JFC1: Spacecakes

Hi guys. I am away from Civ til about next weekend, sorry.

Couldn't play a full 10 this round since I was pressed for time but anyway....

You say Domination? I say that sounds like fun and begin looking for a target to meet our land goal. Spaine? Too small and too far away. Portugal? Same deal but with top notch navy. Russia? General Winter is a b***h. Greece? Vassal of Turkey but they are on the road to Persia.... which would connect our empire to the Indies. Which sounds like a deal...

I take down Rome and Pompeii while staging the invasion of Greece, but whats this? Germany pays us a visit flipping Berlin. This puts a kink in operations and I'm forced to backtrack for a couple turns. However we were thrown a bone and a Greek city flipped as well. I took down both and don't even have to make a declaration.... Thanks!

With all the new found revolt our stability is falling fast. The Cristo Redentor is put to use switching over to the Occupation civic. With that taken care of I give Alexander one last chance for peace, demanding he hand over Advanced Flight. He refuses and I wasn't at all too thrilled... war is declared and we capture Byzantion.

From there we stage our next prong of conquest.... splitting the stacks to take down Athens and Sparta to the south while the bulk of our army heads east into Anatolia. The air force slowly begins upgrading and is rallied around the Mediterranean, and our navy moves in to bombard Athens. Carthage actually helped by sacrificing a transport full of Infantry against Sogut.

Athens and Sogut were the next victims of the East India Trading Conquest and we move back to Stable. As for losses ... the only thing so far has been a few planes and two battleships. Greece collapsed eliminating airforce trouble, and Turkey has lost almost all of its navy. Without Sogut I doubt we'll be seeing any more naval battles.

In the science department we've learned Fission, Advanced Flight, and we're two turns off Composites. On the other side of the fence someone stole medicine from us, and people are starting to give into extortion tactics. While I've not managed to get any techs... Ragnar paid us 800 gold after he demanded some tech and I refused, and America is paying us a 15gpt tribute for pestering me about Robotics. There! Take that!

The popular science published a journal on the Portugese who have been building Space Casings like mad. We've built one thruster, the docking bay, and have 4 more thrusters in production. Thanks to a GA from the Olympic Park (in Omaha) the space elevator is due in about 10.

As for production I've built mostly military and wealth. We've got a nice stack of guide missiles, one cruiser full, and a couple more cruisers in production. I Think that pretty much sums it up....

Do you want it, Sweetacshon?

I'm gonna be going home Friday until around New Years so if we're gonna play we probably need to get it rolling.

I'm not sure I'll get it before then. Let's call it up for grabs. I'll probably play a turnset by the end of this weekend and may finish it, unless it gets finished before then (which would be fine with me.)

Snow day got it.

1976 - Casually check diplo and

Ha ha. Enter.

1977 - Inherited UN Peacekeeping fails. Lagash falls and

Sign OB and trade him Coal for some stuff, bringing him up to Cautious. Also, I don't want him to collapse. That brings us, with some cities still in revolt, to 21.79% out of 25% land for Domination. We already have 33.28% out of 30% for population. I'm not sure if I want to win Domination, but I would like to get close to the 25%, for fun. Domination is an achievement in RFC, although lately the reduced land requirement has made it easier (that is, possible). We're still at war with Persia, who has a lot of land. That would supply some sweet sun-never-sets shizzle, since we have the Khmer as well.

1978 - Composites -> Fiber Optics. Take out Persia's one, undefended Oil (a couple Fighters are shot down, but then two Gunships get the well and then the railroad.) Move troops, start Casings.

1979 - Mongolia joins in on Persia. Capture independent Sparta, which has the Church of the Nativity. Capture Shush, which is my least favorite city on the map (maybe second least, after Ur). One tile off the coast, steals the Wheat that Ninua needs, etc, etc. But sometimes we must all make sacrifices, and I keep it. I'll raze it in another game. For fun, make a Great General Modern Armor in Nieuw Holland and airlift him to Shush.

1980 - Capture Rasht. Junk, no food, but keep it and choose option to return control to Turkey. Suleiman had done part of the work of capturing it, anyway.

1981 - Space Elevator. The Golden Age Of Kicking Turkey's Butt is about to run out, so I use our Scientist and Prophet to start the Golden Age Of Kicking Persia's Butt.

1982 - Fiber Optics -> Fusion. All Casings and Thrusters done. Chicago flips, 100% surrounded by American culture. Disbanded. Capture Parsa and

Wait, weren't we supposed to win by... Wait, what?

:smoke:

Ahhhh yea... from that tiny little nick of nothing to domination . I'll :smoke: to that. We'll have to do it again sometime. Enjoy the holidays.

 Nice one. It's a pity I couldn't help out much:
  • I've been on holidays
  • Playing after about 1800 was just too painful :badcomp:
I'd certainly be up for more, but that means either going for UHVs or early wins, or just sitting out the endgame.
