Does the War Elephant rewuire resourses? If so we need to pillage them.
No resources needed. They fall over with a very satisfying thud, though. They're only knights with a weight problem.

I think you also asked earlier which of our units can settle cities. All but the Ordu Archer can retire as Steppe Setters when we reach Theory of Gravity. Ordu Archers upgrade to Cavalry, probably before that, and I suggest we need to start considering this. We are only three techs away from Mil Tradition, so I recommend we increase our ratio of Ordu builds now, as we have a lot of cash available to buy the techs and upgrade them. We can then continue to use the bombard units alongside cavalry - they are uniquely capable of keeping up and so they'll remain useful into the IA for weakening rifle defences.

Sorry for the delay.

I've only gotten thru 4 turns, but RAJA have only 1 city left. Oh yeah, I've upgraded our galleys to Carvels. Now able to move further and carry an extra unit.

I'm going to try to squeeze in a few more turns tonight. But I've got a hurricane projected to pass right over the top of me Friday, so I'll post whatever I get thru in the morning.

Quick summary: I ended 1 war and started 2 more. 3 if you count Barb Island.

IBT - Incense deal with RUS expire they want Dyes, Furs & 1175gold to renew - since that’s only 4 turns worth of gold I renew it - besides I'm close to declaring war on the Khwarizmian

Turn6 - 810AD
Khwarizmia does not seem to understand the Mongol way. After refusing to give us his entire treasury of 61gold I present him with a gift, the head of his oldest son, and I inform him that his 2 daughters are being sent back to the Mongol homeland for breeding. Oh yeah and I declare war.

Turn7 - 820AD
capture Antioch (KHW)

Send emissary to visit neocarthage to discuss why they are such a backward's people ( we are up 4 techs including gunpowder). Our emissary is discovered sneaking out of Queen Hannabaline's bedroom and "accidently" kills the Prince. Since blood was shed through no fault of the Mongol people our emisary thanks the Queen for her hospitality and he declares war on her in order to protect the honorable name of the Mongol people. (Land a force of 15 Mongols with 2 carvels due in next turn)

IBT - It may soon be time to go visit Tokugawa and ask his daughter for a massage in retribution for the nerve of their people to cause Mishima depose to them. Mongol blood pressure is rising.

Jaipur riots - still has a resistor
Dashogu riots - starve it
Leptis Magna ends resistance and riots - starve it
Jodhpur riots ends resistance - hire tax man - need to rush temple next turn
Fuji is upset about our "cruel oppression"? Is this a form of WW? Hires tax man
Sikar ends resistance and riots - hire clown

autoraze Oea (CART)
capture Otrar (KHW) & Gurganj (KHW capital)

Notes for next player
1) Have 9 caravels west of Sikar waiting to transport troops as soon as the KHW campaign is finished
2) KHW are down to 3 cities / CART have 9 cities left
3) We need to load up 2 carvels with some units and send them to the two TOK islands and put them out of the game. We had a city flip to them even though we have been at peace for a while.
4) Let the barbs attack our stack and then just bombard them. I have a settler & more units headed to the boats for transport to barb island.

The 850AD save

Well done Gator.

Fuji is upset about our "cruel oppression"? Is this a form of WW?
Someone has pop rushed something there recently. You get an unhappy citizen for each rushed citizen, I think, and in recently captured cities that may have been down to the previous owner - typically pop rushing defenders when you were about to attack. It wears off over about 20 turns I believe.

Okay, Got It

Three-front war, plus a couple of tidy-ups, should keep me adequately busy. :ninja:

Highly amusing that we now have the tech lead, other than some irrelevant form of government that Russia is tinkering with. I see it's also very hard to see a difference between the other civs on F8, we're so dominant!

Question: I see a few cities on the Western half of the ex-Raja island have Temples. (e.g., Udaipur, Bundi). Assume these were rushed, and that we're rushing temples as convenient & affordable, to fill in border space?

Glad I've got a couple of days to play this one!

Cheers,

I started building temples in all captured cities, mainly for the cultural expansion and so some one else doen't try to grab the land. That way we can keep a minimal force on patrol on each of the island continents as we take control of it. We can then move in mass our attack squad to the next victim.

The 9 caravels off former RAJA land are primed and wait to go after the red or was it orange civ to the west.

EDIT: I think Mapstat indicated we need to almost double our current size, that is why I landed some muskets on Barb Island so we can start settling there. We need to have enogh settlers ready to grab the whole landmass.

At this point I think we can simply overrun and out produce all the other civs.

I was also only producing units from our homeland. We need temples for culture and marketplace for happy rich people in all the other lands.

I figure we've reached 80% of world vicibility now, so I've used JMapstat. It says the domination limit is 2564, and we need 1372 to get there. So we have 1192.
At the end of Mistfit's turnset we had 954, so Gator won 248 - good going. At this same rate it would take 55 turns to reach domination. We may be able to speed up as we get into the swing of it and Cavalry come on line. I don't think we can assume we'll all get two more cracks at this game unless we slow the pace to 5 turns each.

There are 750 unclaimed tiles, a lot of which we can grab very quickly with our retiring Steppe Settlers. That gets us half what we need. Our current enemies - Carthage has 170, Toku and Kwariszmia have about 70 each. Russia is easy to get to and has 300, so we just need one more reasonable size civ to complete the set. Geographical candidates once we've taken Carthage are Arabia, Ottomans or Minoans. If we can get to the Ottomans fast we can take them out before they reach Military Tradition - they don't even have Engineering yet. If thyey reach Mil Trad they get 8.3.3 Balkan Dragoons aka Sipahi, which would not be fun to meet on the battle field.

We currently only have 7 Ordu Archers and 12 Gospodar to upgrade to Cavalry. I suggest we build a lot more Ordu Archers soon. 50 cavalry would make this a very fast end game.

[EDIT] Sorry. I see we have a caravel fleet ready to sail for the Viking lands, so maybe that's our other target rather than Ottomans Minoans, Arabia.

lurker's comment:
You guys are going for dom? I thought it was a no research space type thing. Or was that just us? :hmm:

We're playing with the research slider nailed firmly to the left hand end, doing no research, but I wasn't aware of any obligation to launch a spaceship  We did briefly discuss that as a possible victory option early on, but we decided the Mongols destiny is military domination or conquest. If we are required to reach for the stars we'll do so, but where is it written?

[EDIT] Here .. I've extracted the variant rule from our first post:

Karasu said:
Variant Rule: No research - science slider 0% from the beginning to the end of the game, no scientists ever.

It sounds like it's your month for harsh re-interpretations of variant rules, Sesnofwthr :mischief:

Playing, but a bit slowly.

@AlanH: I'm a bit confused about the tile info. Using CRpMapStat, I show that we need 1372 (of visible tiles only, and there are chunks of land not visible yet) for dom. It also shows 1366 unclaimed. Could this be a difference of whether the programs count coastal tiles?

In any case, onward with our steamroller. I don't know if the other civs will last until Military Tradition or not!

Cheers,
nikof
