I have to say, emperor felt much more like a monarch/prince game. starting off as frederick and going straigt for BW seems very cheap since you can conquer all of europe extremely fast since they'll have mainly warriors defending and at best archers. Not only that but the cities you'll get in europe are among the best in the map. I used liberalism to get Assembly Line, and that's cause I was tired of putting off liberalism . Also, I never realized how awesome the germans UB was until this game. +25% production and +50% production with coal? i never had less than twice the score of an opponent after turn 50 i think. I believe the end score was me ~5100 and montezuma 900 .
though I'm still up for playing one, though i might try immortal. To the end, the worst my cavs had to fight (and in the last 20 turns or so panzers) were musketmen. It was pretty fun watching the replay. but imo, i think conquest takes longer than domination.
Is it just me, or does it seem like there is a bug on earth map that lowers the difficulty? I mean, shouldn't the AI start with free archers (and the archery tech) on Earth?
I agree. I mean it's like they don't know how to play or something. I would often find Mansa with not even 2 cities when I finally took the time to go explore his territory and this is mid game. This is the only time i've considered prematurely moving up to immortal. However, in the few games I've played, it seems that the comp either does very well or very poorly. my last game very poorly
EDIT: and i believe you are right about the free archers on emperor.
