Imperium Offtopicum: The Aftermath

@Germany: Ares would like you to know that Apollo said that we would probably beat the Abhorrents, but just in case, he's blessing our bullets with 15% more attack. I had to use like all of my Favor and 300 of the other resources, but it's totally going to be worth it.

To Germany: If refuge ion Europe is needed, the German government shall be allowed to set up operations in Petrograd. Furthermore, we could perhaps use some of our forces at this time to help you combat the Abhorrent menace in your territory?

The German Republic would be happy to accept any help against the Abhorrents :).

I'll certainly carry on for as long as there's interest. Thus far it's been easier to manage than IOTIV and I can probably keep running this into the fall; but I was certain Tani would be at war with someone by now.

Well Thor, if you really want me to spice things up...

*checks his reputation*

I have political capital it seems. Let's have a fireworks show. :goodjob:

Abominable living conditions in Cantabria Libre have forced the hand of the Marian Republic. While some have debated the move given its close ties to the NCSA, the President insists. He says that just sitting back while Cantabria Libre oppresses the Kaetif citizenry would be the same as the MF oppressing them itself. "Freedom is merely privilege extended unless enjoyed by one and all, and "Free" Cantabria certainly enjoys such a practice."

However, hostilities would kill countless on both sides, and make Europe ever more ripe for the Abhorrent picking.

As such, the President believes that an accord can be reached, and bloodshed avoided, if Cantabria accepts a few humble terms:

-Citizens of both nations be free to come and go as they please between eachother.
-The Kaetif of Cantabria be granted full, equal rights, especially in politics.

"Self-determination, while a valuable concept, should not override sentient rights."

Elsewhere, the NAP proposed with Brazzaville has lapsed; most politicians acknowledge that there'd be no profit in a war with the city-state, and it enjoys a de facto alliance by the Republic due to its location.

The NAP proposed with Brcko continues, in the hopes of a united anti-Abhorrent front.

I like how when Tanny legalized drugs, there was a big fuss about it, but no one even cared when I did it.

Hurray for being irrelephant!

It seems that due to the Kaetif status and large economic potential(Blue Zones), the Marians are one of the more major nations of Earth.

Historical status often is a key component of national importance in this. The Hetmanate and Petrograd are ravaged, but they have had great historical importance. Likewise, the MF was a major power that caused the last world war, and that probably gives it a fair amount of credentials.

Though, overall, it could just be the fact I was the first one to legalise, so you had a Prohibionist camp led by Petrograd and a Liberal camp led by the Marian Republic.

I was important. I nuked India!

Regardless, my government is entirely laissez-faire. It should've been obvious that I had not outlawed drugs in the first place.

Colonel Musa Ashraf doesn't like crowds. He hates the noise, the heat, the jostling, the sweat, the smoke from the roadside foodstalls, and the fumes from the scooters, motorbikes and the rickshaws. As the man in charge of public security in the city of Islamabad, he very much prefers working behind a desk, alone, in an airconditioned room five stories above the teeming masses on the streets, at the Islamabad Central Garrison. He let his underlings know that he is to be called out into the city only in the most severe cases. So when his assistant calls him out to see something in the Noor slums, the Colonel knows that it is a very serious case indeed.

He arrives at the scene in his bulletproof car. With some unease he steps out of the car's air-conditioned comfort, into the stifling heat of a Punjabi summer. This is Noor, the most notorious of Islamabad's many slums. The smell hits him immediately; of rubbish, of human sweat, human waste. A large crowd has gathered to see the Chief of Public Security arrive. Police officers hold them back, allowing the Colonel through to the crime scene.

The local mosque is haphazardly built, in much the same way as the rest of the slum. There are cracks all over the building, and the whole structure seems to be sinking into the ground. As Colonel Ashraf, flanked by bodyguards, walks closer to the mosque, an overpowering stench hits him. It is the unmistaken stench of rotting flesh. Human flesh.

The sight that greets him at the gate of the half-crumbling mosque is one that he would never forget. Red splashes of stinking blood covers the walls. Bodies and body parts, of mutilated men, women and children, feasted upon by millions upon millions of flies, piled high at the gate, like a grotesque sacrifice.

Do I sense that TK and Thorvald have some sort of surprise antagonist planned to spice things up?

He's probably going to reverse the polarity of all the lands, making red lands yellow and blue lands black.

Or have Evil Lincoln organize the Abhorrents.

Hopefully the fact war is looming over Iberia will be enough to trigger some interest...

Let's see.

IF one were to break out and all alliances honored, it'd be the Marians vs. NCSA-Cantabria.

Theoretically, the Portuguese dispute could spill into this, with Portugal on the Marian side (as I recall, the Marians recognise Portugal's independence, and the KNE obviously won't approve) and the New England on the NCSA side.

"AHA A COVER FOR MY INSIDEOUS PLANS" Lord Ravanius was heard to yell on hearing the news.
The above section of this post is censored. DO NOT READ! OR ELSE!

Hong Kong states that we do not feel any nation should be interfering in anothers internal affairs, as long as those affairs are not affecting them. There is certainly no reason to demand they change their internal policies, and the threat of military might between two such powers is certain to have drasticly negative effects, likely on more than just them.

A drastic slowdown has struck Hong Kong markets in fear of the economic repurcussions of the current crisis. In an attempt to stimulate the economy, whilst making a further guesture against the unprovoked Marian actions, Lord Ravanius sends an offer of a trade agreement to the NCSA.

With the Abhorrent probe into Assam, someone in Hindustan has finally seized the initiative and bound Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh to a single government in order to secure the border with the East Indian Wasteland.

The Marathi Republic has not responded well to this act of unification.

The NCSA advises to back off of Cantabria Libre. It is a sovereign state and deserves to be treated as such. That means it can determine its domestic policy on its own. Without your help. So please just step back and respect the smaller nations of the world.

To Hong Kong: We would accept a trade agreement, and appreciate the support against the Marians.

Indeed, those British were so narrowminded when they interfered with the slavery-based economies of the rest of the world.

The right to self-governance is important. But self-governance's value derives from the fact that all the residents of a state have a say in its future. A state hostile to parts of its citizenry, as Cantabria certainly is, inherently devalues self-governance, as the second class citizens are coerced, abused, and degraded on a regular basis.

Self-determination is important... but not as important as the rights of all sentient beings.

Why trade with the NCSA, which is mostly red and yellow zones, instead of the Marian Republic, which has many wealthy blue zones? If your economy is in need of a boost, trading with us would be a more sound option; the NCSA, while once occupying an incredibly wealthy (4-5 trillion dollar GDP in the 2000s) region, has been ravaged.

Petrograd is monitoring the situation in Iberia carefully.

The egg will be on Cantabria's face if it doesn't adhere to such reasonable demands; open conflict is the last option on the table. We are merely standing up for the cause of equality... and standing up involves a willingness to use force to protect others.

Any liberal democracy deserves respect, as its citizens enjoy a wide range of rights and control of their government.

Self-determination's value, we feel, is derived from the government's legitimacy via its care for and consent of the governed.

That means it can determine its domestic policy on its own. Without your help. So please just step back and respect the smaller nations of the world.

If a state mandated ritualistic sacrifices every three months to celebrate the turning of the seasons, we don't care if it's part of their tradition. Such practices are barbaric, and should be purged.

Every individual has the right to live as they wish, free from interference by others. We feel, this is more important a value than every government has the right to continue ruling as it wishes.
