JNES.N2: The World, Again

Update 2, 1400b.c.e.

World Events

The Nation of Gallaray, intent on unifying all Gallaryians under one banner, declares war upon the Somalians. Mustering up an army of large proportions, The Itege orders for the complete destruction of the Somalia. Small armies, led by important tribal chiefs, march into Somalia to prove to the Itege that they are superior to the others. The result is the first war of the world. For the most part, the attacks are unsuccessful. Not unified, the small bands of Gallaryians are repulsed by the army of unified Somalia. The borders are not changed.

Gaian merchants are soon a common sight throughout the Black Sea and even into the eastern Mediterranean. Given tax breaks and even funds for further voyages, the Gaian populace is quickly becoming more commercial. The most heavily traded routes in the world are the routes between Gaia, Greece, and Scythia, and the harsh Black Sea is soon tamed, the Gaians are able to record what times are the best times to sail, and which are not.

A Gaian merchant ship arrives at Troy

One day, a man named Fresco was walking along a beautiful river in the northern parts of Insayah. The sun was out and bright for such a day, as snow was expected by the village Shaman. Minding his own business a glow catches his eye. Looking over, he finds the first gold in North America. Fascinated with such a metal, he took it to his village. The chief then took it to the Tribal Chief for approval upon an excavating team in the river and the mountain side near it.

Ryukyusian sailors, who are adept in exploration and trading, venture south along the coast of the Chu until they are in unknown waters. It is within a week that they meet the De Viets, a powerful people who a sported navy and highly valued goods to Japan. Trade is set up immediately, and Ryukyu begins to buy the precious silks and spices from this empire in the south.

Parts of the Empire of Majahpit begin to feel isolated from the rest of the nation, especially the central government on Java. Without an effective navy, such an overseas empire is hard to keep connected, up-to-date, and unified. Meanwhile, Borobudur Temple has gone under construction at the capital, bringing festivals and spectators who wish to see the beginnings of such a massive temple.

Holding the world’s first elections, and the world’s first republic, the Icelandic Parliament is a version of the Althing practiced by the supporters of the republic in the barren eastlands. Soon, both sides are united, and the modern Icelandic nation is born. To take advantage of such a situation, ships have been sent south and east to try their luck to find something in the endless sea. What they did find were more people, with their own governments. No longer did the Icelanders think they were alone. Contacts with the Picts and Scandinavians are achieved.

The first teacher is hired in Moscow, Roddynia, where a temple was built to the patron god and also serves as the first school in the world. The rich who are able to afford for their sons to become scribes are sent here to learn the writing of the Roddynians, the teacher never has more then three students at a time.

Persia arises around the city of Susa in the southern Asia. From here, the Persian armies conquer large, mostly uninhabited stretches of lands to the north and east, but are stopped by the Babylonians in the west. The Assyrians and Mittani also rise around Mesopotamia along with Babylon, so to create a system of powers in the region.

Goths rise in the Balkans, as does Aremburg in Western Europe. The Zulu (right) and the Xhosa (left) rise in South Africa.

OOC: Um, will you update the histories next time? I understand you're tired, but next time you probably won't be.

Sorry, just a short story.

IC:

Legends say that the Great Spirit turned away from the world, and nothing happened for many years. But eventually he returned, and so it was that the world got back on track. A new Itege ruled by then, and many tribal chieftains attacked Somalians, and were repulsed.

The new Itege decided that the Spirits must be appeased by mass human sacrifice, and to personally command the attacks. The Galla army was large, and Somalians would not have a chance.

Orders:
- Sacrifice someone, especially annoying old geezers and insurance salesmen (if we don't have any, create some). If it works for Aztecs,
- Grow economy.
- Attack the Somalians with all army under the Itege. Overwhelm them with our overwhelmingly large army.

To Sicily

We ask that unify with our nation to make a Greater Roman Empire and ensue that our peoples do not fall to the might of our evil neighbours.

To Our northern neighbour

The Long Night was over, and a new day had begun. Two new nations, Iceland and Aremberg, had been discovered, both of which might make valuable trading partners. Meanwhile, Scandinavian iron continued to be sold to both the Vikings and the Picts. Scandinavia, however, had spent most of its money on building up the military. It was decided that the Scandinavians would rest from their other activities and build up their wealth.

However, the newly-expanded military was serving a purpose other than wasting money. It was also deterring the warlike Vikings from making any raids to steal iron shipments rather than pay for them. The Scandinavians continued to be watchful concerning their neighbors and distant kin, however.

The Picts, on the other hand, were very receptive. They knew the meaning of a fair deal (though Pict merchants would often try to swindle Scandinavian ones and vice-versa, for such is a merchant's trade). They also held massive supplies of tin, which were almost as valuable as iron, but not quite as sturdy. The trade with the Picts, therefore, went two ways: they got iron for their weapons, and the Scandinavians got tin with which they could make bronze implements.

Iceland was a bit of a mystery. It was known that the island was cold and had few resources other than its rich farmland. However, the people of the island were quite stalwart and resourceful, doing their best in a land starved for metals. They also had a spirit of individualism, as their governing body, the Althing, showed.
