What's with all the "I'm staunchly <religion>, be careful!" signatures? What value do people see in putting that in their sig?

Unity is one thing. Some people (some religious people included) think Catholics are backwards people. I feel I must warn them that I in fact am one of them. What is the point in responding to a closed minded Catholic?

I'm also known by some for acting a bit overzealous, even though they know I am not actually overzealous. That ties in as well, too.

The third is a funny quote and an oportunity to use the newest added smiley.

Will it pass by or will it hit ? If it does, should i bow before it and live untill it comes again, what if it comes too soon ? Or shall i defy it and wage a war ?
