Hu...

Well, I guess that you should call me when you're back on Earth. Not likely soon, seems to be cool in fantasyland...

(meantime, I'll drown these ants with some shallow water and laugh madly when they form their baseball-like aggregate that my children have so much fun aiming at with their stones)

BTW : water also runs perfectly in underground tunnels. And ants aren't more amphibious underground either.

Just 2 more question?

1.- How much water it will took to flood europe/asia continent ? America ? Australia ?

2.- If my underground army destroy your infrasrtucture ( ground subside) before you know what is going on, what will you do ? No more electrical power for your sea water pump...ect..ect... See it as our first strike attack.

I read somewhere that all the ants on the planet outweigh all the humans on the planet. And since it take a thousand ants to weigh a pound... that is a lot of ants.

I know what would work if ants were to attack. We could befriend and gain the trust of the ants if we leave them gifts, maybe we ally with them and help them destroy our enemies. We then give the defeated countries to the ants, so that they move out of our own and into the defeated, where they can do whatever they want. Then we would start a mass education system for the ants, because the ants haven't invented anything for a couple million years. In return for the education, each colonie would have to serve in the EU/American army for 20 years.
All in all, it would be a victory on both sides.

If every ant on the planet just, at the exact same time, spontaneously crawled out of the ground and swarmed on everything, then they'd have a very high chance -- after all, they'd be taking us by surprise. But if there was some warning before they attacked, then we'd probably win.

Ant's V Humans. Hmmm, I can see only one winner. We would have overwhelming firepower, greater knowledge and would be able to communicate with each other. Perhaps i am underestimating the intelligence of ants, i don't know.

It will take big efforts. So what ? Even if half of the planet is left destroyed, humans have still the ability to win, while ants haven't.

And additionnally, why would we need so much water ? We would only need to flood the hives, or the places where ants are concentrating. If they aren't concentrated, they pose no threat.
2.- If my underground army destroy your infrasrtucture ( ground subside) before you know what is going on, what will you do ? No more electrical power for your sea water pump...ect..ect... See it as our first strike attack.
Yeah, of course, excavations big enough to make a whole city collapse would go totally unnoticed.
Milliards of ants moving toward human settlements would go totally unnoticed.
Maintenance crews would absolutely never see the millions of ants crawling into the systems.

And EVEN if they did succeed in a totally unrealistic extend, well, they would kill some millions humans. Or tens of millions. Or even, if you really lose all connection to reality, one or two milliards.

Well, then the rest of humanity would crush them.
Because, again and again, all the "ants win" scenario, are based on having intelligent ants acting intelligently in a total war manner, against humans who don't raise a fingher. Well, big news : humans do have the ability to react. And thinks. Yes, we can think. We can understand that it's time to move a bit when there is some millions ants crawling toward us. Staggering, I know.

For the fifth time :

- Ants can only kill a human if he's helpless AND they are in big numbers.
- Ants in big numbers can be very easily dispatched.
As humans aren't helpless, and as they have plenty means of killing large numbers of ants, ants have already lost.
EVEN if they act in the intelligent manner they DO NOT POSSESS !

we should create a battle of 10 humans vs. the corresponding number of ants on a place roughly matching earth in terms of water, ice, desert, grasslands... :)

anyway, if there is really such a great danger in those insects, I think we should not point out that resistance is futile, those insects are not Borg, but think how to get rid of them with the least casualties. :)

are these the same ants i know. you mean the small little bugs. if they are then i myself have already waged this war many times. sure i had some defeats (we lost our packet of icing sugar) but so far i have only had one casualtity (a ant climed in side my little brothers ear) but i have killed much much more of them.
On red alert retaliation. if you clock all the missions on hard theres a campagin in which giant ants invade england (commie ants) and i have manged to defeat them (more of a holding action they keep coming for ever). so if the ants want to tango bring it on.

Please note iam talking about new zealand ants which can't fly, poison or even bulid mountains

i find a war against Bees and wasps to be more dangeours.

No, ants are much more dangerous than the wasps around where I live, the worst thing they do is fly into people's faces and drop to the ground.

This reminds me: what insect race have we ever eradicated? Cockroaches? Mosquitos? Wasps? Killerbees? Locusts? Houseflies?
Those bleeders are indestructable!

I'd like to extend the war - now the ants have an ally , the bees . Let's see how humanity copes with that .

Note : This is one in a series of expansions to keep the thread topic alive and the debate interesting . More ant-allies to come later .

Bees are a much tougher lot for us : no conveniently crawling on earth. They can fly, they are nimble, and their poison is awfully worse.
This would require some R&D in the toxic departments. Some kind of pheronoms suppressors would be useful.

Bees would be horribly difficult to defend against. I imagine lots of smoke being used against them - and protective suits.

The War has started........

MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA).- according to El Mundo newspaper, a large colony of argentinian ants ('Iridomyrmex humilis'), has been detected by a team of bioligists belonging to the university of Monash.

The colony spreads throughout 100 kms. And experrts point out they could prove to be a hazard for native plants and animals.

They don't seem to be as aggressive as their argentinian cousins but they seem to have undertaken some natural mutation which makes them reproduce very quickly, says biologist Elissa Suhr.

Is this the beginning........or the end ?

I was thinking ... The ants are able to eat all of our food resources . Like the grasshopers (remember the old testament ) . That would be really bad for the humans ...

... Unless we start eating the ants .

You mean besides aquatic ones? Fish and seaweed already go a long way, and there are no ants in that particular ecosystem.

Lol...humans would win for sure, what could ants do to humans??? NOTHING! no ant is capable of killing a man...and humans would only need to kill the ant-queens that lay eggs and the problem would be solved...
