That Amarok actually looks pretty neat, is it only for Linux?

BTW, I am also considering putting Linux on my new HD, but I don't know how often I will use it...
If you do decide to go with linux then I would suggest useing ubuntu. Their is a link in my sig for it.
I love LINUX!!!
I just cant find an MP3 codec for it.
PS
Padma, if you have an MP3 codec for linux could you PM me where to get it? Please?

Now i prefer Media player but am drawn to using itunes now since i have an ipod, i find Media Player better. This is however which one you predominantly use and if your a smart arse that uses something else, well then good for you but which one out of those 2 do you use :)

I use iTunes usually, because I find it more convenient to coordinate with my iPod video.

iTunes is the only apple product I use, and that's one too many, but I just like it so much. [/shame]

I use Itunes primarilly, and WinAmp on ocasion. I have all of them instaled, just incase I need to use one for some odd particular reasno that can't be played on the others.

I just find the system it uses is simpler to navigate than iTunes, which has all the artists in one big long list.

And I know you could say use the search function but I hate that. I also find most albums by artist but some I can't remember the artist (like OST's) I use the album name. And if there is something I have forgotten the name of it is eaier to browse a small list, rather than one of every single song I have.

However, you are entitled to your own opinion.

This is mine.

EDIT: Sorry, although it may have seemed it, I didn't mean that harshly :).

I find iTunes easier, I just toggle on "browse", then I can see a list of all my artists and albums, that's easy enough for me.

And no, it didn't seem like you meant that harshly :).

I use ubuntu. I use juk (amorak is awesome but was unstable because I'm using an unstable version of Ubuntu (Dapper)).

mp3 and all types of media are available for Ubuntu. There's a start guide that works for Ubuntu Hoary 5.04. It should work for Ubuntu Breezy Badger 5.10 as well. You just need to add the multiverse to your respository and you can download thousands of new software easily. If you have questions, you can pm me.

Padma uses Mandriva so if you use that, he'd be the person to ask for questions related to that.

On Topic: On Windows I use Yahoo! Music Engine because I got 6 months free of their music service. However, I have all the players on my computer and would generally use WinAmp. It's library system makes the most sense to me. Maintaining a library and playlists are easiest with it. Not to mention internet radio.

Media Player, I only use iTunes to put music on my iPod

I use a skinned winamp.

iTunes works a lot better than WMP. I only use WMP to let people know what's playing while I use Messenger. Otherwise, it works too damn slow anytime I wish to sort my music by artist, lenght or date, it freaking freezes. I have the same amount of songs in iTunes (around 6000)and I never have any problem with it. That alone is enough to make me chose iTunes.

I have a similar level of angst about my use of iTunes. I really wanted just to use a non-Apple product, but the quality of the online database for referencing music when ripping from CD is just much better than WMP. This is particularly obvious with classical stuff, but is also there frequently with compilation albums - eg the Trigger Happy TV 2 soundtrack.

I use a very lightweight player called Billy. I've learned all its keybord shortcuts by heart and now I am a slave to it. I hardly can imagine living without it ;).

I've used Winamp, iTunes, WMP and few others before but since finding Billy I never looked back.

Just exaggerating.

Ha... I thought that may have been the case... but you never know!

I wish it did work though, and created some kind of masterpiece! :D.

Have you got a link for that? :).

Windows Media Player. My bro has iTunes installed on my comp, and it disgusts me. I HATE the fade-in-fade-out crap on songs. Plus, Media Player has that awesome toolbar, and the psychadelic visualizer, :scan:

Now, you obviously have set your mind to hating iTunes, fair enough, but just to make sure, you can shut off the fading, iTunes too has a psychadelic visualizer and an awesome toolbar.

Using iTunes and loving it, same goes for the iPod.:) The only thing I missed in iTunes that WMP has is the little label that pops up above the miniplayer-toolbar every time the song changes to say which artist, album and title it is. This was easily programmable though.
