Libya – A Contested State and a “Red” Spring

When the revolution initially began the People’s Militia promised a Red Spring. And a Red Spring they got. There protests were put down by force by the now infamous Protective Caste warriors that dealt with the Thessaloniki problem. Peaceful protests in Greece were mown down by machine gun fire and in a comment from a French Correspondent “It was as if there were some great festival, the walls and streets were so brightly coloured, it would be beautiful if it were not for the fact that the bright colour was that of the blood of the citizens of this brutal Republic.”

By the time Russia’s forces arrived in Greece the situation was already critical. The streets were lined with the dead and most of the prominent Government buildings had been hit by explosive attacks. Russian military police stepped in to take control of the situation. In the disarray of the government they set up a provisional government of appointed Russian Military officials. The fighting rages on throughout the nation but with Russians there it all became a bit more peaceful.

In Libya the People’s Militia vastly lost support - following Abdulrashid’s condemnation of the Militia’s recent actions - in favour of a more moderate independence movement inspired by the writings of a Doctor El-Amin. When this movement began protesting the Protective caste did not fight them as they had the Militia but instead under the orders of Farida Amjad, a Governing Caste member who had been working with El-Amin, they turned to fight for El-Amin and Amjad’s new Provisional Government for Libya.

The overall situation in the Platonic Republic can be described as follows: In Libya the Libyan Provisional Government, People’s Militia and Platonic forces are all fighting for control. In Greece the Platonic forces, now under Russian leadership are attempting to supress the People’s Militia in the Mediterranean islands Russian control goes mostly unquestioned.

Debate on the Caen Meteorite

The origin of the Caen Meteorite is a subject of great debate in Astrophysical circles, no one is truly sure where it came from as only a few supposed pieces made it out of France before the lockdown that occurred when the Government took complete control of the operation after the Coup. Some scientists argue that their fragment suggest an origin on Mars however Ogilvy, a scientist in Bermudia was reported to have said “The chances of this thing having come from Mars are a million to one.” Others such as a American Dr. Joyday suggest that there is evidence on their fragment to suggest the real possibility of life on other planets. As of yet the French government has not allowed French scientists to release their own findings on the matter.

The long term climate impacts are still unknown though in the short term it seems to have caused a massive area of low pressure in France which has drawn in the winds and the rain. This has had a highly detrimental effect on France’s harvest prospects.

The Changing Face of Global Politics

Global Politics is now dynamic and changing very quickly. The Triple alliance was very quick to form and in America the Hegemony has established itself as the most powerful nation in the world. France has suffered in the last few months both the death of its leader, a horrendous natural disaster and then a coup by an ultra-feminist group. Rome has also collapsed following the death of its leadership and though Rhodes elected to remain within the empire, many states cut their ties to Rome. One of the new states, Cyprus, joined the UAR after a popular referendum, pending approval from the UAR government. The Platonic republic is similarly falling with Russia having to step in to assist and with this season’s massive Earthquake and a string of military defeats Japan is slowly falling from grace as well.

The Liberation of Vietnam

Hanoi was, as an Egyptian soldier, one of the first to enter the city, reported; “Destroyed. In the most inhumane way possible to imagine. The Japanese we captured told us that the orders had been to Rape the city. I really think that they got that right, it’s the only way to describe this utter violation of humanity.” The soldier went on to say that him and the rest of the Egyptian forces that had been there were now going to “make them bleed, bled out of a hundred different wounds.”
This seems to have been a standard reaction from many of the Peacekeeping forces that marched into Hanoi expecting to be greeted as liberators. All they found there was the dead, and the dead weren’t very good at being grateful for the liberation. The Japanese had destroyed the city completely, burned and killed and all manner of other atrocities. Of the several thousand expected to be found there, only 124 survivors have been found so far.

On the Chinese front the tactical ingenuity of China’s forces allowed them to gain the upper hand against overwhelming forces arrayed against them. With the help of Gangnam from the north the advances of Japan were stopped and the in the south China even managed to make gains against the enemy. Another attempt to attack Taiwan was made and once again it was repulsed, many like to refer to Taiwan as an impregnable fortress.

However in the JCZ the Peacekeeping forces did manage to score their first set of real naval victories counting on air support from the mainland to support their ships. This strategy allowed them to be able to face the Japanese navy as equals rather than being hopelessly outmatched. The Japanese paid dearly for their lack of air support.

Tokyo Earthquake

An earthquake of 7.2 on the Richter scale hit Tokyo. Though the damage was not huge to the oldest buildings that survived from before the wars of the 21st century many of the newer buildings that had been built with short term recovery in mind rather than earthquakes were destroyed. This included serious damage to the imperial palace. Many Japanese citizens are becoming slightly wary of their government. With this recent string of defeats and natural disaster public support is declining. It would take a major blow against their enemies for the public to rally back to their fanatical support of the government observed last year.

Bermudia ‘tis for Thee

The Bermudia republic, successor to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is a point of tranquillity in a world of Chaos. During the wars of the 21st century this is where the majority of the richest UK citizens fled but also the stock markets and the major universities. Much of the stock trading done in the western world is conducted through Bermudia it is seen as a neutral place where Americans, Frenchwomen, Irish and all others can gather together in order to trade and make money. Similarly the major universities of Britain such as UCL, Bristol, Durham, St Andrews, Warwick (and the other two) all amalgamated together into the British university which is fully based in Bermudia, many people from across the world pay huge amount of money to come and study there as it is one of the only surviving truly prestigious academic institutions.

Bermudia remains in a state of neutrality with most of the world and tends to stay out of most conflicts. It is only and observer state of the UN and is adverse to any offers of alliance or political protection. Its main sources of income are in the Trade and Education sectors. I hope you enjoyed that little information nugget.

Oceania

The amount of unsureness about the situation in Oceania is shockingly high. Many analysts just give up when trying to think about it

General Toto moves to Mozambique

Having recovered enough to be able to be moved to another hospital General Toto requested to be moved to a Mozambique hospital in order that he might retire there after he has fully recovered.

Ground Zero Reached

The Hegemony has expanded its borders now right up to the outskirts of Washington DC the old capital of the USA. It is believed that Washington was one of the first cities to be hit by a nuclear weapon and was the trigger point for the crisis that led to the destruction of the old world order.

Congratulate CivG on his ability to count pixels
Congratulate Terran on his ability to claim twice as many provinces as allowed
Congratulate Omega on using last turns map thus claiming territories he already had or at least so I though and then congratulate him on getting his image so I couldn’t click on it so I couldn’t see that he had actually edited in some more claims.
Final warning for AA, next turn his nation will be dissolved.
First Warning for Red Spy.

Stats

Also RULE CHANGE

Unitary states such as The Hegemony and UAR must now have contribution from both players in the nation or the offending player will acquire shame points as would normally happen. This means that I will no longer accept orders which include claims from both nations. Claim orders must be given in separately.

Also I'm sure that there's something I've forgotten and intelligence report PMs will go out tomorrow.

What I mean is that he took out of context this sentence. I said that Japan's actions are comparable to everyone else's, not that he didn't actually do them. I would never be dumb enough to not know what I've written xD

EDIT: Update! Seems you forgot to paint some islands

Due to the atrocities committed in the Japanese occupation of Vietnam, the Republic of Laos issues a declaration of war against the Japanese Empire.

The Russian-led government body in Greece has declared an end to hostility in Greece and all Greek holdings. We hereby demand all civilians that have taken up arms to lay them down. While we do not condone the previous government's attack on the civilian population, we cannot allow violence to persist. Fire will be met with fire. No more blood needs to be lost in this pointless conflict.

All values are of course rough estimates especially in the unclaimed world as at this time censuses are hard to organise.

the Roman Empire, following the collapse, vows to rebuild the Economic, political and military strength of the Empire.

the Emperor has launched the project, titled: Roman Restoration.

the first part of the project is simple: plans for an interstate-like system of highways spanning the Empire was already made, and is currently under construction. they will provide an easy means of transportation for military and Civilians alike. it will also increase development in rural areas.

the second part is raising taxes to 40%, for everyone, and then use that tax money to fund Universal Healthcare, reasonably cheap education system, cheap Electricity, and substantially increasing the standard of living for everyone.

the third part will be to restore the Empires reputation abroad, as a neutral economic power. we are willing to take foreign investments to further increase the Roman potential.

the fourth part, after everything is complete, the Emperor will personally do a budget of all taxes and other sources of money versus expenses. the income must be equal or greater than the expenses for it to be sustainable.

money from Taxes: 40% of average GDP per capita. the average is 17,000 dollars.

17,000 times 0.40 is 6,800. times 10 million Taxable people is 68 Billion. this is our budget.

5% will be spent on the military. (3.4 billion)
15% is spent on education: (10.2 billion)

the other 80% of the money will be spent as needed, or kept as surplus.

...10 million for the Roman Empire is too low. thats below pretty much most of history's records of population. Turkey had a population of 80 million in 2014. i very much doubt it reduced by that much. 20 million is far more reasonable.

Your total population has declined due to all those independent states so 20M is no longer an accurate representation, Also consider not all people are taxable in a post-apocalyptic society

well fine, but half of the population isn't outside of the Empire now.... at best, it would be one quarter. about 5 million.

and, well, the ten million taxable figure could work...you know, adults that can pay taxes and all.

Don't underestimate the sheer number of people you set free, especially in Bulgaria and Kurdistan.

i thought RC woudl know the regional populations and all... kurdistan would have the loins share of the successor states population, infrastructure and all. Bulgaria only had one million people, perhaps slightly more.

So wait, did my claims get ignored because you didn't like my map?

also

As of yet the French government has not allowed French scientists to release their own findings on the matter.

That's simply not true. I just didn't let foreign scientists help in the research in the story.

It was time. The perfect circumstances had come up. The military was in his pocket and Konstanty was busy doing nothing as usual. "Piotr are your men ready?" He got Piotr to handpick a group of 20 of the most loyal and best soldiers he had to offer. "Yes my friend they are all yours." Tensions were rising as he was preparing himself. "Piotr you're coming too." He seemed very surprised at this. "Why exactly Benedykt?" He might have said because you can lead the men or something to that sort but his answer was. "Because I need someone I trust by me if it goes to hell." Now was the time. "Men you have been handpicked by my good friend Piotr for this mission. It may be dangerous we don't know if he has managed to keep his bodyguards around him if my plan worked they will all be indisposed tonight. If this succeeds your names will go down in history! You will be heroes! I will personally allow you to take the position in the military that you wish. And if you wish to leave the military I will set you up with a house in Warsaw and a job with what you wish. Songs will be written about this day! The Polish people will sing our names for years to come! Konstanty is to be taken alive if anyone stands in the way kill them only as a last priority. Are you ready?" The collective shouting told him all he needed to know he put on his body armor and grabbed a weapon and they were off.

They started out from the far side of Warsaw and traveled by an armored personnel character. Everyone was excited on the drive he was just praying that everything would work. They did not get off at the capitol building, but a few blocks south. As they moved no one suspected their intent most waved at them, but none knew. When they reached the capitol building at first he thought the plan didn't work because of the guards standing outside. They casually walked up and one of the guards whispered to him. "He's alone." That's all he had to know from then it was just a straight shot to the office of Konstanty. When he reached the office He looked up from his desk. "Benedykt? What is the meaning of this?" He could see the confusion in his eyes. "I'm sorry Konstanty, but you are no longer in power here." Realization spread across his face. "Guards come arrest these traitors!" But none came. "Your prison will not lack for comforts you will have a room with a nice bed and constant meals as befits a man of your stature. But you will not be allowed to leave that building and people must think that you are dead." He made a motion to his guards and they grabbed each an arm of Konstanty and stopped at the door. Benedykt took his new seat. Konstanty had one final question. "Why?" Benedykt answered without hesitation. "Because I love my country." And Konstanty was taken away.

"What now?" Piotr was clearly curious with what he meant to do. "Well the government officials are already on my side they won't object the people clearly won't object as long as Poland is no longer communist." Benedykt was surprised that it worked so well. "I plan on setting up Poland as the New Polish Lithuanian commonwealth. What do you think about that?" Piotr was pleased by that statement "I will send word to your officials immediately." Piotr left the room. It was at this time that he noticed a small box underneath his desk with a note. "Thank you for serving me well Benedykt, but i'm sorry it had to end like this." Realization dawned on his face and it was all he could do to throw it out the window before his world went black. In an armored personnel carrier on it's way outside of Warsaw the recent Premier Konstanty IV was sitting in the backseat in between two guards. Laughing hysterically.

Piotr heard the explosion and rushed in and managed to call for a medic to get Benedykt out of their. Benedykt would have wanted him to finish the job should he have been indisposed. Gratefully Benedykt wasn't dead yet. But he had to finish the job in recreating the nation. So he gathered a meeting of the government leaders. "As you all know our new leader and founder of this new nation was put in a dire state of health do to the sabotage of Konstanty. Before I left he told me his plans for this nation was to recreate the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth. If anyone opposes this idea please state so now." No one was against it. "Very well effective immediately we will now be referred to as the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth and will no longer be associated with the former communist government. I have already dispatched a group of men to reclaim Lithuania as our own and expansion should be quick after that. Let us hope that our new leader recovers soon."

NATIONAL TELEVISION OF INDONESIA
"Bringing to Indonesia - The World."

Maiden flight for Indonesian Air Force’s latest toys.
JAKARTA, at Halim Perdana Kusuma airbase, spectators both civil and military has just witnessed the first flight of several Indonesian unmanned combat drones that would be used by the national Air Force.

The DT-1 “Dewantara” is one of the types of drones that performs and is the most common type of all drones. The Dewantara is capable of flying at a maximum speed of 2,665 km/h and cruise at about 275 km/h. The Dewantara is made to perform mostly aerial combat plus a minimal ground attack capability. Like other drones, it would be controlled from a forward base or from a home base.

Other types include the DGS-1 “Panah”, which are designed specifically for ground support. It is slower and bigger than the Dewantara, but it carries more firepower such as Air-to-Ground missiles and precision bombs for supporting advancing troops in the ground.

There are also other types such as surveillance drones to relay information to advancing armies about the situation in the battlefield and small remote drones that is designed to carry weapon and medical equipment(s) into the warzone; preserving the life(s) of many.

Other than the military, the Police forces will also apply drones as a method to combat crime by patrolling above the skies of Indonesian cities. These drones would not be armed however, and would only serve as a surveyor. But when a criminal act requires police intervention immediately; the police would launch minimally armed combat drone in response.

Despite the potential of changing the entirety of war and preserving irreplaceable human losses; these drone developments are not welcomed by everyone. Many human rights advocate worried that this is a step towards a police state where everything is observed, and engagements with drones may also result in unwanted collateral damages.

Responding to this, President Dearale said:
“With a war still raging in the Asia Pacific, a possible extension to Oceania, and the foreseeable threat of radical feminist violence, security and surveillance is necessary for the safety of our people and our nation. The government has never done any ill so far to its people and would of course continue to do so. This surveillance is not in any way an attempt to step into a policed society and the government would certainly use this power with care.”

Take australia. Their bloody conquest of Papua New Guinea has gone unnoticed, yet the claims and cries of our brothers of the big island resonate in our ears like nailed spears.
From: Indonesia
To: Oceania

This is a harsh baseless accusations against our allies in Canberra. We remind Oceania to not use smear attacks against Australia to justify your political decisions. Be aware that Indonesia supports Australia in this dispute and would continue to do so in a scenario of armed conflict.
