We are winning this war. We will make no deals.
To: Harappa
From: Mohenjo Daro

I see you have changed your tune from this. Here is what I offer. Make your choice:

1. We will establish the current borders for our nations and you will pay Mohenjo Daro 1 EP each turn for 5 turns. You will agree to a 10 turn NAP. You will not increase your army beyond its current size for the duration of the NAP. You will not interfere in Mohenjo Daro business in any way.
or
2. You will grant Mohenjo Daro the eastern half of your remaining territory including the TC. You will agree to a 10 turn NAP. You will not interfere in Mohenjo Dro business in any way.

For our part, we will not attack you or interfere with your nation unless you break one of the provisions of the treaty. We will honor our side of the agreement.

If you persist on the path of war, your kingdom, your family and your very person will disappear from Indian history. Choose carefully.

...Our two nations are like brothers, you know. Both born of the Indus. You...you would not end our culture, would you? We would be interested in a peace agreement, so long as you allow us to maintain an independant nation.

EDIT: We choose choice one.

OOC:

@ j eps: Welcome!

I was waiting for a time where I had some available, AND a NES that was relatively new, and a good concept. This one had both.

Thanks for the compliment. However, as I read over your orders, I noticed that you wanted to both start a great project, and spend an eco point doing something else, as well. Great projects cost one eco per turn, to keep running. If you left your orders as-is, I would create your project, but it would not progress on the first turn. However, you can change your orders.

Besides that, however, your orders were quite good. Actually, they are better than some of the orders I get from some of the veterans.

Then I will choose...and grant your wish. I choose option 2 and Mohenjo Daro will protect your kingdom should the need arise and you may continue to rule your diminished kingdom.

We will agree to this.

OCC: I need to talk to you Littleboots. I will send you a PM but it would be best over AIM.

Sorry I haven't been around tonight. I should be available most of the day tomorrow, as I have very few classes Thursday. PM basics and we can work the rest out on AIM?

@Birdjaguar: Due to well, it seems, temporary blindness :crazyeye: , I did not see the peace agreement choices you proposed, when I wrote Harappa's dialogue. If I did, I would have chosen the option one, and I don't feel like I really can maintain that mistake.

Harappa chooses the option you didn't. Hopefully you won't be all that irritated. Or...

We agree to your proposed NAP.

Oh ok, sorry. Do not start the Great Project YET, but if possible save the idea and effects for a turn that I have more eco points

You are a pathetic flip flopping worm of a king, but we will honor our offer and your revised decision to choose option 1: army limits, NAP and 1 EP to us for five turns. I strongly sugget that you don't try my patience any further.

OOC: I will add 1 EP to my spending for 5 updates and note its source.

We appreciate your patience while we ended the Harappan War. I think that the people of our disputed lands have made up their minds about who they want to rule them. I propose that we draw the boundary as shown on the map. Those lands that rebelled when our army left go back to Bengal. Those that did not remain as part of Mohenjo Daro. People in the small pockets may freely migrate to Bengali lands. We also want a 10 turn NAP. Because we are freely returning a TC to you and guaranteeing your possession for at least 10 turns (if not far longer) we also ask for 2 EP this turn to seal the deal.

Yellow areas go to Bengal.

Passover. One of the Shalosh HaRegalim, the three holidays that you must make a pilgrimage to the Beit HaMikdash, the holy temple. The port villiage of Adulis was home to a man named Yarden Ben Zohar. It was the busy season, as people went to the port to go sail across the Red Sea to Jerusalem. He was walking through the Market, a very busy place during holiday season.

"Matzah, get your Matzah! No better way to celebrate Pesah than with Matzah!" "Sheep, get your sheep! You need to give a Passover offering, and what could be a better way to remember the lamb's blood on doorposts than with the offering of a sheep itself? "

Merchants selling goods ranging from Wine and Coffee to Tobacco, Ivory and Gold shouted and showed their wares.

Pitiful, he said to himself, that people should be subjected to this just to get to the Beit HaMikdash. Why don't we have one in our own nation? We have Cohenim and Leviim here, we could have sacrifices, and give the Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot offerings in peace, without having to risk the Sea, and have mass exoduses from Axum thrice yearly.

With that, he went and stood on a pedestal in the centre of the marketplace and started telling others his idea. Soon half of Adulis was grumbling about the voyage. What will come of this, he asked himself. Probably nothing, but...

Yeah. not great, but my first.[party] EDIT: AND THIS NES'S TOO! They will improve over time, and de-Jewify. Real stories, not neccessarily about orders or things like that.

Not just your first NESing story, but the first in my NES, too. :D

EDIT: And don't forget, people. Stories equal bonuses for your nation in the random events section of the update. So, write them.

From Axum

In order to provide the western world with this trade, we would like to sign a Free Trade Agreement with you.
Hail mighty Axum. Greetings from Ashoka, Prince of Mohenjo Daro. We will trade with you that prosperity for both may now ensue.

Ashoka surveyed his gathered ministers, generals and courtiers. They waited patiently and with a bit of nervousness, not sure what exactly he would say. Peace was new to them and not to be taken lightly. Ashoka rose to his feet and spoke:

“My lords and generals, the great war is over. Peace is king over all India. The Harappa have been…curtailed, the Bengali brought closer. Perhaps, they will even be friends one day. With peace will come rebuilding and prosperity for all who live within our borders. This was promised and today I deliver on that promise. Our farmers will go back to farming, our merchants back to trading, and our teachers back to teaching. We will again open our borders to those who would trade with us and we will seek new cities in which to sell our wares. India will reach out to the world around and embrace those who would prosper with us. Go now and spread the word that we are at peace. Let the people rejoice and celebrate; from princely stores feed the hungry and clothe the naked; garland the gods and let us heal this great land and bind up its wounds. That is the task at hand and I command it.”

As Ashoka stopped speaking a glance to the right told him Sashi was waiting in the shadows. Her bright silks and brighter smile danced harmoniously in the somber audience hall. Without further words to the assembled crowd Ashoka all but ran in pursuit of his now fleeing bride. She darted amongst the heavy stone columns and dark corridors of the palace. He knew that when he least expected it, Sashi would be there, waiting as he turned some corner or stepped across a threshold. His beloved would take him by surprise… and he quickened his pace.
