To Terran Emperor:
From Oceania
Whoops, it seems I forgot to incude you in my previous message, but please rest assured, you have always lived in my thoughts.
As I say always, our 'Pacific' (in both senses) nations, seek nothing but peace and prosperity in this world in rebirth, and will not claim big territories, only islands. Our hearts stand with the sea, and only with it. No interior land and mountains, thank you. And I do repeat my question: do I have the rights to claim things this turn, or just by spawning it's enough?

From: Malaccan Sciency Institution
To: First Sciency World Congress thin

The Government of Malacca will be funding the travel expenses of any Malaccan scientists wishing to attend the Congress. we are aware of some 54 requests so far.

OOC: Ask the GM, yo.

Rhodesian Scientists will be attending the Science Convention, for what it's worth.

IN DOMESTIC NEWS
Parliamentary elections have been concluded. The Union Party won 40% of the seats, the Liberal Party 20% ,the Communist Party 15%, the Nationalist party 25% and the Platonic party won merely 5% of the vote, thereby proving that the process went democratically and unhidered. It is surprising that the Nationalist Party won such a large amount of the vote.

IN FOREIGN NEWS
Rhodesia has decided to stay out of the People's militia - Platonic scuffle for now, although as we are more interested in stability we take some more opposition to the People's Militia

The Gangnam Republic will send all it's major scientists to the Global Science Convention, altough, for their own safety, and in case the Japanese come too, the Gangnam Scientists have been told to not reveal technologies that may be of use to the military.

Basically anything.

Since there's no difference between military and civilian tech other than semantics.

To the First Scientific Congress

Cyrus Antonopoulos, a keen engineer of the People’s Militia, will like to have permission to be among the congress in order for us to consider post-war civilian strategy and to help current efforts that would aid our strategists. We request to give him and a small party of fellow like minded intellectuals the chance to take part in the fair as representatives from the People’s Militia. In the end it will help the building of the post-Platonic order which will safe guard the liberties of all peoples.

I hope you accept this humble request.

Inas El-Ghazzaway, councillor of the People’s Militia’s Revolutionary Council.

To the Union of Texankana and the United States of America

We are aware of the USA's neutrality regarding rebellion but of also Texankana's opposition to the Platonic Caste System. Although we are prepared to conduct peaceful strategy against the oppressors we are also prepared for otherwise if need be. Hence forth we call a request resources from you and for you continued denouncement of the Platonic Republic. We struggle for the freedoms of the peoples, not matter what caste they formally belonged to; they are but victims of the chains, even the Governing Caste which alienates itself.

May our struggle be fruitful.

Usman Almasi, the right hand of Abu al-Fadl Abdulrashid and chief commander of the People's Militia's military forces.

To Christos200, The Empire of Japan:
I am eager to join your trade union. I expect this move will bring closer our nations.

From: Empire of Japan
To: Oceania

We welcome you to our trade union. Japanese businessmen are always willing to make investments in other nations and Japanese capital shall flow into Oceania. If you want, we can have Japanese companies help you develop and modernize your ports.

Also, we would like to offer you a military alliance. Japan has the greatest military power in the world by far and is currently crushing the UN forces and has pushed deep into China, crushing the pathetic Chinese communists.

@Japan You haven't noticed that Gangnam pushed you out of Beijing?

Is that supposed to be a defeat? I lost one city. So what? I did not leave any major military forces to guard Tianjin, since I knew that I would lose it. So, it is more letting the Koreans take over a city that has no use than a defeat.

Would private (not state) Japanese scientists be accepted into the convention?

The Eastern Hegemon does indeed have a policy of neutrality. The Western Hegemon, however, does not. Our stance has been repeatedly stated as support for Russian peacekeepers.

To The Empire of Japan:
Oceania will gladly accept investments from Japanese friends of ours. We are indeed two peoples that share the love for the seas, and we know that in this matter we have much to learn from one another.

Also, newz:
Apparently, the political and social system that Oceania is founded in, based in a quasi idyllic society organized in islands where everyone know each other is more than keen and pleasant on the one the Platonic empire is organized, as they share many values. With the recent second globalization of the world, tales of how this distant land is organized have indeed reached our ears.
But the inhabitants of Oceania also disapprove of the rigidities that form it; their point of view is that this type of 'eutopic' societies should be form most naturally, as it happened here, and everyone should be free to choose their destiny and let the natural selection decide who commands, who defends and produces, and who does something entirely different, if he wants and earns his life well.

The Russian Soviet Federation is in the market for schematics of modern military-grade weapons and vehicles. Just throwing that out there.

Reform of the Soviet Armed Forces: Formation of the Totalist Army and the Soviet Naval Corps said:
The Army of the Popular Front has been confirmed to be under serious reorganisation. Supreme Markovic has dubbed the “new and improved” army the Totalist Army, an army totally dedicated to the expansion of the Revolution and the security of its people. Along with reform in the command structure, the army is slated to be given more modern equipment in bulk.

“The current equipment used by the army at large dates back over 70 years ago at the oldest,” The Minister of Defense Bogdan Sokoloff stated in an address, “The Supreme Cabinet is cooperating to change this. The Minister of Industrial Production is speaking to District leaders as we announce this news to plan production quotas to make sure the peoples’ needs are met as well as getting our soldiers the equipment they need to defend our people. The plan is to partially mobilize the Districts for war as peacekeeping in Greece is expected to be met with adversity from both the revolters and the government if their respective followers subscribe completely to their leaders’ insane beliefs.”

The new mobilized production quotas being drafted, coupled with the recruitment campaign Supreme Markovic has drafted, “A Totalist Army for the Total of Russia” is expected to significantly increase the standing of the Russian military on the world stage.

Along with the reform of the army, a similar but not as dramatic reform of the Navy is underway. A higher standard with concern to naval training will be held, and although the command structure will go untouched, the Minister of Defense is looking for the Districts to build modern naval supplies, which in fact has priority over the modernization of the Army. It is something to be understood that the docks in both the Black Sea and the Baltic are young and naval development has not been touched in a major way even back during the Volgan years. The move to expand the navy has been met with roaring support from SAF brass and several Districts have already voiced waves of approval.

Once the goal of modernization has been met for the land and naval forces, Supreme Markovic has hinted at expanding the most-abused part of the Russian military, the Air Force.

France on Fire said:
A recent revolution has seen the French senate abolished. It appears a Newscaster declared herself President of their matriarchal society. The Red Square has yet to say anything about the happenings of France. Supreme Markovic did however say he will deliver an address to respond to all questions regarding how the RSF will react to worldwide developments later this month.

Rome Opens the Bosphorus said:
It is with joyful air that I announce the opening of the Bosphorus to Russian Peacekeepers. With the civil war in Greece underway, these peacekeepers will establish a zone of no violence across the entirety of the “Platonic Republic” and all of its holdings. Supreme Markovic assures the international community that the RSF has no intention to annex the Republic, and only means to restore order to an anarchic region.

Since there's no difference between military and civilian tech other than semantics.

Repeating myself: Gangnam scientists will not reveal any technology that can be used by the military to cause a high number of casualties in the enemy ranks in a small time frame.

Energy production and storage, medical research, studies and researches concerning daily human activities, economics, and the like will be discussed. Defensive systems, explosives, radars and detection systems, military efficiency studies, and other such subjects will be avoided by Gangnam scientists.

Capiche?

Also, @ Japan: Tianjin wasn't even the priority, but it consolidated Korean and Chinese positions on the mainland. It's not a big defeat for you. Heck, it's not a defeat at all. You owned it and had no military nearby, I came in and said "this is mine!". But why are we talking about this? Both my plans and your plans are going on the desired course. Yes, one of them will end up in a rather unpleasant way, but currently, everything is going well. Subject closed. NEXT.

From: Indonesia

Indonesia is interested in purchasing the Justinian, but we would need a description and clear explanation of its capabilities and its design.

it is nearly identical to the old CVN-65 Enterprise which sailed earths oceans for 50 years, and was retired in 2013.

the only difference is that it uses 2 thorium reactors for energy, additional cargo space for food and water (its meant to operate for a long time out in the open.), and a lot more automation, so fewer sailors are required to operate it.

we can modify it to suit Indonesian interests, whichever it may be. better ship to ship combat, more cargo for planes, all that is possible.

oh, also, i vastly overestimated the cost of building it. turns out its only 451 million, not 1 billion. so... 500 million and its yours.

Spoiler :
(OOC: i wanted to go down a different route in history..)

the Petition of independence

today, after he entered the white palace, and started working in his office overlooking the Bosporus, he come a across a petition right there in the 'in' box.

the Emperor Sighed. he knew that this was coming. the defeat at Taiwan, the peace treaty, the short scandal with the UAR, they must have affected these people. he phoned the senate, currently in a meeting debating what 'Civilian goods' are, and asked for the ministers in charge all the mentioned provinces.

When they all came to his office, this meeting took place:
Spoiler short conversation. not *that* important. :

Bulgarian minister: ah, Emperor Theodoros, I take it you saw the Petition?

Emperor: indeed i did. you want to tell me what this is about?

Kurdish minister: thats just it. we want independence from the Roman Empire. i know you may think that this is the result of the Failure of Taiwan, or the aftermath. it is not about that, at all.

Emperor: really? the fact that we lost most of our military and navy to Japan in a foolhardy invasion doesnt affect things at all?

Kurdish minister: it doesn't, despite the fact that that all of the provinces lost something. we all agreed that the invasion was necessary to try and cut off japan. we failed badly, so we had to retreat. and, besides, its kind of a bad move to leave the Empire for that.

Emperor: well... your show of loyalty is impressive. but, what harm could this do to the Roman Empire?

Kurdish minister: we calculated that you will lose 3 million people, about 10% of the industry, and very little else, since we arent heartless so as to not trade with the Empire.

Emperor: somewhat less than i expected... well, finally, do you have a reason for these:

Bulgarian minister: indeed we do Emperor. it's right over there

at that, the Emperor was handed a list of Grievances:

1. the utter domination of Greco-turkish culture. they number around 17 million people, while the others barely number 3 million total. this affected the representation, and no matter how hard Emperor Andreas and Emperor Theodoros did, they felt... marginalized. unimportant within the Empire.
2. the Absolute monarchy system was disagreeable to the majority of the minor ethnic groups. the Emperor holds the power. he alone can declare war. he alone can mobilize. he alone decides Policy, and so on. obviously, we feel that it isn't the best system.

Spoiler :
Emperor: only two reasons?

Cypriot Minister: you have to admit, these two reasons carry so much weight it might have been two hundred.

Emperor: that may be so, but... why didn't you try to address the second concern? i know we cant do anything about the first, but the second is fixable.

Bulgarian minister: we considered it, and even polled some of the Greco-turkish people of this question. we found out that these people are almost universally in favor of the monarchy. thus, we thought that any change, against a huge opposition, would fail almost immediately.

Emperor: as i expected. well, gentlemen, i am inclined to accept this petition, but it cannot be done right away, you understand.

Russian minister: of course sir, we expect it to be done in three months minimum. and, as a show of good faith, all of us has agreed to be allied to the Roman Empire, when Independence is finally granted.

Emperor: thank you. your kindness and honesty, as well as respect for the Lawful ways will be remembered.

Emperor Theodoros I of the Roman Empire has granted the petition, and allowed the above nations to declare independence. this map has been brought to world to see:

all of the independent nations will be allied with Rome, with free trade treaties in place.

(OOC2: im sorry if this all seems sloppy or unprofessional. this is my first ever try at this kind of RP.)

just re-posting it cause everyone seemed to miss this important development.

Deal, we purchase the Justinian for 500 million dollars

Jolly Good. it will be finished next season and be delivered to Jakarta by Roman sailors and a couple destroyers.

Continued from my last post, I forgot: we also accept and embrace the military ties that our trusting japanese allies tend us.
And maybe now, tye 3d time I ask, can someone respond to my question whether I can claim more land this turn or I am limited by my initial claims.

you can claim up to four more territories next turn. but, it will cost 2 claim points to claim a more than one pixel island. one pixel islands cost 1.

Vetoing the trade of the aircraft carrier that does not exist

And you can make claims this turn as think most people have been doing that sort of thing
