KoS4 - Something more casual (?)

Woah that was quick:lol:

Looks like you've drafted up a storm (of bullets) and Addis might fall next turn with only a Treb to defend it, so nice job with the Nappy vs Zara workings.

I'm curious as to what happened to our Mansa pillage stacks though, it looks like we lost the first one, or at least I can't find the Numidians that were in it, and the other is still in our land. Did Mansa kill it off with WEs?

I think we should try to shuffle around some of the rifles that are defending our cities at the back of our land by moving some of our more obsolete foot soldiers.

Finally, it looks like we almost have enough accumulated EPs to steal a tech from Mansa, maybe we should try to sneak in a spy somewhere in the build queues to test that out?

Nice going! :goodjob:

We can save 47gpt if we build the remaining courthouses... that really isn't negligible. It's certainly better than libraries in some cities.

Looking at power ratings, my guess:

Us: 895k soldiers
MM: 461k = 895/1.94
Joao: 461k = 895/1.94

Zara is the weakest = 144k
Pacal is strongest @7 cities = 509k

Which leaves
Nappy+Hammy

average * 6 = 2,486k soldiers, removing the above leaves...
911k between Nappy and Hammy... since Nappy now boasts some fine Rifles of his own, I'd dare say Hammy is under 2x our power and ready to capitulate whenever we go back into Bureaucracy

However, we still need more power to have double Pacal's first before doing that... I suggest:

-settle remaining cities (we already have enough land but it's added to our power)
-keep pounding on Zara, if he doesn't break away he's 2 cities from Elimination anyway
-keep drafting until we have twice the power of the second AI
-once we have enough Rifles revolt to Bureaucracy
-Beg Pacal into OR or bribe him if it doesn't work (gold)
-take a Cease Fire with MM - not Peace
-Hammy and Pacal will capitulate immediately
-resume war and kill off Zara and capitulate MM
-move everything over to Joao and kill his SoD
-win

As pointed out already:

Game is on its last legs, let's do this!

Had to go in to work unexpectedly for a couple of hours today, so I will review the save when I get home shortly and post a plan. I'd like to give plenty of time for discussion for my set so I will plan to play tomorrow evening (Sunday @ approx 10 pm EST) if that works for everyone.

Not much to discuss imo:

Draft 3 rifles a turn, 1 from GT city every turn, settle remaining cities, keep killing Zara (group Trebuchets together and go bombard his cities then tell Nappy to attack said cities -- maybe you need to give him a few extra rifles for ~3:2 odds).

Build a few courthouses where it really helps (saving 10 maintenance a turn, sure!).

Depending on whether the team wants a cease fire to capitulate Pacal+Hammy or not is the only big decision imo... but that might be in a while anyway. It's probably better to kill Zara first.

Mansa send a lot of cats on it and eventually wear it down, not before it pillage a lot.

It did it job, now I have next pillaging stack going.

One thin I forgot. Before I gift Nappy rifl I gift him 10 gold /turn.

Nappy time of research astronomy jump to 100+ turns and stay there(He did not revolted to anything)

My conclusion was he is in financial problem, so I give him gold so he do not disband units and used them.

Research time fail to 60, so My guess I was right.

Ok, well, everything sounds good so far, then if there is nothing really important to worry about right now I will play tonight instead, also around 10 pm EST (after hubby leaves for work :))

Just for clarity, you mean "propose peaceful vassalization to Pacal and Hammy".

Yeah, sounds straight forward enough.

Re cease fire, I think we should wait to see if Mansa is willing to cap to us after we get Nappy to take out Zara, then only if he is stubborn take the cease fire.

I believe Mansa lost a lot of units, he will capitulate the moment zara leave him by any reason.. (dead or other)

Interesting, I don't think I've ever had a Master capitulate, but maybe I just didn't have enough of a power ratio.

1375 AD - 1450 AD

-Set engineer in Sicca to spices per request
-Ask Pacal to revolt to OR and he does so happily
-Gift Napoleon Nationalism
-Slot in Courthouses in all cities that do not have them, some before and some after current builds depending on the build

-Chemistry comes in, set Steel at 0%
-Napoleon captures Addis Adaba
-Found Sabratha in the south by the whales
-We find out we are not as advanced as I thought we were

notadvanced.jpg

-Napoleon takes Gondar
-Found Oea on the marked spot south of Utica
-Found Malaca on that iron spot
-Apostolic Palace vote comes up - I put up the ruling to stop trading with Zara Yaqob - it succeeds

infidels.jpg

-Since Zara Yaqob's culture was pushed back when Gondar was taken, I was able to bring irrigation to the rice by Zhou in a very roundabout manner

-We can probably get some techs in exchange for Chemistry, and possibly Replaceable Parts, but I was not certain we wanted to break our monopoly on them at this time

There are 2 great people sleeping in Carthage, but my understanding was we were saving them for a golden age so I just left them there
I kept hoping Napoleon would take that last Ethiopian city, but it does not seem that he is advancing on it, even though I did ask him to attack it

Nappy just does not has units to spare,

Gift him a few rifles.
The moment last Zara city fall I think we will get chain capitulation.

Every one has gunpowder now. So we can gift Gunpowder to Nappy, let him get a few of his UU's. They move fast :)

We are more then 2 times power then second civ, so no trades until we capitulate a few.

He has a stack of 10 units 2 tiles away from the city border that he has not moved for the last 5 turns or so

10units.jpg

You can see ours on the top, yes, but he has 4 rifles, a WE, and a nice little variety of other units there, to me it looks like more than enough to take out the 4 defenders Zara has left - not to mention the 2 units he does have right on the border of the city in the NW - also I have been bombarding the city regularly and there are no defenses left.

Got it. Love the stacks of 6 and 7 draft anger :)

Looks like were cruising. Nappy has a big stack 2 from Aksum, that should do it for Zara. We'll see about vassaling Mansa then. Looks like Hammy will vassal as soon as we're at peace.

Will trade for Nappy's sugar and whip the theatre in the whale city, should get enough happy to squeeze out one more round of rifles. (Most cities besides Zhou are kind of maxed out on drafting for now).

Any reason not to kick off our GA now or soon?

Looking at the F1 screen, there are a few more cities that have room for some draft, so maybe 2-3 more turns of that then use the GA to make a anarchy-less swap to Buro.

As for other civic swaps, I think Pacifism will be prohibitively expensive and only Carthage has the pop to be a GP pump right now anyways so that is out, so we may as well stay in slavery too.

Re Merc: Currently we are making an average of 3.15:commerce: per foreign TR (not including Nappy) and 1.76:commerce: per domestic one (including Nappy). I think that suggests swapping into Merc is border line. Assuming each city has 2 TRs (not true with Cothons, they make merc less attractive if we have foreign routes) than swapping will result in a loss of 27.8:commerce: (20 current foreign TR*(3.15-1.76)) but a gain of 17 specialists. But only 10 cities have buildings that generate Scientists or merchants so at the cost of 6:gold:pt in maintenance we will be basically net equal in :commerce: and a few beginner cities will gain free citizens and spies. So having done those calcs on the fly as I was writing thins, Merc might actually end up being worth it, it will certainly be worth it as people start capping.

That makes a trade for Constitution more attractive, maybe we should invest some beakers into it so that we can trade Chem for it when Mansa gets Chem? If the GA is delayed~5turns we could probably then swap into rep while in it.

Nice going! :goodjob:

Don't know why Nappy isn't taking Aksum, perhaps it's due to lack of siege engines?

I think we might even be able to get Joao to peace-vassal... he only needs Pleased for it. Buddhism(or FR)+HR+gift will get him up there even with 3 more vassals.

If we can get Nappy to finish Aksum somehow, I think the game is over in the next set.
Gift him more troops and siege engines to see if that will convince him.

The look of Mansa's land is priceless :D

Trigger GA if MM capitulates after Zara is gone to change civics/religion at will.

Sorry about the stacked draft anger, timmy827 - previous posts advised to draft 3 rifles every turn so that was what I was trying to do, I was under the impression that increasing our power level was more important than keeping our population happy. Sorry if I overdid it - I did try to spread the drafting around and draft from cities that were less angry.
