Is it my imagination or have these 'what is love' threads started popping up more frequently with the approach of spring? Are love threads the geeky equivalent of stomping the ground and howling at the moon? Do you feel a strange compulsion to rub the velvet off your antlers?

Dont know what the correct answer to this is, but next week my girlfriend gets back from vacation in Mexico. :groucho:

Or perhaps I already gave an answer. :mischief:

Dunno if love threads is more geeky than the rest of this forum tho :hmm: :p

Yep it's mating season hormones are peaking.

I thought that was a myth, and horomones in humans actually peaked in the fall.

It would make more sense in from an evolutionary perspective, given the length of human gestation. You would want newborns to have the summer and fall to get stronger before they had to face the first winter. That only works for the Northern Hemishpere, though.

It's always mating season. Or at least practicing, mating without reproducing.

Agreed. And since I am situated in Norway, it would seem that that backs it up

I doubt any of us can come up with some convincing conclusion to this. Perhaps/probably not needed either.

Scuffer put it most eloquently though :)

At least in Europe, birth rates peak in spring.

Human females are fertile all year long, so we don't have a "mating season" like animals do.

It'a actually fall over here, however it is hotter then the summer.

And in Rio all year is mating season.

I don't have any scientific evidence to back me up but I have noticed an increase in hornyness in myself and others at this time of year.

It must be mating season because there are frogs everywhere outside......

Personally, my hornyness levels are at normal, but I have a long term girlfriend.

Which would make the peak of conceptions around June, July and August.

Ive had this conversation with friends before. Are we more horny in spring merely because its spring, or because women are walking around with less clothes on than they were a couple of weeks ago?

Most weddings occur at the end of june, thus the many babies in spring.

It's the chicken and the egg thing, Bozo. I associate spring with "smiles" and "sunshine" and "pretty girls", because girls wear less clothes. But then I associate girls wearing less clothes with spring. So I dunno, I guess its both.
