Imperium Offtopicum - UN Building

THIS IS A DIPLOMACY GAME CENTERED AROUND OUR TIMES (2010), NOT THE YEAR 3000. NO SPACE EMPIRES!

well yeah.. of course.... but there's no reason we cannot build anything space related.

as for me I'm gonna be building a small one man shuttlecraft. right now it will be kind of.. limited in its abilities. (and i do mean limited)

To be honest, a Space Imperium Offtopicum is not exactly feasible since anyone can just create a fictional system. Even an entirely fictional galaxy. Earth is a much fair playground IMO than going into space. Otherwise we'd all be trying to be like George Lucas.

NO SPACE EMPIRES!!! STAY ON EARTH!!! :rage: :rage: :rage:

will you please relax? your gonna give yourself a heart attack.

and i stand by my decision, i wont actually claim things, but i may construct a space military. someone has to defend the solar system you know, and since china has a colony, it would be needed anyway.

Dude. There's no way a country the size of Albania could support a space program. It's just impossible to get enough infrastructure. You'd have to develop it with someone else.

i agree. China, will you agree to help us in my space program? we will help you in Establishing a large space station (in orbit of mars) and military ships.

all i want is to construct a large international space station, and a few General purpose space ships.

actualy our spaceships are manufactured by sweetshop workers in in Chinatown,New York and FedExed to the mainland next day air.

... im just gonna reserve some land to build a shipyard to make small Science ships. next month of course, everyone's on vacation.

Ok, I say that since we can't use nukes on Earth, we should be able to use them in space.

Primarily to combat the evil Powergaming Republic. RAGE!!!!!!

will you please calm down? there's nothing power gamy over what im doing.

GRAAAAAAAAGH KlLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a 7 million men nation can maintain a science ship ( or a couple) you know, that thing is crewed by 80 people. building a ship yard in land isn't a challenge.

Remember our agreement? You can't do anything military wise without my input. And I say NO SPACE MILITARY. Period.

fine. im still building science ships.

.... Constantine the 12th was seen constructing a shuttle-like ship in his spare time. in a factory. it will be completed soon.

I'm going to go ahead and pretend that this space crap doesn't exist. If you don't mind, I'll be here maintaining the semblance of realism.

Also, I doubt you'd have the infrastructure, GDP, and technological capabilities of maintaining even a small space program, Math, especially after just getting through a particularly bloody conflict in which Venice attacked you on your hometurf.

this 'bloody' conflict barely registered on the radar. and we repulsed them easily remember? Venice is no threat. and last i heard no nation is invading more provinces and Omega wasn't around for a while.

my infrastructure is doing quite fine and it could serve about 10 million people. ( my current population is 7 million)

my technology is more or less the same as Byzantium.

my GDP is 295 billion. the space program is a bit expensive (20%) but worth it. and we are constructing ships on land. which cheapens things a bit.

( note: i wonder why the countries leave as much as 90% of their money unspent. the expenses on education is usually around 5% while military usually adds another 5%. did i miss something?

IRL, Albania has a GDP of 23 billion. A GDP of more than 295 billion would put you somewhere near Switzerland, and they don't have a space-faring fleet.

Assuming this is the first half of the 21st century, you do not spend 20% of your GDP on your space program. You just don't.

Uhm... government salaries, infrastructure building and maintainance, public services, trade, health, welfare, subsidies.

In fact, most countries end up with a budget deficit.
