In which countries have you been already?

Tunesia - Arabs.. Didn't like it. The landscape was just as ugly as the people. Our taxi driver told us that he bought his wife for two camels.

I can't believe a racist post like this can get through:

Let say I write this:

Germany - Nazi: didn't like it. The landscape was just as ugly as the people, all SS looking. Our taxi driver told us that he burned his turkish neighbour's house for a beer.
Well I 'll be ashamed if I think or write stuff like that.

Sorry for that but this thread is simply outrageous.

by the way, I visited:
Tunisia where I was born and lived 19 years: beautifull country and very friendly people, even with our 1 million/year german guests ;) .
France where I live now: the country where I found my wife.
New York where I lived 3 years: the "City" every one has to visit.
Quebec: big big big
Australia: even bigger and so different from a place to another. I would live there if it was closer to the "old" world.
Vietnam: wet, water everywhere, and so different from what I am used to.
Morocco: a great combination of arab and berber culture, a very coulorfull country.
Spain: Fiesta
Germany (Bavaria): great beer, nice people.
Check republic: even better beer, Prague is just too beautifull and romantic.
The Netherlands: high (even if they are called the opposite).
Belgium: tasty beer, mussells and chocolate.
Greece: Beautifull, I had a weird feeling walking on the same roads Alexander, Plato or Socrate once did.

There will always be more-ons Hannibal! Respecting other cultures isn't that easy for a lot of us. It happens everywhere in the world!

well, he didn't say he didn't like it because they were Arabs, just because the people there were ugly and the landscape too. He does indeed imply it's about the Arabs...and probably means it as well....but he couldn't get banned for this :(

PT2 probably thinks Scotland is a city in England ;) !

Some of my ancestors were Scots, I know where Scotland is. I was speaking about 'Britain' in general, where CurtS is. I know full well about European geography, and a fair amount of history, etc. - but the point is, I'd feel out of place there. I wouldn't have any business being there. Go for a walk on the beaches of the French Riviera for a modest price of 25 thousand USD to walk in some sand- sure OK, then what... I wouldn't have any idea. I hate being in places I don't know. And over there, that's all there would be. That doesn't sound 'fun' and 'exotic' - that sounds confusing, haphazard, foreign, dangerous, unknown, unsafe, vexing, perplexing, alien, expensive, depressing, severely impractical, pointless, blah blah blah, etc.

Hey, maybe I'll just go to Europe next year. We were thinking about going to a couple of F1 races, like at Spa, Monza, etc. Maybe I'll go to my 'old' family's stomping grounds along the German Rhine/ east France, etc. Then I can start accumulating my 'list' - and come back and start showing off.

Then I'll finally be cool, & 'cultured'... yeah...

Only Canada, and the USA, but seeing as how they are the 2nd & 3rd largest countries in the world, respectively -

I don't mean to burst your bubble PT2, but the USA is 4th largest in the world, China is 3rd (and for trivia mongers out there, Brazil is 5th)

I do agree with you that there is much more to America than on the coasts. I've been all across your country, I know what you are talking about.

There you Canadians go again, always trying to put us down - that's why I don't go there anymore. Haven't been there in about a decade, and I'll never go back probably.

The U.S. is larger than China:

Now, go pick on someone else, you....foreigner!

Actually, if he was talking about land area (which I assume he was), China is larger than the US by 167,450 square kilometers. The US is only larger if you factor in the area covered by water under US control.

And I do hope you didn't mean that as a troll.

The U.S. is larger. It is the third largest country in the world. Your point is irrelevant. Why don't I start talking about the illegal occupation of Tibet? Eh? More pointless debate. I am right. You guys are wrong. RTF facts. I am not trolling. You are wrong there, too.

Moderator Action: Is this trolling? Yes i think it is. Perhaps he isn't so wrong after all. Cool it. Col

You are always wrong, it seems. That tends to happen when you haven't done any research whatsoever.

As I said before, it is larger only if you factor in "territorial sea" and other bodies of water that the US controls. I believe that it was land area that sysyphus was talking about. In a way, however, you are both correct. And I would like to point out that the US seized land from indiginous Native Americans, so I guess that occupation is illegal too. And while I would support it if China gave Tibet its independence, right now, Tibet is a part of China proper.

Well, if you want to say that, then fine - but you are wrong.
And, if you want to argue with the facts, then fine - but you're wrong there, too.

Well, all you hae to do is read:
Area:
This entry includes three subfields. Total area is the sum of all land and water areas delimited by international boundaries and/or coastlines. Land area is the aggregate of all surfaces delimited by international boundaries and/or coastlines, excluding inland water bodies (lakes, reservoirs, rivers). Water area is the sum of all water surfaces delimited by international boundaries and/or coastlines, including inland water bodies (lakes, reservoirs, rivers).

Maybe you have heard of:
Great Salt Lake
Lake Michigan
Lake Superior
Lake Erie
Lake Ontario
Lake Huron
Lake Tahoe
10,000 lakes of Minnesota
Lake Okeechobee
Lake Mono, CA
Missouri River
Mississippi River
countless #'s of reservoirs & other rivers

etc. etc. Or maybe you haven't heard of them, I don't know.
The USA is larger than China. I am right, and you guys are wrong. But then, what else is new around here.

If you factor in bodies of water under the control of each nation, then you are right. If you count strictly LAND area, then we are right. Can you at least accept this?

All countries on this earth were 'seized' from someone else, in some cases several times. I don't want to hear about it. I happen to be part 'Native American', btw. And as for Tibet, which is about 1/5 - to 1/4 of China, it was completely illegally occupied, and for many years this was not recognized as part of China. Eventually it was, mainly due to the fact that it's in a part of the world, that is of virtually no interest to the west.

I'm not arguing with the facts, in total area (land, water, etc.) the USA is larger than China

I am right, and you guys are wrong. But then, what else is new around here.

Still trolling, I see.
You could just call us all idiots. That would still get your message across, but make your posts smaller

So what makes Tibet any different? Isn't it just another country that was 'seized' by a stronger neighbor?

i havent heard of those lakes, but land should be the deciding factor for sizes of countries not some stupid lake.

I accept that China has more land area, because that is fact.
I also accpet that the USA is the (slightly) larger country, because that is fact.

#1 - Russia
#2 - Canada
#3 - USA
#4 - China
#5 - Brazil

etc.

There's your official list. That is fact. And I'm not going to have some Canadian weasel his way into making everyone think otherwise, simply because he wants to put the U.S. down.
But, yet, I am trolling. Yeah.

Some stupid lake...
What makes a country larger than another is it's "Area" - which can include water. Take away China's rivers, lakes, reserviors, etc. - and it's number would be smaller, as you see. But again, "area" is what is counted. Not hard to understand.

Btw, here's a top 20 list I found right quick...
