots would chase down and fire into fleeing groups.

No one is sure if this is the first 'systematic genocide' in post-Cataclysmic history. What is known is that before the Night of Pyres, a quarter of the Domination's population was Overlander and Human. After the NoP, only 5% of the population was Human and Overlander. Mobians were also killed. If the nobles ordered a day attack against a village, they often sent a warning that an attack was eminent and that all Mobians should flee in the direction of the general's army unarmed. Victims of a night attack didn't get such luxury."

I'm filling out the Spreadsheet so the game can begin soon, and the new NPCs must be introduced:

-Yagyu: One of the rival clans in the Dragon Kingdom, the Yagyu are master thieves. They are ruled over by Bats, and due to the slaying of the Bride of Rich Nights some time ago, the Yagyu are now ruled by men rather than women. Color: Teal

-Adabat: A merchant republic, the Adabatians are peaceful and believe in armed neutrality. Trade is their number one concern, as it is the lifeblood of the state. Color: Light Yellow

-Shinobi: A secretive Clan, they often find themselves working with the Free People of the Dragon Kingdom these days, likely due to the Free People having an associate, Espio, the son of the aging Bride of Constant Vigil. Even so, however, the Clan tends to always do the right thing, but is secretive about it due to the fact that attempts to do good in the past have resulted in near-extermination of the Chameleon race. The Shinobi are experts at espionage and secrecy, and this makes them a valuable asset to the few who can recruit their help.

We now have 20 factions. That should be good enough. The game shall begin soon.

Nice to meet you. Tell me, do your people have a lot of rich, undefended coastal cities?

The Game Hath Begun. It is 1 PC (Post-Cataclysm), and twenty states have risen up to take the reins of power. Twice now, the Mobian planet has been ravaged, first by the Xorda and the second by an unknown disaster. Is the third time the charm, or is the planet again doomed to destroy itself?

Events:

Too early for these.

Revolts:

Again, too early.

Notes:

-Your income can now be seen. Spend it wisely.

-You may now expand into at maximum five more territories. These territories must be within range of your current borders. Your range is your number of techs * 5. So for most of you, five-ten pixels.

-You may now ink trade agreements. You are all limited to one at the moment, but anybody who reaches Economy 2 will have two slots available. Remember your ability to contact is also limited by Tech; you can negotiate 20 pixels away(this changes with your era) by default; each tech level increases this by 10. Just ask if you can contact someone if you're not sure. :)

-The next turn won't come for 24-36 hours or until all players get a chance to give orders, whichever comes first. Inactive players will have their income banked.

Oceania, trade?

Link to video.

A giant tsunami swept in through the dark of night on what should have been just another peaceful evening, killing thousands across the world in Holoska, New England, and the Dominion of the Redeemers. While the nations were struggling to build and thus had no idea what could have caused it, any bird could tell you if they could speak: a gigantic mass of rock had fallen from the Heavens, the aptly-named Angel Island.

The Master Emerald, which kept it afloat for countless years, had been shattered during the wars going on in the skies. The Island crashed without its source, causing a destructive wave to batter the shores of Eurish and Northamer. This was easily seen in the form of many green streaks of light shooting across the sky to lands unknown.

---

But that was only the beginning.

Bright streaks of red, green, blue, cyan, white, violet and yellow darted across the night sky not too long after. Wonderous trails were left behind them, gradually fading into the cosmic view above them... All around the world, the lights could be seen, though any who would try to trace them to their location would be a fool.

"I know that light." Voices around the world said in unison, some still working in the field, some now working as the leaders of their countries.

The Master Emerald and its servers, the Seven Chaos, had once more been dispersed across the world.

---

The 7 Emeralds are now in play. You will automatically receive it if you settle the territory they're in. There is at least one on each of the six continents, but one continent has two.

The same goes for the 13 shards of the Master Emerald(which actually happened second but I changed it so it would fit the theme; imagine that the first turn of the game the Island falls!). Every continent has two shards, except one which will have three.

Angel Island is accessible to whoever has a navy, but be warned it is a land of great danger. It is torn between the Dingos, Dark Legion, and Brotherhood, plus other mini-factions, and this makes it treacherous. It also has great reward, however - who knows what riches you can find on the island! You can send an expedition to the island if you have a free army to accompany a navy.

Details on the powers of ME Shards or Chaos Emeralds can be found on the front page.

Emeralds - Planned.

Angel Island - Originally it wasn't going to fall, but I decided to roll for 20 turns so I'd know which turn it'd fall.

It rolled a 4 on the first. Goes well with the emerald backstory at least!

10 into econ, 1 into searching the middle part of the sliver of Númenor, and the small circular island to its south.

Gold are current possessions (duh)
Yellow are claims
Orange are areas of interest

King Tar-Aragorn offers his hand in wealth and friendship to Tails (trade rights, assuming I now have 3 techs and not 2 [distance is like 26 pixels from new province]).

Allow me to quote Joocoolyo and say: "Good news everyone!"

You don't need to pay to search for emeralds anymore, at least not at the moment; the emerald is automatically discovered if you colonise a province it's in.

I train 1 army, 1 navy, and put the rest into econ. I send an expedition to angel island. Claims coming when I'm less lazy.

Fine, I'll just bank that 1 gold.

I also transport 1 army across to the other side. I'd rather have 2 on each side.
