This modular modcomp adds Lara Croft as a unit to the game. She is a superior firearms unit, but should be cautious toward armoured units. Of course this modcomp is not meant to be a serious addition. However, Lara is not that powerful to be a game breaker and can only exist once at the same time, so she can be used in a normal game.
The unit model as a complete polycount of 1235, all necessary animation files are included as well as a button. The modcomp works with BtS 3.19.

This unit was more wished for than really requested, but I thought it would be nice change of pace for me. In the end she was more work than I expected her to be, but I lost myself in a lot of little details. However, it was a lot of fun and I learnt some new things. :)

Credits/Thanks

- The_Coyote, the animation Lara uses for attacking was customized by him

Next steps could be Indiana Jones, Rambo and Schwarzenegger as Terminator

:goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:
A++++++

Now it's time for mod's mod - Nude rider version ;)

@ambrox - there's already Terminator, Mad Max, Tank Girl and Conan :)

That's pretty awesome, and I loved the Tomb Raider games when I was younger. :goodjob:

The texturing is great too. Usually female units aren't textured so well for whatever reason.

As always, thanks for the kind words everybody.

And don't forget the Chuck Norris unit. :D

At least for my units I was missing the adequate graphic files so far (in fact I'm a pretty poor 2D artist. Most of my files I've put together from other graphic sources that I found somewhere). For the Lara model I could use skin files of the 'real' model.

No, SL, yours are always great. I was speaking of older female units.

Thanks again. :)
But the Lara model is in fact better in some places. For example the legs look pretty good because of the new skin and I used special bigger textures for the eyes and the mouth that are laid over the normal skin of the face.

Well whatever you did looks great. Without her looks Lara Croft would only have her strength and intelligence... and those aren't the two qualities most people appreciate. :mischief:

Wooow
She looks absolutely stunning :D

Yup! My compliments. She looks like the real thing. Awesome.

Thanks for the compliments.

Those are nice shots. :goodjob: Guess I'll have to make use of the flying camera someday.
Btw, in these pictures can one of the details be seen that I spoke of. I made her so that the number of guns she has holstered differs from animation to animation. For example, in her fidget animation both guns are in the holster, while in her attack animation she has both drawn (of course ;)).

Top quality job :). 6 star job. 6th star for unique animations :)

btw has someone tried to apply a mechanical unit shader to an human like unit and used the damage texture to apply some wounds to the guy / girl when hurt?

..., but I thought for a short time about adding a damage texture to my Lara unit.

Do you remember? Don´t say something like this to me again

only attached the changed or added files - also the damage texture could still need an improvement (it´s a quick made recolored - edited submarine damage texture so far - but i still not know for sure where the empty spot must be [every damage texture zooms to one point in the center for the non damage case, this spot must be empy] - so creating form scratch is still a bit tricky). Also you must add the first line to your art defines of the unit (the second line is only there to say you where you have to add the info):

Code:
			<iDamageStates>4</iDamageStates>
			<fBattleDistance>0.35</fBattleDistance>

I guess I'll have to say many more things to you if it results into something awesome like this. The extra shadows also look pretty good. :goodjob:

I've played around a bit with the files. Can't make much out of your modification of the nif file, but maybe I'll look into some tutorials in the future. However, I could modify the damage texture quite easily. Are you sure about the zoom part? I just pasted the unit skin two times in the file and put some wounds on it, left side lightly wounded and right side badly wounded. Further I blacked all none-wound parts in the alpha channel. The result looks like this:

I've forgotten to take a screenshot of the unhurt Lara, but she looked normal to me. I've also attached the modified damage skin to this post. I'd like to add some injuries to her torso, but their look way to symmetric. Will have to think about a solution for this.

Are you sure about the zoom part?

nope :)

but at least with the destroyer damage texture and the tank / mech infantry files there was such a problem. Also Refar said something like this (and he was almost never wrong), so there can be this issue. Perhaps civ4 also works with a mix of transparency and uv change - depending on the model

Further I blacked all none-wound parts in the alpha channel.
perhaps this step did it (i´m almost sure)

last but not least, your damage texture looks great

Hi, this is an absolutely awesome unit especially the custom animations. If i was to mod this unit for personal use how would I go about removing the female death cries? (lol) Hope this question is valid for this part of the forum and once again cool unit.

Thanks. :)

Do you want no death cry at all or a less 'disturbing' one? If you have some basic experience with NifSkope I can show you where you can change the sounds units make during certain animations.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I do have some experience with Nifkscope and any help with the unit sounds and how to change them would be most appreciated. Cheers.
ha ha yes they are pretty disturbing, essentially I would like to change them to a more masculine death cry if possible?
