Is there going to be a boxed Collectors Edition?

Anybody state side live near a ebgames or gamestop willing to see if the collectors edition is around?

I really want Babylon, but I also really want the box, with hopefully a nice manual. I hope the CE has one.

Thats what it looks like to me to.

I called EB(gamestop)and of course they haven't heard anything(typical)so I guess all we can do now is wait and hope it's true :(

A hardcover artbook! Damn, and here we are complaining about the size of the manual. That's quite an impressive bundle, though only the truly dedicated will probably be prepared to fork out that much money for it. Congrats to 2K/Firaxis for taking the gamble. I'll be considering it.

I wonder if it's preorder only?

More info is coming soon that will likely answer all your questions. Hang tight.

Post away Brother! Post away! I feel like a little school girl who found out Bobby likes her!!! Err I mean I'm fired up too! Hopefully we find out this info soon!

Watch, it will be like everyone in Australia gets the CE, but states get the Deluxe!! Arghhh

Yeah, I see the giant mech robot too, but it's pretty blurry. Azarael101 could perhaps tell us if he recalls what the miniatures were. I reckon one of them is a samurai, and another one is at least holding a shield but that's about as much as I can tell.

That's definetly a mech! Super secret unit? Lol well not so secret now, if it is.

So it shows the art book, DVD, and cd, and then the regular edition slim box. I don't see my giant manual!!! Damn, looks like it will be a slim one in the Game DVD case.

It's ok, I don't mind printing one on big A4 paper anyway. As long as there's a version of the manual with white background (Firaxis/2K, please don't muck that up!), we'll manage. The manual on pdf that was released for civrev was done very well, though the background was still a bit coloured :nono:.

Think that was bad, go check out 2K forum's new layout. White writing on black screen. Takes me back to the old monochrome monitors of the 1970's. With the same blurred vision and sore eyes. Horrible.

Back on topic. A big manual might just convince me to buy the collectors edition.

Ya me too. Subtract hardcover art book, add hardcover manual w/art.

YES!!! This is what I was waiting for!

I prefer to have a physical copy, but I was disappointed that the deluxe edition was digital only. But with a physical Special Edition, I'm happy :-)

The Picture is a bit blurry, but my best guess on the Figurines.

- GDR! OMG GDR! GIANT DEATH ROBOTS, seriously, this suggests Mech's will be in Vanilla, thats awesome, maybe this time they have done a little more work on the "future" side of the Tech tree. Sounds promising.
- Samuari, the man directly infront of the GDR looks like hes holding a samauri sword, in the "holstered" position, little blurry, hell it could be anything.
-Long Swordsman, top left, obviously a longswordsman.
-Axeman, Top right, the hunched over guy appears to be hold one very heavy axe, though not sure how accurate this predicition is.
-Bottom right appears to be wearing a chinesse hat, as to what he is ... no idea, whatever the chineese UU is, is a good guess.

Yeah sorry I was just surprised they had minis in there especially the big mech one. So I was like must tell the guys on civfanatics now and rushed off. Will report them properly on Sunday when I'm back at work. But otherwise big mech yay!

2K Games announced today the Sid Meier’s Civilization V Special Edition, a robust retail package that contains collectable items and exclusive access to behind-the-scenes content, will be available starting September 24, 2010 alongside the standard retail edition in the UK for £59.99. In development at 2K’s world-renowned Firaxis Games studio, Sid Meier’s Civilization V is the next entry to the original turn-based strategy franchise that reinvents the addictive “just one more turn” formula with a plethora of exciting new additions and enhancements.

In addition to a copy of the highly anticipated game, the following elements are included in the Civilization V Special Edition:

  • 5 metal figurines based on units from Civilization V and manufactured by Reaper Miniatures
  • 2 disc CD soundtrack of game score selections
  • DVD “Behind the Scenes at Firaxis on Civilization V”
  • 176 page hardcover art book

Civilization V takes this definitive strategy game series in new directions with the introduction of hexagon tiles allowing for deeper strategy, more realistic gameplay and stunning organic landscapes for players to explore as they expand their empire. The brand new engine orchestrates a spectacular visual experience that brings players closer to the Civ experience than ever, featuring fully animated leaders interacting with players from a screen-filling diplomatic scene and speaking in their native language for the first time. Wars between empires feel massive as armies dominate the landscape, and combat is more exciting and intense than ever before. The addition of ranged bombardment allows players to fire weapons from behind the front lines, challenging players to develop clever new strategies to guarantee victory on the battlefield. In addition to the new gameplay features debuting in Civilization V, an extensive suite of community, modding and multiplayer elements will also make an appearance.

My opionion of what they look like (same order)
- I agree on the robot
- Its a modern unit as it clearly has an rifle and the part Schuesseled says to be a sword holster looks more of the barrel of the gun to me. Still I can see the samurai also.
- It looks more like maceman with solid handle not the chain type as the weapon has a thick upper part compared to the rest of the weapon. So the weapon looks more like club, hammer or axe.
- Can't really tell but it most likely has some weapon on its hands.
- Might be a samurai, leader or great person.
