Islamic State militants claimed a suicide bombing that killed seven people at an army checkpoint in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Tuesday and triggered retaliatory air strikes by army forces.
In a separate incident in Libya's second-largest city, where army forces are fighting Islamist militants, a rocket hit a residential building, killing a 17-year old girl and another person, medics said.
Three others were wounded. It was unclear who fired the rocket. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the checkpoint suicide bombing in a statement posted on Twitter.

everytime Pentagon has to call on the Redder Telephone so that the Bomber Command can be ordered to call back the bombers in mid-Atlantic they also fume at the US State Department which then calls the Colonial Governor in Ankara who then chews the Goverment which then further issues stuff about leaving r16 alone . Iraqi forces had launched their offensive to retake Tikrit, a strategic crossroads in the heart of Sunni territory in central Iraq, on March 2, boasting that they would subdue the town within a few days, and that they would do so without help from the American-led coalition.

When asked by CBS’ "60 Minutes" why the West questions his legitimacy as president, Assad said the West is used to having “puppets” and “not independent leaders, or officials in any other country.”
Assad said that ISIS, which has conquered vast swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq, has been strengthening despite U.S.-led military action against the terror group.
“Sometimes you could have local benefit but in general if you want to talk in terms of ISIS, actually ISIS has expanded since the beginning of the strikes.”
He added that “some estimate that they have 1,000 recruits every month in Syria,” and that the number of ISIS fighters is also growing in Iraq and Libya.
In the interview, Assad compared ISIS to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, saying the two are one and the same and have similar "ideology." Saudi Arabia and nine other Arab nations launched airstrikes against Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen earlier this week. The Houthi rebels in Yemen, like Assad's government in Damascus, are widely believed to be allied with Iran, Saudi Arabia's great rival in the Middle East.
"It's Wahhabi ideology," said Assad." They use the same books to indoctrinate the people."

and oh yeah , the F-15 tradition goes on unabated with a Saudi example malfunctioning over the Red Sea . And now that he is fighting for his life and that of a couple of million of people , Esad is actually quite right . The fall of Idlip adds another 6 months to the war -at least- and Idlip falls because Iranians relaxed on pressuring the Sunnis due to the talks in Geneva and Saudis decided it was just the right time to take Yemen back , now that they had surrendered it to the Iranians so that they would be not very active in assisting the Syrians . And the jinx goes on , and the Americans lose an F-15 per glorious campaign . You know the one that forced landed in Batman , Turkey due to hydraulics issues did so only because fighting ISIL is a good thing , even if it merely establishes yet another paving stone to the glory of 'stan .

Tikrit: Iraq declared a "magnificent victory" on Wednesday over the Islamic State group in Tikrit, a key step in driving the militants out of their biggest strongholds.
Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid al-Obeidi made the pronouncement, saying security forces have "accomplished their mission" in the monthlong offensive to rid Saddam Hussein's hometown and the broader Salahuddin province of the militant group.
"We have the pleasure, with all our pride, to announce the good news of a magnificent victory," Obeidi said in a video statement. "Here we come to you, Anbar! Here we come to you, Nineveh, and we say it with full resolution, confidence, and persistence," naming other provinces under the sway of the extremists.
Extremists from the Islamic State group seized Tikrit last summer during its advance across northern and western Iraq. The battle for Tikrit is seen as a key step toward eventually driving the militants out of Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city and the provincial capital of Nineveh.
Iraqi forces, including soldiers, police officers, Shiite militias and Sunni tribes, launched a large-scale operation to recapture Tikrit on 2 March. Last week, the United States launched airstrikes on the embattled city at the request of the Iraqi government.
Recapturing Tikrit would be the biggest win so far for Baghdad's Shiite-led government. The city is about 130 kilometers (80 miles) north of Baghdad and lies on the road connecting the capital to Mosul. Retaking it will help Iraqi forces have a major supply link for any future operation against Mosul.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iraqi security forces fired on snipers and searched homes for remaining militants. Soldiers fanned out in circles from the charred skeletal remains of the Salahuddin provincial government complex, captured the day before.
Militant mortar fire, which had been intense over previous days, fell silent on Wednesday, with commanders saying only a few militant snipers remained in the city. They spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing operations.

all related to the Nuclear talks where Barack Hussein claims victory and the Iranians are hardly disturbed and Israelis also love talking tough . While the Media makes hay while the Iranians stall pressure and Sunnis make further gains , hence we also hear new utter defeats of Damascus . El Kaide in Idlip immediately shuns "moderates" as soon as Turkish Foreign Ministry brags of support , off the record but for all to see . ISIL and El Kaide also co-operate in the Yermuk Refugee Camp , now that the "proper" Muslims are now to be protected from too much attention with ISIL being bombed daily or something . No surprises in changes in affiliation in 2015 then . Means the Shia losses in Syria and Yemen are to be balanced with gains in Tikrit in an event that should happened July or August last year , but then this is how greatness is achieved , right ?

another Election . Might mean the end of the New Turkey . Assured by the Americans and stuff that it would be worthy of great leadership and mastery of the world and stuff the Party wants to press to a great victory with extra pressure . The thing is there is this 10% cut-off in Turkish laws , if you poll 9.99% in the elections you don't get any of the MPs you won , the seats go to those who have made it 10% and more . The seperatists are now joining the race as a party instead of independents . If they fail to do 10% , A-K-P can get 400 seats out of 550 , at least achieve decisive majority . If they do , and the surveys are suggesting a possible 12% , there is a chance that the A-K-P can even fail to win the right to make the Goverment . A real on the edge situation ... There's always massive election fraud , but 9.8 to 10.2 is certainly not 12 ... The seperatists can be bought off with autonomy and they will tell their voters not to vote or they can destabilize the country with winning . Now that the New Turkey doesn't like the courts when the smarties are themselves the accused ... It's a terrible mistake to end up in a situation where all can not be treated equally but then this is not 2007 where it was obvious the New Turkey would walk on water and slay the Dragon and invade the Moon . I quite like IS. In a way. They're unapologetic about their tactics, instead of the usual mealy mouthed platitudinous hypocrisy we've become all too familiar with from other sources.
If you're going to go to war at all, you may as well make all your potential enemies respect you for your brutality. Not for me any of this Geneva convention nonsense. War is war and peace is peace. Let's not muddle them up.
