Italian civilization for Varietas Delectat

Thanks! I missed your Dardo skin; I'll check it! :)
I have chosen a symbol as generic as possible; I have already said that the green-white-red flag is relative only to the last two centuries; the "Italia turrita" (I think the exact translation in english is: "castled Italy") is a personification of the whole civilization and it comes from the XI century (the Italian Communes age, the first rebirth of italian civilization..); however any suggestion is appreciated ;)

Indeed, the first italian tricolour flag is been made in 1796. 2 centuries are a short time, respect the history of our country  my doubt is for the colors used...and if use purple and yellow colors?
however is a fantastic mod :)

Time to come back to the UB. As mentioned I've done a search for useful stuff. So here's a list:
- http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=12038
- http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=7454
- http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=10603

Or if you may think on taking a totally different UB:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=7885

If you decide to keep your current UB, one of the houses from the list above might serve as a base. I could add something or I could remove something else that is already part of the building. For example, I could take the round market from Walter Hawkwoods human collection and add ome sculptures or paintings or as you said, da Vincis plane. I saw some paintings on google warehouse that should be incredibly easy to add. You might do another search for sculptures for example. If they are well known, your chances are good to find a model there. And of course, I could reuse something from other nifs. So take a look at the houses and tell me what you want. We could also wait a little bit more (I can't start working on this immedeatly anyways) to see whether someone takes your request.

Lastly, I've uploaded my corrected version of the german texts of your mod, see attachment.

I've chosen the "Savoy blue" because it's more representative than other colors: even if Savoy became important for italian history since short time (XVII-XVIII century), they already ruled in north-west Italy since the XI century..

However, I've done a second version of the flag; hope you like it:

Turrita_Flag_II.jpg btn_italyII.jpg
I don't know how to apply the shadows (of the flag's fold) to the button, anyway it's more satisfying for me now. :)

- use the jar and keep your audio defs where they are, remove all default audio defs from their xmls, avain would have to provide a set of default audio xmls from civ4 so that the jar can merge

Varietas delectat audio xmls already contain the civ4 audio defs and they are in the non-modular part of the mod. I've edited Italy_AudioDefines.xml, Italy_Audio2DScripts.xml (diplo music) and Italy_Audio3DScripts.xml (unit sounds): they contain only italian sounds defs now and they are within my mod. I copied the .jar from your Huns mod in the folder [..]\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Varietas Delectat\Assets\Modules\ and I launch it; this is what I see:

Spoiler :
attachment.php

You can see that the .jar detects my files and, below, the VD files; but, at the bottom, there is a message error.. I can't understand why... :badcomp:

When I load the game I can't hear neither the diplo music nor the units sounds..

Wow, a lot of stuff! The buildings that match what I have in mind are:
the one of the first link (id=7201, the "Gnome Workshop" made by woodelf);
and one of the buildings of the second link (id=12038; the "Wood Resouce" made by Walter Hawkwood - I mean the one in the upper row in the picture).

I found many sculptures and paintings in Google Warehouse; these are only examples but an excellent starting base, in my opinion:

I found also the Leonardo's flying machine! :D

Lastly, I've uploaded my corrected version of the german texts of your mod, see attachment.

Thank you!! :goodjob: I'm curious to see my errors.. Ich muß mein Deutsch verbessern! :)

PS:

A circus tent? :dubious: :)

The building is meant to be a carneval. I think that I've already seen an Italy civ using the carneval as UB... But your UB is better in any case.

The statues seem to be pretty high poly. If the are, maybe I could take a 2d picture of it and then make anything transparent, except of the statue of course. Finally I could map that on a face. I've already done things like that and it looked okay. I suppose that depends on how large the statue is. I'll see.

The attachment in your last post didn't work for me. If I follow the link, it says that the attachment is invalid. Maybe you have deleted the file after you posted the link? Anyways. Are there italian entries in the audio artdefines of the non-modular part of the mod? If yes, merging has at least partially worked. If not, maybe WoC is needed to use the .jar. Well, I'd need to see the error messages.

Ops.. sorry; I have edited my previous post; now you can see the image in the spoiler. Anyway, all about my ita civ is in [..]\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Varietas Delectat\Assets\Modules\Italy\; If I'm not wrong, this means that all my xml is modular..

About the statues: there are several version of them, I don't know what is more useful for you.. if you search in Google Warehouse "david michelangelo" you will see other three version of the statue in the link #1.. if you search "monna lisa" you will see several version of the painting in link #3; there is also a version with an easel and a a palette, maybe more appropriate:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=660f1df3eae217721cecac7e8a8b1c11&prevstart=12

PS: woohoo! Varietas Delectat 9! I must test my civ with it!

Okay, I'll see what I can do with your UB.

Unfortunately the error message doesn't mention too much details... I'll take a look at this at the weekend and give it a go myself. Could be, that WoC is needed for this .jar as well, although I would expect different problems than this one.

Hi,

the only problem is that I removed/renamed the ART_DEF_UNIT_CARTHAGE_WAR_ELEPHANT.
Sorry.

But you need to correct only this!

Cheers,
avain

It's better than older flag :) If you want apply the flag's fold, i think you can use a simple burn effect, using one of natural brush! ;) Unfortunately ,i don't never learn to created a flag :(

yep, although she isn't "turrita" in the picture :)
Great work 10lire, finally a worthy Italian civ :goodjob:

Alright, I set up an artworkshop. Actually two different versions. The first one is using the wood ressource of the human cityset as you requested. I think using the stone ressource looked much better, but I leave the decision to you.

I've added two pictures and two statues. The statues are actually only 2d. During the game, the still look okay. Only in the civilopedia, it looks odd because of the unlucky angle when the camera rotates. You might tweak this by moving the statue so that it is covered by the main building once the angle becomes worse. Thinking on the stone ressource version, this would mean you would have to switch the positions of the larger statue and the men picture by da Vinci. You could do this via nifskope or sceneviewer by your own. Finally, you could improve on the size of the things I've added, also via nifskope or sceneviewer. And of cource, you won't need all textures, but which you'll have to keep, depends on the version you'll use. If the main building would be a bit different in colour (something whitish / bright blue-greenish), it would be quite okay, I think.

EDIT: The relevant xml entries:
<fScale>21.75</fScale>
<fInterfaceScale>0.4</fInterfaceScale>
I'm using a 3x3 leaf, but 2x2 might be okay as well.

Well, thanks, but it's nothing special actually. The main building is a conversion someone made (I think Walter Hawkwood - you should find that out, 10lire, if you add this picture, to give him credits) where only a flag got removed and hole closed. the goodies around are simply some transparent pictures and some simple modells...

Sorry for my late answer, I am very busy in these days! As usual, great work: I like the stone ressource version, but I think I will use the wood ressource version, because it fits better the (roman) citystyle (see picture below).
I will try to move the statues to hide the fact that they are 2D, but I don't know if I will have success (no skills about this stuff! :p). About the size, I think I will reduce the scale of the whole building, because the windows are larger than the windows of other houses (again, see picture below).
And, also, I will try to make a button..

PS: I have no idea about what is a 3x3 or a 2x2 leaf! :D
