IOT vs. NES

This is a horrible thread and you should feel bad.

I was trying to be more objective, I had tried to debate both games to try and improve them. All we got was people being rude. NESers, you say you want more people to play, You spread your links across the forum but all you do apart from that is turn people off with your elitism.
If I ever find someone playing an IOT thinking about playing a NES i will point them to this thread an see what they think of it then.
I have no problem with NESes now, they are not for me and I can accept that, what I do have a problem with is (most if) the people that play it.

:thanx::agree:

Elitism? Sup wif yo hatin' dawg? I heard u be hatin' elitism wif yo own elitism.[1]

[1] Language for your people.

christos200 in no way represents the views of the community as a whole.

Never having NESed before, I won't pass judgement on its comparative merits and flaws.

Yeah, that's really been the largest problem. Most people here didn't have problems with NES until some NESers started coming over here and started saying IOTers "lack mental capacity".

Don't change the ways of NES, learn them. :old:

When you let someone such as him speak for the community and contradict his own words that tends to happen. IOT is a spawn from NESing and everyone knows that. If you ever want to graduate to deeper games, migrate, until then stop the hate.

GR does not represent our forum, and neither do I.

You're gonna get a sampling bias in this thread because most people probably won't care enough to debate the merits of IOT vs. NESing objectively, so you're just going to get the most extreme viewpoints here. Thus, NESers here seem like elitist pricks. Similarly, the impression I'm getting of IOTers from this thread is overwhelmingly negative. :p

In reality most NESes are welcoming of new people, and I'm sure IOT would be the same way.

Of course, I prefer NESes because they're more my style, but that's not a reflection on the merits of IOT, just my personal preferences.

I am an NESer. I think you'll find me pleasant, and not elitist. I enjoyed the IOT I played in as the Portugeuse Empire, but they are different types of games, as some people have pointed out. Luckymoose does not represent the entire NES forums either.

What is this? This is not English. I only know Greek and English.

You liked my IOT. :)

On one hand you have a large group of people who can barely spell, which is apparent by scanning the IOT forum,

Christos in no way shape or form represent the entire IOT community. That's akin to me calling all of NES uncivilized trash-talkers because both you and Zeletdude insult IOTers because they are IOTers. We both know neither is true.

I don't give two if you wanna debate which is better but insulting the members of the community based on one example and just because they are not NESers is both sad and wrong.

To call me a hater of new players and an elitist is hilarious. I'm a cuddly bear compared to some people. I just do not appreciate the kind of hate being spun in this thread, and the obvious reaction is to call you out on everything being said. Just chill out and shut up, almost no one in NES really cares about IOT and we only notice it during times like this, honestly.

I never played on IOT, only NESes. I personally see IOT things as more "gamey" and simplistic, while NESes are, on average, much more advanced and complex.

The NESing community is everything but elitist. We don't even complain about spelling and grammar. Well most of us.

Don't respond to hate with hate, luckymoose. Jackass.

IOT and NES are two seperate but equal institutions.

....maybe not the best choice of words...

Comparing NESing and IOT is comparing apples to oranges.

They're both fruit (community games). But they cannot be directly compared. (Well duh, apple's skin is more edible than an orange's skin. Of course the NESing community is older.)

Here's my challenge: Prove that there is more strategy in the average IOT than in the average NES; with the proof being the average length of war orders seen here: NESing orders
compared to here: IOT

Can a mod lock this? I think it's fairly obvious that this is just has degenerated into a flame war.
