In a democracy you have to jail entire parliamentary groups if needed

Well1, the independent judges (two of them anyway) overseeing the "formation of a criminal organisation" accusation against some of the main members of the local anarcho-stalinist-metaxic-nazi group commonly known as 'the golden dawn', yersterday asked that all of the remaining (nine) parliament members of that scum-elected political group are made to appear to court so as to answer for the same accusation.

Sadly things are moving very fast towards a fully-blown dictatorship now. I fear that next month we will be declared a presidential dictatorship and lose 10 prestige :/ Already poor prestige disables us to sell colonies so as to pay for the debt.

While GD indeed have a large number of ludicrous people, they only rose to prominence due to the crooks and thieves that most other political parties here are almost entirely made of. The decision to accuse them as a "criminal organisation" was not only evidently a bad move (assuming the attempt was to make them less popular), but against the democratic system we supposedly still had here. Up to this day there was no link found between the three jailed GD members (who for the record are not yet accused officially, which makes this even worse) and the death of a rapper (sic) associated with the left (sic).

So it seems that if the rest of the parliamentary group is arrested, well, the may elections will be just a farse. Currently things look very bad.

Well, yes, but now the game has got to be a lot cruder than the usual. I am starting to think that there won't actually be a May election (by which i mean overall, not just in this Gau).

Greece still is not having any civil war climate nor any ability for one to become a reality, but i am starting to fear that the current "government" (which is also currently the supposed 'eu presidency' ) will do something more extreme. Already this latest development has made things worse than before.

Afaik most euro countries do not have any law which bans political parties that were deemed able by the supreme court to run for election. You may be thinking of German laws against nazi-parties, which seem to be there for good reason given that probably if those laws go away you would most likely see more nazis in the german parliament than before the outbreak of ww2...

But here it has been noted again and again (i mean the local media, which are far from being critical of the government anyway) that the court cannot declare any such party (gd) as unconstitutional. So the (two party) government which currently runs at something below 20% of votes in all polls, now tries to ban all of the elected parliamentary members of that party. It does not just smell like tyranny, it very clearly is, and what is worse is that it will only help make gd stronger (like the original jailing of the three gd parliament members did).

So yeah, this government we now have (and the eu has ) is nothing short of a dictatorship, and utterly hated by the vast majority of the population (which by far, obviously, exceeds those who would vote for gd).

So can I get a reasonable take on the Golden Dawn that is not a long wiki article, nor containing the mish-mash of scare words listed in the OP? Because the wiki section detailing the connections to nazism is pretty convincing.

They are nazi murdering scum, although it is not proven they are murdering scum. So currently they are jailed for being nazi (well... the accusation is that they are a criminal organisation).

Maybe they are 150% nazi, but a label is not grounds for sending a parliamentary party to jail. Supposedly the country still has a constitution and is vaguely democratic. Banning parties because you are a <20% of the vote government, and want to save yourself from getting even less votes in the May election, is rather a bit of a jerkish thing to do, along with dictatorial..

Democracy&#8482; is a myth. If it was not, it would cease to exist immediately after the first democratic&#8482; elections.

The tradegy of people outside West (West West, which Greece is not part of, regardless of being a predecessor of the former) is that they fall into that trap, they take this myth seriously and so their desire of Good Civilized Society&#8482; turns into unsatisfiable lust for Democratic Society&#8482;. I see your point, but the thing is that it is still illegal to fabricate a "criminal organisation" accusation so as to jail elected members of parliament. It is not illegal to label them nazi, and afaik they deserve it (at least their leader and his magazine in the 80s). But this is obviously not justifying the sort of political party banning going on now here..
