Why do you think we settled where we did? Scenery? We want profits!
From: Minoa

You won't have any profits if we don't send any ships to trade with you...

Thanks!

You need to pick those 500 troops and add them to your army... :p

You mean you couldn't do that yourself? :p

When do you need orders?

Well, I didn't know if you wanted 500 chariots or 500 of something else... :p

Orders due Wednesday 6 PM east coast time.

Spot poll: should updates be 25, 50, or 100 years?

He has 2000 chariots?

And again 500 chariots = 1000 men. and you said no chariots.
Anyway he should have 1500 chariots anyway.

I said no horses without approval. This would be the area that horses are used in, right? Since they came from barbarians invading from the east--exactly where Iggy is? If I'm wrong about that, find a source and I'll fix it.

And people have been treating 1 archer as equal to 1 spearmen all along, when that's not true. I did that to provide some diversity of forces at the beginning. Note that an all-chariot army, like an all-archer army, probably isn't the best idea.

I don't mind about him having Horsmen, not chariots. Egypt had Chariots (and Sumer had them first).

But 2000? He has as many hoses as I have men? if I have 2000 men he should have 1000 horses for the 500 horses= 1000 men.

He can have horses... but equal to the 1 horse=2 men.

Egypt won't have chariots until they invade or are invaded by someone with horses, and copy the technology. Wait an update or two.

You're probably right about the horsemen. That makes more sense then chariots...

Since you insist, I'll enforce the rule and lower the number of men. BUT, since I didn't do that with archers, the 500 bonus troops will stay as 500, not 250. So he'll have 1500 horsemen. Happy?

Why should 1000 archers not be equal to 1000 spearmen?

With a horse you got both a man and a horse to handle, in infantry and archers only the man...

I don't know. It made sense at the time...

Fine. Archers can now be trained at the same rate as spearmen.

1000 spearmen
1000 axemen
1000 archers
500 horsmen
500 (or 300) chariots
10 catapults (ones available)

anything else?

lurker's comment: Having dabbled at both and studied military history, archery is a much more difficult task than skewering a person on a spear. I say archers should have less for the same amount of money (say, 500). Likewise, traditionally, horsemen cost considerably more than infantry, not just 2x as much, I'd say they should be at 250-300 per point, at most. Chariots have, at minimum, 2 horses, a wooden construction, and several trained men, and should be, at maximum, 100 per eco point.

You forget Spearmen were a miliatry unit with honor that was trained from the best soldeirs. While archers were just plain peasents who were taken into battle... no training no nothing... less cost on archers from this angle..

@Erez: looking at past NESes, archers have been either 500 or 1000. I've decided on 500.

Okay, fine. I'll change the military for the last time.

The new list:
1 spending point=1000 Spearmen=1000 Axemen=500 Archers=250 Horsemen=200 Horse Archers=100 Chariots=10 Galleys.

In your orders, please redo your starting troops. You have the equivalent of 2 spending points to spend on starting troops, plus another .5 if you don't start with a navy. Feel free to use fractions of eco points on military, but you must do the calculations yourself.

EEK. thats bad :p

you should just do foot soldeirs as 500, horsmen 200, machines 10
