Inappropriate AD banners on CFC?

What is the deal with those AD's on CFC about Trojan Condoms and matchmaking services. I think I even once saw an AD linking to a porno movie about chasing cheerleaders. Are CFC posters really that desperate? ;)

So my point is, you moderators complain that our posts are not always appropriate for many posters under 18 (I once had one of my posts deleted because I had the word "condom" in it), and yet you have these AD's.

Maybe it's only under Thunderfall's control? Please don't take any offense. :D

I understand CFC needs to make money and if the only way then is to have these AD's then I have no problems against it.

Sorry, but I have ad-blocking software :D. Although the Amazon ad gets through, sometimes. As for the others, though, not a trace. :)

Those ad banners are controled by UGO. I don't like them also but at least they are not putting popups on the forum.

I don't make any money off the ad banners and popups anyway.

Then I guess a complaint to the host. (telefragged or the advertiser, UGO..). I don't like the ads either.

i have noticed the ad banners but none of which you speak there i normally dont pay much attention to them

You had your post deleted because of the word condom?? Was that here at CFC?

Someone once had a thread titled something like "PTW or 5 months supply of condom" in the Civ3 General Discussion forum and I commented on how such a thread title is attracting a lot of attention. The moderator didn't like it.

That is hardly just the word, 'condom'. I can imagine there was more 'mature' content in that post than just that word...

Heh, I told you it would happen..... :crazyeye: ;)

I hope UGO gets their act together soon and tosses these ads. :ack:

Ahh yes, that post, along with others and other comments on the topic of condoms instead of Civ3 or RON, was deleted to remedy the thread and to return it to it's proper topic w/out the then current discussion 50% of which regarded condoms w/out any intelligent references whatsoever or references that even belonged in the forum in the first place.

These ads are stupid...we are all civ geeks, WHO TRIES TO SELL CONDOMS TO CIV GEEKS!!!!! Honestly, they 'ought to be advertising that crap elsewhere.

That's an advert for Lynx deodorant! As I recall, the cheerleader is the one doing the chasing.

Obviously duke must've clicked on it. :mischief: You know....just to "check it out". :p ;)

Yup.... I see the trojan ad every time I pm somebody.

Interesting ad experience:

My computer was running slow and I was scrolling down.. It stopped and I went to click on what I wanted to, but then the screen moved down and I instead clicked on the ad.... (Faster internet thingy I believe) all it did was make the ad a pop-up.

Lynx deoderant... Now we know what Unix users use! (Lynx is a unix text browser). (I know, bad joke,,,)

That add was funny. :D

Though a little truth in advertising would be nice. I mean, that doesn't happen every time I wear the stuff. Once or twice a week, but not every time. ;)

I also use ad blocking software that lets the Amazon ad thourgh.

I use a blocking deoderant to keep away cheer leaders when out with my wife

I don't care what ads they put up there, as long as we don't have pop-ups like we had before!!!!!
Hmmmmm when did they show porno ads? :D
