this will be my first modification of the original civ 3 game. so its not really that great. all it does is replace the Aztech faction with Isreal. their the same coler (dark green) the changes are: Isreal biulds bowmen, and hoplites, possibly in addition to spearmen. city and great leader names have all been changed. I.e. capitol is Jerusalem. great leaders are: David, Moses. and other key Isrealite charicters. barbarian basic unit is changed to jaguar warrior, elite unit changed to swordsman. galley is still there for them to. all stats have been changed quite heavily. mostly to make them for realistic. i.e. a marine wont have much def than a spearmen. becuase the spearmen is likely to be trained quite heavily in blocking, and weares bronze armor. while the marine probably knows martial arts to some extent, but wears only kevlar or something. however, the marines attack is MUCH higher. becuase the spearman only has a spear. the marine has a machine gun.

so the stats are diferent. also, health has been changed, conscripts, and regulars have 4 health bars each. veterans have 7 health bars. elites have been changed berserkers. and have 10 health bars. i think thats about all that i changed. oh yeah, you can have unlimited units, because i took out support costs.

ok! heres the link to dowload. and remember, this is only a beta version. theres still alot of bugs in it.

bugs:ancient age specials more powerfull than modern age basics. this is a bug because upgrading units should make them stronger, not weaker. so, this will be fixed in finalversion.

the final version is comeing along nicely. i have the files all modified correctly, and now i just need to create the map. yes, there will be a map for this one. :D. after that i'l just need to test it, then i can release it here. heres some teasers.


changed the name to 'ancientlands'
stats have been fixed.
2 new factions, Kushites, Israilites; i didnt replace any of the former factions this time, so no funky hair doos for king david.
i did however take out some of the older factions, all that remains are factions that existed at say, about 750-500 bc. cept rome, hes still in there.
deleted all traces of maderness. yes, i did, how cruel of me. :). all that remain in civ advances and unit types are those units and advances that are in the ancient age. cept for monotheism, which i converted to ancient age. added a new citezen type. unlocks with monothiesm. 'prophet' most of the ancient factions had thier gods and all, so i figured this was fitting. bonuses are as follows: 1 bonus to tax. 2 bonus to science. 3 bonus to luxuries.
added a new government type: theocracy. for those of you who dont know, a theocracy is where you have no mortal ruler, its where a god rules you through a prophet, or priest. as isrial had before becoming a monarchy. im not sure but this might also relate to vatican city.

made barbs stronger, you no longer have a 100-400 point advantage over them, for chieften, it used to be 700, now its 200. decreasing by 50 every next dificulty lvl. after 100, it goes down by 25's. untill, at diety, its 0. so, no more easily killed barbs. made jaguar warriors among the top fighters. with 3-3-1. as oposed to the regular warrios 1-1-1. you'l have to take a look at the units, becuase alot of them haev changed stances.

thinkign about adding knew unit types. if someone will tell me how before iget ready to release it. i have the zip files, but wondering how i could get them in my mod.

theres alot more. to much to remember actually. mainly just random fidgeting with the sliders on editor. but it will be great, so keep your fingers crossed.


i suppose your wondering y i didnt just do all this in the first version. its becuase when i made the first version, i only had original game. no ive got version 1.29, which mainly upgrades the editor. so anyway, hope you can wait.
 
one last update before i finish once and for all. it may take a couple of days for me to finish it. i had it finished map and all, but for some reason, version 1.29 wont run on my computer. so i'l be fighitng with that for the next few days. it wouldent eb importent, but this map relyes very heavily on the add, delte buttons, that the original editor didnt provide. so, it'l be awhile. a week maybe more. but i'l get it to work somehow.
 
If this is a Scenario, why is it in the map section? :)

And there are lots of tutorials on how to add new things to the game! :D
 
its in here i guess because it said user. and i'm lazy-ish, to find a user scenarios. another reason could be because the second version will have a map to it.
 
Scenarios are generally map based games, and mods are full modifications with, usually, no maps. The Map section is for maps only with no rule changes. :)
