IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

On the topic of combat if you want to see how I calculate the combat in The Spirit of Man without the complication of my post in the thread here's a link to a download to an example of the combat with the formulas here (In a macro enabled excell Spreadsheet format).

Basically its similar to what Sonereal said but with more variables.

You could do a point system.

Each would be worth one point. Each gets another point added if they can counter a unit in the enemy stack.

For example: Say there's a force of

4 Infantry, 3 Archers, and 3 Artillery

versus

2 Infantry, 5 Archer, and 3 Artillery.

Right off the bat: The battle is 50/50.

However, Infantry beats Artillery. Since StackA has 4 Infantry and the enemy has 3 artillery, StackA gets +3 points. Likewise, StackB has 2 Infantry and StackA has 3 Artillery so that's +2 points for stack B.

Current Tally: 13-12
Final Tally: 10+3+2+3 versus 10+2+4+3

Or

18 versus 19.

That's a little unconventional.

METY is appearing to do it.

What I will be working on for the next year:

Iron and Blood 2 is a collaborative project with kiwitt et al, and is the official sequel to the critically-acclaimed (?) Iron and Blood. Set in the tumultous years of the Industrial Revolution, IB2 features a new hand-drawn map in the IB tradition, and loads of new features and events for IOT players who likes a bit more depth and complexity.

Tiberian Sky: Peace Through Power is the sequel to the critically-ignored Tiberian Sky, an IOT based in the Command and Conquer universe. Fight for your vision of utopia as Tiberium slowly but surely transforms the planet. Expect streamlined gameplay, including a new combat system.

Imperium Offtopicum: Meteor Storm will be a fantasy scenario loosely based on my Civ4 mod Meteor Storm, which was never finished. The world is shaken to the core with the arrival of otherworldly visitors, and one must negotiate the treacherous new order. This IOT will be "story-driven" and will probably be a testing ground for a future NES.

How was a game that a lot of people joined and wanted to play critically ignored? :P

Why did those cockheads at EA have to cancel Tiberium?

Because shovelware RTSes sell so much better than well-designed FPSes with strategy elements.

I'm working on Weapons of Last Resort. The ruleset is essentially complete, and i'm about to have a lot of time open up. I'd like to launch sometime between mid-December and mid-January.

It didn't get close. Christos used mod tags himself. Read the post again.
