You are implying the wisdom in that particular post why?

Is TROOF positively correlated to the quantity of alcohol consumed in bad company?

TROOF is that stuff the man doesn't want you to know, man. Just like herstory.

If your a Muslim there is a friendly conspiracy of the whole world (ruled by Masons and Jews) that says that the Satanists and Jews did 9/11
Its Called The arrivals, look it up on youtube

How many Muslims do you think believe that nonsense? Do you think it is as many as American truthers?

You are implying the wisdom in that particular post why?
You brightened my day.
Thank you for giving me the laugh-a-day doctors said I should have for optimal health.

I think the problem is the way the question was phrased. Instead of asking who was responsible, they should have asked who flew the planes into the buildings.

But what if someone doesn't believe any planes hit the World Towers? :p

Anyways, the Middle East pretty obviously has a higher percentage of nutjobs than America or the west in general. Considering that we have the world largest economy and (theoretically) have a world class education system and they don't, I wouldn't consider this to be a bragging point.

... you can't prove a conspiracy theory wrong. There just isn't evidence that it is true, therefore it probably isn't.
Can I use this to refute creationism, Domination?

You mean like many of the truthers?

Other than the economy, I think the rest is quite debatable.

http://www.abytheliberal.com/internationalism/are-americans-stupid-statistics-and-research-data

USA scores the lowest in national average IQ among the developed countries of the world, at a national average score of 98. The data is obtained from IQ and Global Equality by Dr. Richard Lynn (professor of Psychology, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland) and Dr. Tatu Vanhanen (University of Tampere, Finland) who have done extensive research on the subject spanning several years. The national average IQ score of Americans at 98 is below 22 countries (including Switzerland, United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, North Korea and China). The low Intelligence Quotient (IQ) score of United States puts the Americans at a lower intelligence level on an average as compared to the other industralised nations.

If you are a non-American who deals with Americans or know people who do, you’d probably have come across the stereotype that Americans are stupid. The general image of Americans around the world is of that of a stupid boor posessed with a loud obnoxious behaviour.

While such stereotypes are not fair to the considerate among Americans, they do have a socio-cultural reason for their origin and existence. And no, it is not because the world hates the American freedom and democracy (if you are an American, making such a silly remark would instantly put you in the ’stupid American’ group). It is the way Americans behave and project themselves around the world that gives birth to these stereotypes. If democracy and freedom were actually triggers of global prejudice, then nationals of France, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark or Singapore would have faced the brunt more often then Americans. Yet this is not the case. All of these countries are highly regarded around the world for their strong democracy with a healthy mix of liberalism and patriotism.

http://chrissandel.com/2008/04/25/stupid-americans-geography/

•63% of young American’s couldn’t identify Iraq on a map of the Middle East
•41% of young American’s can’t even identify what continent the Amazon rainforest is on
•50% were not able to identify New York state on a map of the United States
We may be marginally better than the Middle East in the overall number of "nutjobs", but not by much. And comparing the US to Europe in this regard is apparently patently unfair.

You are claiming that no planes in the WTC?

Google "many truthers claim the same thing".

Google "many truthers claim the same thing".

Okay, we're going to have to go through this step by step.

1. I pull out polls saying that many Middle-Easterners believe either the United States or Israel was responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

2. You suggest that this question might be misleading, and suggest that polls ask "who flew planes into the WTC"

3. I point out that if I'm a conspiracy theorist, I might not believe that anyone flew planes into the twin towers, so your question is invalid as well. Additionally, many people believe that the US/Israel only had foreknowledge of an Al Qaeda attack, but I didn't touch that.

4. Confusion

Nope. No confusion. I understood exactly what you said and responded by claiming that many truthers believe the same thing.

The point you seem to be missing is this: When you ask most people who flew the planes into the WTC, I'm sure they will tell you the Al Qaida did it. But if you ask the same people who is responsible for them doing so, at least some of them will claim it is the fault of US government or even Israeli policy because they provoked the terrorists. I'm sure this is particularly true with Middle Eastern Muslims.

You seem to think an inordinate number of people from that region are "nutjobs". What is your basis for this other than their response to a clearly ambiguous question? Do you have any proof that so many actually believe that the US or the Israelis committed these acts themselves?

What he's trying to say is that some people there might think that planes didn't fly into the towers,. i.e. they might think missiles did, or giant space lasers I don't know.

So phrasing the question that way might not work.

:wallbash:

Joecoolyo has the right of it. And yes, I do believe that a significant minority of Middle-Easterners will say that they believe that 9/11 was some sort of elaborate hoax. You might get people who believe that the US/Israel was "morally responsible", but you'd also get people saying that yes, the Americans did blow up their own towers, or whatever.

It's a psychological thing. While their are probably plenty of people who believe that to the letter (remember, the Protocols of Zion is a best seller over there), even if the person doesn't believe that's literally true, he'll say it is (or say he "doesn't know") as a way of expressing his frustrations. It's the same way you get those ridiculously high numbers of Americans saying that Obama could be a Muslim/Kenyan/Reptilian.

Incidentally, does anyone know what all those polls I linked to actually said? Wikipedia standardized them as saying "responsible", but considering that they were conducted by different groups and asked in different languages, I'd love to see a more exact rendition of what was actually asked.

Me too.

This certainly sounds ambiguous:

A World Public Opinion opinion poll conducted in February 2007 found that 28% of respondents in Egypt believe Al Qaeda were responsible. 9% said the U.S. government were responsible, 29% said Israel and 5% named another country. 29% said they did not know.[26

Then again, look at the percentage of Americans who believe that Hussein was involved and still think so...
