Israel says No to Saddam, Osama dolls

Well I did not know that, and now that I do I think it is wrong. There was a thread a while back about a man in Germany being arrested for teaching his dog a Hitler salute. And I think that man's right to free speech was also violated. Funny how people want to fight repression with repression.

I agree 100% with you andrew.
I was only pointing out that this is not an israeli probelm, it is very common even in western democracies.
In fact, the USA is the only country I can think of right now where you can have a flag with a swastika in your yard if you want to.

One does not have the right to believe that Osama or Sadam are heroes?

In a free society that is one of the prices we must pay, some people may believe that Stalin, or Hitler or Osama are heroes and that is their right, as long as they do not commit a crime themselves.

People who think of them as heroes are people who think their actions were right. Parents who can't teach their children to distinguish between right and wrong shouldn't be allowed to be parents, and the state should do its best to stop them. Free speech doesn't apply when its meaning is the creation of mentaly ill children.

Does Israel have the right to enforce its will on another country's leasure choices?

1. Israel has the right to restrict anything which is being delivered through it.
2. These dolls were imported to Israel.

Humourless - no, fanatical - customs officials. Those ridiculous gimmic mannikens are no more serious or seriously "inciteful" than the plastic wind-up catholic nun who breathes sparks like the godzilla toy. Or the local civic politician dolls with spring-loaded arms and boxer's mitts.

"Inciteful" Who's getting incited? And why?

The same was said about the propoganda signs portraying Rabin as an SS officer. Propoganda CAN cause people to act, and this includes all means of propoganda. Propoganda aimed at causing murders and terrorism shouldn't be allowed.

I don't know about the makers, but among the buyers are often those who want to raise a new generation of shahids.

Nah dont worry the USA is doing a good enough job of that as it is in the middle east.

The US wouldn't have been in the middle east at all had it not been for the terrorists Fanatical Islamic propoganda has raised.

These are an action figure bad-guy and a gross caricature hand-puppet we're talking about. Why not ban whoopie-cushions also, lest we inspire a fresh generation of social offenders?

The fact that propoganda is aimed at kids doesn't make it any better - on the contrary. And these dolls, unlike whoopie cushions, are likely to be used for such propoganda.

:jump: Would you please just look at those items? If you saw a Sharon doll in the same style, you'd know it a mockery in an instant. In fact, I think you'd describe it as positively anti-Sharon. Such a puppet might even get banned in Israel, I now suspect.:crazyeye:

they should not be confiscated. but what can you expect from a country that doesn't let non-Jews vote or be buried there.

I have looked at them. It doesn't change my mind. And a Sharon doll will only be banned if it's though to endanger national security.

I've never heard about such a country.

The shipment, intercepted at the port of Haifa in northern Israel, also contained 450 Teletubby dolls

They should have confiscated these instead.

They have confiscated them. They're though to be counterfeit dolls.

To hell with the likes of G-Man telling me what I can buy, I want one of those dolls. They are freaking hilarious. I cannot get over the exaggerated chubbiness in Saddam's cheeks. My God that is funny.
