Honestly, pretty much all of the map scripts except for Pangaea and Continents are pretty bad right now. And Continents isn't great, just OK. They did a lot of work on Pangaea in the last patch, and it's great, but the rest... Well, I guess the TSL ones are OK since they are what they are, but meh.
I like Fractal a lot, it's how I play almost all my games. Very interesting land formations with plenty of variety.

Fractal maps used to be pretty good, but lately they're just terrible. Something is broken in the Fractal script.

I wish you'd get a free Dark Age policy slot whenever you're in a Dark Age. I always hate giving up one of my valuable wild card slots for that.

I wish it was mandatory to use a Dark Age policy card during a Dark Age.
Dark Ages don't feel Dark Agey enough. I should be forced to pick a Dark Age policy with an inherent negative impact.

So now our specialists get +1 with a tier 3 building, what particular +1 does an encampment specialist get? Or a Harbor specialist?

Encampment specialists give 1 culture and 1 production. Harbor specialists give 1 science and 2 gold. Gold is often valued at half the other yields by many systems in the game.

Given the choice between giving the player an extra research yield or non-research yield, Firaxis will probably err on the side of non-research yields. Giving the player too many research yields has bitten them in the past. That's why they removed research yields from (non-Norway) pillaging, for example.

So my guess is each military academy will give you +1 production per specialist, for a total of 1 culture and 2 production, and each seaport will give you +2 gold per specialist, for a total of 1 science and 4 gold.

I don't know, I'm sure some numbers people will show me how I'm wrong; but if those are the changes, I still don't see how those specialists (and therefore Tier 3 bldgs) are really worth shooting for.

Anyone have an educated guess on when the patch will hit Steam? Video preview tomorrow at 2 PM EST. I'm guessing the patch will hit at noon on Friday then, but I'm not the one with my hear to the ground like a lot of guys in here.

A wildcard slot could be converted into a dark age slot whenever you're in a dark age.

As for when the patch will drop, mid-day Friday is a good guess, but I wouldn't count on it.

I think I'd rather see them have specific dark age dedications. Basically, give them the same bonus they have now to era score, but give each one a negative. So maybe you still get +1 era score per eureka, but have -20% faith in your empire for the whole era. Having it as a negative that you can't choose for the whole era would definitely scare you off a little more in them.

if the patch would release tomorrow firaxis would have said so. Also the start of the stream is one hour after the normal steam release of new content (8pm CET). It would be a bit weird. Why would you watch the stream if you could play it yourself at that time.

My bets are on an announcement for the date during thursdays stream. Patch comes out on tuesday i think.

unless they're waiting for final confirmation that all is good.

I agree that Tuesday is most likely but I would not dismiss the chance of it releasing tomorrow afty after the stream.

Didnt it release after the stream last time as well? Or was that only the patch notes...

That wasn't last time; it was the patch notes for the patch that accompanied GS, just after the last livestream before launch.
