Leaderhead Preview: Ramses II

Updated
Added Historically Correct Ramses II
Added Hollywood Rendition Ramses II

Honestly I prefer the 'Hollywood' Ramses. If they wanted Civ to be 1--% historically acurate they wouldn't have made Joan the leader of France

First off, this leaderhead is awesome. Secondly, other than the headdress and fake beard, is there a difference between the two? Ive been stareing at them for a few minuets but cant seem to see any. Even if there isnt though, I really like this and will probably use it instead of my own

Hello psycow87,
There is a faint difference. :)

Eyebrows. The Egyptians liked to tweak them? Hollywood doesnt show it

THe headdress are different

Beard sizes

The noses, Hollywood uses more of a caucassian nose. History uses African-like

Skin colors, historical is more darker. Hollywood is more caucassian.

The white headdress is northern egypt(right?) Yellow&Blue is very Hollywood for every single Pharaoh, but I believe many pharoahs did have it like so.

This headdress isn't the White crown (Hedjet) but the Nemes.

"The Nemes Crown. Strictly more of a head-dress than a crown, and probably most famously depicted on the gold mask of Tutankhamun. A piece of striped cloth was pulled tight across the forehead, tied into a kind of tail at the back whilst two strands hung down each side of the face. The brow was decorated with the uraeus Wadjet and the vulture Nekhbet. A plain version of this head-dress was known as a "khat"."

The White crown (Hedjet) is very different.

"The White Crown - Hedjet. The crown of Upper Egypt is a tall white conical headpiece, and was depicted as early as c.3000 BC on the Narmer Palette, a mudstone ceremonial palette belonging to the Early Egyptian ruler Narmer."

I second thought.. I like most of the Historical one better than the Hollywood but I'm digging that blue and gold headress.

But it is really up to you and Swoggy, isn't it?

Both versions look excellent to me :goodjob: !

Is the leaderhead going to be a single-era one or era-specific?

@Anarki, yeah. It's going to be Era-Specific

@Goldfish, it is up to Sword_of_Geddon, but I dont think he minds a little creativity. ;)

@R8XFT, It'll be era-specific, I just need to find something the Egyptians would've used in the Medieval ages. Got some? :)

Well, historically speaking, by the Middle Ages the Ancient Egyptian people had been conquered and assimilated(and forcibly converted to Islam). So I'd give him an Arabic style headress(Like Medival Taharqa), same in Industrial Age, only with a suit. Modern Era is the most flexible.

However, if you want to represent a-non historically accurate Ancient Egypt that survived till today, Id go with this:

Ancient Age: Hollywood Ramses II(as seen above)
Medival Age: Hollywood Ramses II, but wearing wore refined clothing, possibly Golden Plate armor.
Industrial Age:Hollywood Ramses II, but wearing a 19th century era millitary General's uniform, but the uniform would be in a yellow and blue color scheme.
Modern Age: Hollywood Ramses II, but wearing a Modern Three-Piece Suit and Tie.

I guess a Poll is in order:
All those in favor of Hollywood Ramses II say "Hollywood (10 characters)
All those in favor of Historical Ramses II say "Historical (10 characters)

:)

I'll say
Historical (no need for 10 chars, I got plenty :D

What about Historical with the Hollywood headress?

But, if I'd have to choose simply based on the previews, I'd go historical.

Historical.

@Unexisted - not sure what they would've worn in Medieval times...anyone know for sure?

Something similar... but.. different... like... .clothes...?

Yeah okay, I have no idea.

EDIT: Actually.. maybe something sorta Arabic? But stick the Sphinx in the background or something. Maybe stick an Anhk on him somewhere?
