this will be my first modification of the original civ 3 game. so its not really that great. all it does is replace the Aztech faction with Isreal. their the same coler (dark green) the changes are: Isreal biulds bowmen, and hoplites, possibly in addition to spearmen. city and great leader names have all been changed. I.e. capitol is Jerusalem. great leaders are: David, Moses. and other key Isrealite charicters. barbarian basic unit is changed to jaguar warrior, elite unit changed to swordsman. galley is still there for them to. all stats have been changed quite heavily. mostly to make them for realistic. i.e. a marine wont have much def than a spearmen. becuase the spearmen is likely to be trained quite heavily in blocking, and weares bronze armor. while the marine probably knows martial arts to some extent, but wears only kevlar or something. however, the marines attack is MUCH higher. becuase the spearman only has a spear. the marine has a machine gun.

so the stats are diferent. also, health has been changed, conscripts, and regulars have 4 health bars each. veterans have 7 health bars. elites have been changed berserkers. and have 10 health bars. i think thats about all that i changed. oh yeah, you can have unlimited units, because i took out support costs.

ok now for teh disapointing part. how do i put a dounload link for it here in this post? someone tell me, and then i'l put it here. hope you can wait.

Will it be real when you get the link in place?
Or is this one of those existential post? How can anyone know what is real anyway?

its real yes, and the link is in place, i posted it above, here i'l post it again.

download it here

Actually, I was teasing you about your spelling.
The correct spelling is, Israel.
See, Isreal, if said fast, could be "it's real".
So, I was teasing about the download link being missing, and about the mis-spelling.
Sorry, just having some fun.

hahahahha, good one. yes, i figured it was spellt wrong. well, i gave you the download link anyway lol. enjoy!

You might want to rethink the idea of having marines with only slightly more defense than hoplites. The figures should be viewed as representing units, not individual soldiers. A Mora of hoplites, a 512 man unit, would typically deploy in 4 ranks with 128 filles, and occupy about 150 yards of frontage. To effectively deploy their weapons, hoplites had to remain in close formation and either standing or kneeling, kneeling normally to repell cavalry. A marine battalion, comparable in size, would occupy a much larger area, say a rectangle of about 1,000 yards by 500 yards with all of its units, which makes them far less vulnerable to firepower. Their weapons can be effectively employed while dug in with overhead cover. To inflict a comparable number of casualties on a unit dug in with overhead cover verses a unit simply standing in place requires a minimum of 100 times the firepower. This is not theoritical, but based on the studies done after WW2 and the testing done during the war. Defense in not simply a matter of what the individual soldier or marine is wearing, but also a combination of dispersion and cover. I have a large library of WW2 studies of weapons effectiveness and tests, and I would rate a marine unit as a minimum of 6 times harder to kill than a group of hoplites, along with a far higher offensive value. A 512 man mora would have an extremely difficult time with a marine platoon of 40 or so men, unless they were able to close to hand to hand combat range. I have been working on correct unit values for C3C for a while now, and still do not have a unified set. The best feel so far is for my mods of the War in the Pacific scenario, but that is in relation to each other, not in relation to ancient warriors. I need to do more work there. Same thing holds true for ships. Values for the more modern units need a drastic upgrade.

yah, now that you mention it, it seems to be a big muff, im working on the sequal which will be much more realistic, i promise. thats why its taking so long, i was thinking about adding bombard attacks to units with ranged weopons, like archers or marines, and make the mellee units a little bit stronger, but still implementing point blank range, but thank you for your critisism, it will help me make the sequal better. thank you! keep me posted if you have other ideas.
