IOT Developmental Thread

No he wasn't, we never gave an assigned amount of soldiers each unit represents, and he was assuming each unit represented an American field army, which meant one unit was larger then 99.99% of armies in real life.

There was no backing to this other then the definition of field army in the American army rankings. Which doesn't make any sense...

Finally ilduces map, you have all the base cities, just paste them where you want (don't have time to paste and check where every city is, you can do that)

Ilduce: His point (I think) was the choice of the word "army" used to describe land units in IOT is unrealistic since it doesn't match the RL definition, and he's right.

But how about we let it rest.

Sea provinces and Africa done. Only Asia and Australia need to be redrawn now.

No Zagreb is above the Bosnian Province (Croatia is the above one), and we did have Dalmatia longer than the croats

Thank you.

@Nedim

That's a very good looking map and all but spoilers! :lol:

@Nedim: you mean :mwaha:?

@Sonereal: it uses the same definition as risk or any other board game...

My god Ilduce, I"m thinking you're missing the point. I have no idea why you're missing the point but go back, read the original post I made, then read the ones you made, and find the error.

I was pointing out that you were complaining about realism on the SoM map because there were more provinces in China than Iran. The irony is now you're saying it uses the same definition as Risk or any other board game which goes to show that you're still but was earlier complaining about the "realism" of an IOT map. :rolleyes:

how is that ironic, in board games an army is never a set definition, it doesn't have to equal 80,000 people like armies do irl.

In civ each infantry unit represents 12,000 soldiers, does that make civ 4 unrealistic?

What I am trying to say is an army is a representation of a group of soldiers, not the definition of a field army in the american army...

The only reason I used risk as my example is because I doubt you have heard of Diplomacy or any of the other really good board games that use armies...
