Persia is a bit upset about the current situation since that Egypt and his Monty minion might join forces and grow larger through Songhai territories.
For now, all force are well balanced and there is no fear at short term range...the biggest problem is the arrival of the atomic era at full speed...which one gonna be lucky with the roulette? If it's me, will i use the special weapon for peace...or death? That still a long time away but who knows what will happen if the russians find a big load of uranium later while expanding near Persia?
That said, the Persians are officially guarded toward Russia and Aztecs. Neutral against Songhai(waiting for some further developments) and friendly with China. Persia suspect that his army is probably 2nd and will reach #1 in some turns.
Light and mobile forces are raising into our territories and special military actions can occur somewhere in the later era...if needed.
It's merely an invitation not confirmation. Persians need not worry. But your insult on our alliance is noted.
If Persians want to exercise your muscle Songhai is actually the better pray if you think about it. Why not grow yourself bigger if you can? Fighting for a plausible 'cause' will only weaken the Persia and waste your production.

Great Catherine, Askia has noticed that the russian assault of the disputed chinese city turned out to be unsuccessful. Maybe you need peacefully trade out this city from the chinese empress and sign peace treaties with China and Songhai?
The matter is that soon Askia will have to decide what technological path his country should proceed on. Askia can choose the path to open the UN or satellite parts. The second option is teching towards Manhettan Project. If the war lasts longer then Askia definitely will choose the second path and be tempted to use nuclear missiles on innocent russian citizens...

Catherine is willing to make peace with Songhai first, given your defense is up. Propose in your turn if you wish.

I just got my artillery. I don't think that taking that city is going to be as easy as you think it is going to be.
Russians are not invading from there. We just want to keep the military there in check and not get surprised.

Askia is glad to hear these words from Catherine. We will send a peace treaty proposal. Askia also hopes that the empress of Russia will keep her promise.
Catherine hopes the Chinese will realise holding that crap city is not worth the effort. You will not be able mine that coal, which is on the Russian side.
We can offer you something as Songhai suggested. maybe connect the coals for you and supply to you as a permanent deal until you don't need the coals. or a fur lux to boost the deal? or we can stay in the stalemate and since you have artillary the city is actually much easier to take. Trust Catherine.

The city sits on the Chinese side of a mountain range that separates China from Russia. It is the lock that closes a gate. If I allow Russia to hold it then I would be giving you the keys to all of China. You want that "crap city" as a staging point for future attacks on the Chinese empire. If not why else? IDK why my artillery would help you take it but I assure you that you will bleed for every inch. If you do invade China prepaid to march all the way to Baeijing because we will not relent.
How about this: make this no man's land. The city is razed and there are plenty of coals from Songhai.

E is afraid of future nukes launching against his capital from there. I'm not saying it makes sense, but it's the reason.
I don't have your capital revealed on my map so I can't nuke it. Is that enough to pacify you?
Hardly. Speaking from experience, E will do anything to protect his investments when in paranoia mode.

Well it would be wise for E to let me know what he is really looking to achieve, because I will tell you for a fact that taking that city is going to lock him into a war with China for the forseeable future. I have no plans to nuke any of Russia. I am perfectly happy with my empire as it stands and feel no need to expand further.
If he thinks that this is the way to protect himself form a nuclear attack then he should think about what a sub would look like swimming in the attic ocean to his north. Even if he rolls over me he better be ready to deal with all the unhappiness that comes from absorbing a large empire. And you bet your @$$ I am going to sell every last coliseum, circus and theater before he takes them. I may even pillage my lux on the way out.

Unfortunately nuke can be fired blindly and will reveal the map around the blast radius.
But I will take your word that no nukes will be fired from that city.
I will leave a scout there as an early warning. if you agree that we can make peace next turn.

I have no plans on nuking you at this time but I will not promise that I will not decide to do so in the future. I will however allow your scout to sit next to the city and snoop. I will even submit to nuclear arms inspections (give you a screen shot on request to prove there are no nukes in the city).
