We shall sign the it, how about the Tech Accord.

That is fine with us. May your enemies come down with the plague.

Sorry, but i really didn't feel like updating since Halloween was a lot of fun this year. If you had as much fun as i did, you wouldn't have updated either.

May your enemies come down with the plague.

There is something about that sentence that seems vaguely out of place in a 20th century NES...

Coming soon to an NES near you:

-An unstable region launches its long-awaited major war.
-A formerly decaying nation escalates a massively unexpected rise to local supremacy
-An uneasy ceasefire begins.

Coming in an hour (hopefully), on In the Shadow of Rome.

Hopefully, France will be the supreme

That wouldn't make much sense as France was already in civil war for three turns now. ;) Plus it isn't strictly-speaking a region...

-An unstable region launches its long-awaited major war.

Really don't know... South America seems the most likely answer at first, but is a war with Colombia "major"?

-A formerly decaying nation escalates a massively unexpected rise to local supremacy

China!

-An uneasy ceasefire begins.

Well, that much is obvious...

WORLD EVENTS

MAJOR ADVANCE IN JAPAN. Tokyo, Japan. The research team of Dr. Yoshio Nishina has made an astonishing breakthrough in development of new products and theories with the newly formed Nishina Uncertainy Principle. The Convention in Switzerland has awarded Dr. Nishina the Nobel Prize for his new development.

CEASEFIRE IN FRANCE. Vichy, France. Communist and Free French diplomats arrived at this small French city on the border of the two fighting factions and have hammered out a ceasefire proposal calling for free elections in October. Though both sides remain with a armed border, fighting has for the time stopped. Many observers hope that the English Civil War will end just as well. Soviet, German, and Russian forces have all been withdrawn in hopes of a lasting peace.

GERMANY DEPLOYS NEW TANK. Berlin, Germany. German forces have unvieled the Axis' newest weapon in the form of an upgraded version of the Panzer II, the Panzer III. With a newly designed 50mm cannon, the Panzer III is undeniably the most powerful tank in the world.

CUBAN VOTE IS IN ADMIST CRISES. Havanna, USCA. The Cuban people's votes have been tallied, and an overwhelming 91% of the Cuban people have voted to join the United States of Central America. However, 10 Dutch observers were apprehended by Central American authorities and are now in custody by the USCA government. Other foriegn observers have announced that the vote was fair and the results are accurate.

USCA ECONOMY BOOMS WITH EXPANSION. San Salvador, USCA. The Central American economy has exploded with the acquisition of the Panama Canal from Colombia and the annexation of Cuba. The new territories have allowed the growth of new businesses and the Canal trade has caused entirely new growth all of its own. The sale of Belize to the USCA by Free England has also been a major factor in this formerly destitute nations' rapid reconstruction.

FREE AMERICAN ALLIANCE FIELDS NEW PLANE. Boston, New England. With the blooming war against the United States, the Free American Alliance has unleashed a fighter to counter the Warhawk. The Mule is a formidable plane capable of outgunning the Warhawk. Studies in fights over the battlefield conclude that the Mule is superior to the Warhawk in combat.

USA ATTACKS CALIFORNIA AND NEW ENGLAND. Chicago, USA. American authorities have announced that Californians were caught attempting to invade United States soil and that the USA has launched a full-scale military retaliation against California and its allies. This has been sullied by the public release of a message from the American ambassador to Canada, acknowledging the USA's intention to attack the Free American states. See below for more details.

WAR BEGINS IN SOUTH AMERICA. Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The Brazillian, Japanese, Chinese, and Philippeno governments have all issued declarations of war against Colombia for their aggression against Brazillian naval forces this previous May. Venezuela is honoring their treaty with Colombia, even as the Pacific Agreement forces begin their attack.

-CONFEDERATE-TEXAN WAR-

DALLAS SURRENDERS TO PATTON. Dallas, occupied Texas. With the playing of the Texan national anthem 'Alamo Forever', the Texan capital's forces have surrendered to the Confederate Army under General Patton. Though the President of Texas was captured, General Eisenhower continues to lead the Texan army against the Confederate forces.

CONFEDERATES REACH THE RIO GRANDE. Rio Grande, Mexican-Texas border. As fighting rages around Lubbock, the South Front of the Confederate Army under General Marshall has managed to reach the Rio Grande against minor Texan resistance.

CONFEDERATES ASSUALT LUBBOCK. Lubbock, Texas. The main armies of the Confederacy and Texas are clashing near Lubbock as Patton's armies attempt to encircle Eisenhower's main army located in the city. The assault has boiled down to a slugging fest as the Texans desperately fight to prevent their largest army from being trapped by the Confederates. The newly designed Free American Alliance Mule has proven itself as an infantry support weapon in this theater as strafing of Texan troops has been astonishingly effective.

Casualties

Texan: 21,000 Infantry, 90 Light Tanks
Confederate: 12,000 Infantry, 30 Lees

-2ND GREAT AMERICAN WAR-

CSA-USA BORDER QUIET. Louisville, CSA. Confederate and United States forces have been quiet with the exploding war between the USA and the Confederacy's allies. Some Confederate politicians have expressed the belief that for now its allies must fend for themselves with the growing internal and external issues resulting from the Texas War.

US FORCES SWARM INTO NEW ENGLAND. A massive American army has invaded New England, pushing easily into Upper New York. However, the largest section of the American force has hit heavy resistance at the gates of New London, and the urban defenses and heavy air support have been devastating to the US advance. With the use of the new Mule fighter, the New Englanders have managed to gain air superiority over the battlefield.

Casualties

New Englander: 16,000 Infantry, 60 Light Tanks, 25 Lees, 15 Mules
US: 22,000 Infantry, 110 Light Tanks, 30 Warhawks

UTAH EXPLODES AS US INVADES. Salt Lake City, California. The Mormon people have been a supressed group ever since their exodus from the United States in the 1850s. For a time from 1877 to 1932 they were independant, until annexation by California, supported by Italy. Now with the definitely anti-Mormon United States army advancing, the Mormon people have risen up and indiscriminately attacked both sides' troops. Other than that, the American advance has hit a brick wall as prepared Californian troops expected the direct assualt through the east, and have halted the US advance with heavy casualties on both sides. As in New England, the Californian Mule has proven superior to the Warhawk and the Californians have gained air superiority in this theater. Despite the success in the air, the German-designed Panzer II has been successfully demonstrated as far superior to the Lee tanks and has been a key part in the American advance so far.

Casualties

Californian: 34,000 Infantry, 80 Lees, 20 Mules
US: 48,000 Infantry, 25 Panzer IIs, 40 Warhawks

FREE AMERICAN FORCES ADVANCE ON VANCOUVER. Canadian and Californian forces have launched a major offensive towards Vancouver in the United States. Californian forces began the assualt by siezing Victoria Island, and sealing off the US west coast from naval vessels. Canadian forces advancing from the north have liberated a large part of occupied Canada, and have been met by cheering crowds. With the secondary Californian assualt from the south, it seems as though Vancouver should fall by the end of August.

Casualties

Californian: 4,000 Infantry
Canadian: 5,000 Infantry, 10 Lees
US: 12,000 Infantry, 30 Light Tanks

CANADIAN ARMIES SIEZE BISMARCK. Bismarck, occupied USA. Canadian forces, launching a major offensive into the northernmost parts of the United States, have siezed the city of Bismarck. With the American armies spread all across the Canadian border, the Canadian armies easily penetrated here and have begun an advance down the Mississippi River.

Casualties

Canadian: 3,000 Infantry
US: 5,000 Infantry

US FORCES MASSCRE CANADIAN ASSUALT. Toronto, USA. A small American army under General Bradley has managed by daring heroics to smash a Canadian army nearly four times its size. Sneaking over the border in the daylight, Bradley's five biplanes surprised and attacked the closely parked planes of the Canadian Army Air Corps. Over fifty planes were destroyed and the Canadians were left without air support for their advance on Toronto. When they did advance they were met by well-prepared American forces, who were massed in exactly the right places. The US army was forced to fall back when they ran low on bullets, but the damage against the Canadian army was far more severe than the damage on the US one.

Casualties

US: 6,000 Infantry, 40 Light Tanks, 5 Biplanes
Canadian: 33,000 Infantry, 70 Lees, 60 Mules

-SOUTH AMERICA WAR-

COLOMBIAN BATTLESHIP SUNK. The Colombian battleship has been hunted down and destroyed in harbor by the Japanese and Brazillian navies. So far this has been the only blood shed in the war.

JAPANESE TASK FORCE ARRIVES IN BRAZIL. Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The Japanese army has sent a force of nearly 300,000 personell to assist the Brazillians in the war to fight the Colombians. Although these forces were intially tasked alongside several Brazillian divisions to take the Panama Canal, the USCA annexation of the region has rendered their mission useless and the Japanese soldiers sit in a multitude of Brazillian seaside cities waiting for orders.

-ENGLISH CIVIL WAR-

FREE ENGLISH SIEZE ASIA. Singapore and the English East Indies have all been siezed by the Free English forces. The complete abscense of Communist English army or navy forces in Asia has indubitably contributed to the successes in the area. New Zealand has been sheltered by the Australian navy who have refused access of the Free English to the region. Though Australia has not actively gotten involved like the USER, they have not recognized the Free English as the legitamate government.

BRUTAL FIGHTING IN ENGLAND. Birmingham, England. The majority of the communist English forces have assualted the Free English all over England proper. Brutal fighting has occurred in heavily urbanized England, and the urban fighting has been telling on both factions' armies. Despite the heavy fighting, niether side has gained much ground and it has been decisively proven that tanks are near useless in urban combat. This is easily demonstrated by the massive losses in both sides' armored corps.

Casualties

Free English: 39,000 Infantry, 510 Light Tanks
Communist English: 36,000 Infantry, 8,000 Marines, 420 Light Tanks, 70 Lees

SOVIETS LAND IN INDIA. Soviet forces have landed and established a beachhead southwest of New Delhi. Local resistance has been high and several soldiers have been killed by local agitators. In retaliation for these resistance raids, Soviet commanders have deployed posion gas against native civilians, wiping out entire villages. Despite this, no direct confrontation has occured between the English and Soviet armies. A different scenario occured at sea as the Free English navy sortied against the Soviet escort fleet sent to support the invasion. In a vicious confrontation, the English were driven off, but devastating casualties were inflicted upon the Soviet navy. All but two of the Soviet battleships sent were lost, as were the majority of battlecruisers, while the English lost three of their eleven battleships sent to the battle. Some Soviet submarines were involved, although most were involved with trade interception throughout the Indian Ocean.

Casualties

Soviet: 4 Battleships, 12 Battlecruisers, 7 Heavy Cruisers, 9 Light Cruisers, 14 Destroyers, 2 Submarines
Free English: 3 Battleships, 7 Battlecruisers, 4 Heavy Cruisers, 5 Light Cruisers, 29 Destroyers, 10 Submarines

Your use of poison gas against civilians is disgraceful. We demand that you cease using poison gas on civilian areas or we willl be forced to help the people of India to advert a humanitarian crisis in this civil war.
