Probe mission that ran out of energy?
Otherwise there should be no problems at all.

Maybe upload the save and/or some screenshots.

BTW guys, next patch is bringing in better atmospheric properties. In other terms, cones will finally not be wasted mass and cash in vanilla.

This will allow things like taking a object that is on a retro-grade solar orbit, throwing it into the atmosphere(again, kerbin and it are moving opposite directions, meaning their speed is much higher compared to the other), slow it down, and deploy chute.

BTW, that means a object going 18.5 km/s can now re-entry without being mostly massless parts.

Wow, this is the one thing I have expected to be improved in the game ever since the first paid versions. To be honest at this point I thought the current mechanics would be so ingrained that they would have to keep it like it is now.

However if doing the above-mentioned retrograde kerbin-smash I would like to see the craft disintegrate, even if they don't want 100% realistic re-entries, a good drag model should do that surely?

    So here is the ship:

Sorry for the bad angle, the fuel lines are barely visible. I have both of the major tanks highlighted, but for some reason none of the 4 nuclear engines working. The message is status: flame-out which makes no effing sense. Decoupler has not been fired, everything is still connected there.

Okay, it would appear the vessel is vulnerable to the Kraken. The engine nacelles shook apart after quickloading.

So I jettisoned the engines, redocked the CSM to the lander (DEM?), and used the return engine to adjust into orbit while drawing fuel out of the orange tank. Then I did the Apollo-style landing carrying the orange tank briefly, using its fuel to replenish the 3 tiny Rockomax engines. When I got down to around 30 km, I topped off the ascent stage tanks, dropped the orange tank, and switched to standard landing via 7 parachutes and the descent poodle.

From there, mission played out as it should have. Kind of harrowing, required cheating some experimental simulations, but overall a memorable mission. I over-engineered the ascent and return stages LIKE A BOSS, could have saved a lot of weight on this mission if I used the plugins I used to have.

I am waiting to 1.0 to start a new career. Dont know which mode to chose, since i find the full career at 0.90 too restrictive. I hope they fix it for the final release.

PD, Jool has finally a texture! Thats nice. But showing a bit more imagination would have been nice, instead of copying and rehuing a Jupiter image.

So I just heard that KSP is in version .90! The last time I played it was like .36 or something.

Need to get back in the game.

What new things have they added since they put asteroids in the game?

Two issues that drove me nuts were that my saved games were wiped out with nearly every update and that largish rockets caused the game to slow to a slideshow.

I heard they fixed the first issue, have they fixed the second?

That really sucks. I got really ambitious before I stopped playing but I got tired of the slideshows. My imagination was so much more than the game could reliably deliver at times, which drove me nuts.

Maybe career mode will fix that to an extent by forcing me to scale back things. But I'll always be wanting more.

I can't wait to see the vanilla game roll out with resources and things you can mine on other planets. That will get me playing again I think.

    This is the major drawback.

The big thing in ksp is that you can build all sort of interesting things and projects, as vessels, stations, vehicles, bases... but the engine cant handle it once you start achieving interesting things. It is sad.

i managed to build a big base at Duna, with vehicles, a spaceport etc... it took a lot of hard work only to find that it was a pain in the ass.

Yup. I put together a massive Laythe mission with an orbiting space station/fuel depot with four docked landers, a land base with roving hab units that could chain together like trains, a research station (a platform for launching sounding rockets into the atmosphere), four rovers to pick up wayward kerbals and a network of comm satellites. It was a huge, beautiful thing that was this massive undertaking for me. I loved every minute of it.

That was until I started sending refueling tankers to top off all the landers (I test-landed each lander to ensure it could SSTO after landing and then re-dock at the space station) before I sent out the first wave of colonists on a back-and-forth (Kerbin to Laythe and back) colonial transport.

The game turned into an unplayable crawl as the first tanker approached the station and subsequently I couldn't dock. So the whole effort crumbled and I stopped playing almost completely. It was sad.

And I did all this because I lost a 'first to land on Laythe and return' challenge to Warpus. I was massively overcompensating.

I remember that :D It was fun. However, you're the guy who works at SPACEX, so while I won the battle, it seems that you've won the war.

Hey now, no one's stopping you from crossing the border and taking my lead away! :p

Here's hoping the final launch of the game includes more parts that make deep-space exploration easier. I'm sick of having to turn to mods for things like bigger tanks or bigger NERVAs. Resource extraction helps and the current stock parts certainly make deep-space exploration at least viable, but so challenging as to be not as fun.

Are they still going to include multiplayer in 1.0? Or has that been scrapped?

Cause if so, all of us need to build a giant space station together. or something.

Multiplayer is something Squad wants to implement; but probably wont be in 1.0.

I'm excited it's even a possibility given how fervent Squad was in stating they would never ever ever EVER do multiplayer for KSP back in the day.
