Iron and Blood - Game Thread

NOTE: I think that within 10 turns or so, the technology in this game will be advanced enough in which surprise attacks (blitzkrieg on poland, pearl harbor, low countries, barbarossa) will be viable, and should be considered fair (at least fair enough to allow them by game rules. Let surprise attacks have their own international consequences if people will consider it cheating or such, but soon they will become a part of warfare at a point OTL, and I think that it would be weird if they werent ITTL). At this point, I think Kiwitt should consider alliances to be automatic DPs to unless stated otherwise in order to remove this whole mess of a system.

I dunno, I thought once we got to 1900 we'd have 1 turn per year. Blitzkrieg wasn't even a tactic until the mid 1930's.

'Protect'? Your 'ally' is the one attacking. Using common sense in combination with kiwitt's DoW system, his DoW is invalid anyway.

TK surprise attacks would be a great way not only to slow down the powers that be from industrializing, and therefore outpacing nations already behind, too quickly, and to even up the odds in a war between smaller nations compared to bigger nations. Say, France vs. Britain. France would obviously win in a fair fight. But what if britain could have performed a surprise attack on france the turn before, catching france off guard with no supplies (no supplies would show they arent ready for an attack, dont have fortifications on the beaches, no defenses prepared, etc.) with a pre-emptive strike. This would also encourage nations to either a take a risk with no supplies and do their own thing while maintaining those large armies, or funding those armies with supplies every turn to keep ready for a war, OR even to disband some armies and fund whats left so that you are ready for an attack, but you have less armies to ward one off simply by size.

You'd still have horribly lost...

If California does not stop this aggression by next turn I shall enter the war and I shall call all of my allies who don't care about Hawaii, and in fact would prefer them losing, and the power of the Spaghetti Monster will crush YOU!

If California does not stop this aggression by next turn I shall enter the war and I shall call all of my allies and the power of Allah will crush YOU!

I would prefer you didn't do that, becuse I'm pretty sure that would activate the Defensive Pact of the UNA. And I don't feel like getting into a war against all of Islam. So why not stay out of it?

EDIT: You're right, I couldn't hope to get anything out of this, and going to a mega war for a puny island is stupid so I'm canceling the vassalation, I only wanted a war cause it's getting boring

AA, not only is it rude, but its annoying to change peoples quotes like that.

Also, we are moving to 2 years a turn, not 1. 10 turns=20 years. This universe seems to be a few years advanced in tech and everything, and the equipment needed for blitzkrieg (when this was just an example, surprise attacks dont HAVE to use that tactic) was starting to become available in the early 30's, you subtract 10 years for this timeline, you have 20 turns, or somewhere around that rough estimate.

Im not saying we should put it in right now, but its definitely something to think about.

And AA, you do not know what would have happened should this mechanic have been instituted before then, along with the right tech and tactics to use it properly. Neither do I. IT WAS AN EXAMPLE.

It's also hilarious.

I'm pretty sure 10 years was is a big difference concerning a lot of things. 20's aren't 30's.

"RAWR!"

Can I declare war on Tawanystano, does Siam or Xi'an need help?

You can next turn, but we really don't need any help. Like, at all. Have you seen how many factories Zimbabwe has?

AA the tech and tactics were starting to emerge early 30s in RL. The timeline we are in is about 10 years in the future. So when we get into the 20s, we will be about where people were in RL in the 30s. Maybe even a bit earlier if some nations push their science faster.

I just want some booty ;) Oh btw, Arya, I bet I can get him to leave you alone if you vassalize to me... Just a thought, but bribes work very nicely. I don't want it to lead to war though, I like most of the nations in the Accord.

He makes like 2IC a turn. What's he going to bribe you with, exactly?

Hawaii offers Vassalage to Bosnia and a turn by turn tribute due to the vassalage to be determined by Bosnia, should they agree to help us in our just struggle against California, who is dead set on annexing our lands.

Except that would violate the Treaty of London...

EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't see we had a whole other page already!

...you could have offered this a little earlier you know? Do you know how many nations I have offered this to already?

I formally accept this offer of vassalage, and Hawaii is now a formal vassal of Saorise.

I read the post to indicate that the vassalage was contingent upon the realization of an amicable agreement between California and Saorise regarding the disposition of Hawaii.

Just warning you, this will take effect next turn. Its past the date for any possible declaration of war. Terms of Vassalage: You support me both diplomatically and during any military actions, no actual tribute required.

Now, California, I offer you 30 IC to make peace with Hawaii. It should compensate for the possible benefit received from owning the islands.

Income= 200

(-70 IC) 35 Factories in East Africa (MAXED)

(-10 IC) to the last bit of Ethiopia

(-30 IC) 15 Factories in Cameroon (MAXED)

(-60 IC) 30 Factories in Nigeria (MAXED)

(-30 IC) to California as a peace gesture. If he does not take it, its vassal money. 20 to Hawaii for defense, and 10 to Spain as an economic jump-start.

Hawaii has strategic importance of which I value over 30 IC and they should fall this turn. We will have Hawaii.

Do forgive my slight earlier, it seems I misinterpreted what you said.

As a gesture of good will, I will let you know that that 20 IC will be mine if you send it to Hawaii. I have them fully blockaded and so any support sent goes to the blockader.

Hold on a sec.

Why the heck would the general populace give a damn about a treaty that has already lost all relevance?
