It seems to me that topics are moving much more slowly in OT then years ago when I was more active here. When I joined in late 2005 it was I could refresh a page on OT every minute and there would be several new posts. Now I am lucky to get one bump every 10 minutes.

Is this forum dying? If it is, it must be due to the overall lacklusterness of Civ5 and the natural thinning of the community due to Civ4 and Civ3 growing progressively older.

I don't know if they will ever release a Civ6. If they do maybe this forum will liven up again if they do not repeat the mistakes of Civ5.

Where do you think this forum is heading?

No. An shouldn't this be in site feedback?

If it should be then hopefully a mod can move it rather than delete it. I forgot that sub forum even existed.

Civ5 didn't Help certainly, but I don't this it's that dire. Luckily Rl is giving us interesting topics to debate so it's not the usual abortion/guns/religion debate.

Quite possibly. There hadn't been an "Is Civfanatics dying?" thread for a month or two before now, which is definitely a bad sign.

When was the last time we had a unique discussion topic in OT besides ones relating to news stories?

I made one about paywalls but its awful quiet

There are several on the first couple of pages, depending on how you define unique. In any-case, uniqueness is a pretty horrible way to judge the quality of a forum. In a healthy forum, there's going to be a constant reappearance of old topics, as new members join and old members change their views.

I'm too tired and drunk to discuss this. You sir, are contributing to the decay of OT with topics such as these. Moar stolen pants, more stuff like that encounter you were supposed to have. Those were gold.

No, civfanatics is not dying. But continued success of the site is probably largely dependent on how much staying power Civ5 has. Without an active Civ5 forum, the rest of the site would be more susceptible to dying.

I made a discussion basically lol'ing at people thinking that a prophecy has begun that is setting in motion extreme calamity.

So, you were engaging in onanism, then? Because, um, there was no discussion in that topic except for discussion connected to people thinking that you believed that stuff was real.

I agree.

Xanikk, you need to get your friend to set up another one night stand for you. For the good of CFC.

... And for the record, OT went into a decline when people forgot how to spell "Winner".
