Legendary Earth Mod (LEM)

Thanks a lot for all of the feedback, images and general commentary. It really helps with balancing and developing the mod.

Let me try and respond to everyone.

Why is there a Legendary Earth I (random starting position) if it doesn't make a difference? I created a Legendary Earth I game without selecting load scenario. I was randomly selected to be the Mayan civilization. And within a couple turns, I was introduced to China. I may be rust on my ancient history, but last i checked the Chinese had no interaction with South American cultures... OR DID THEY??? DUN DUN DUN!!! lol

Seriously though. What am I missing? What is the Legendary Earth I (random locations) option for and is there a way to have Civs in their real-world locations without enabling the scenario? Thanks in advance.

That's a good point...I suppose the random starts may be totally unnecessary if all you have to do is just not tick the "Load Scenario" button. :p

Two issues:
1. Steam Workshop didn't let me download the mod. I clicked subscribe, but it won't download automatically (it does with every other mod). So I had to download the mod from this website manually and installed it in the correct folder. Then it appeared in the mods section and can be activated and played.

2. The bigger issue is: Whenever I pick epic or marathon speed for the scenario and start the game it resets the game speed to standard.
I go to mods, continue, click game setup, choose map (legendary 1), click load scenario, pick my civ, change difficulty and game speed. But when the game starts (map loaded) and I press escape the game speed shown is "standard". By the way, Legendary is the only active mod.
What am I doing wrong? I don't want to play the game on standard speed...

EDIT: Even when I edit a savegame (GAMESPEED_) it changes back to standard speed when the game is loaded. Why?

Sometimes you have to uninstall the mod, clear the game's cache and then reinstall the mod through the Workshop. In addition, the game speed is a known issue that seems to be related to Civ V itself and not the mod. I'm trying to cook up a solution, at the moment the game speed has to be changed in the Worldbuilder.

I'm wondering...

Are the CS's included random? It seems based on the maps above that Europe doesn't have any City States. In a map with no major civs, it would seem that those civs SHOULD be replaced with CS's.

I'm not sure what you mean? Europe is pretty full of civs in both versions of the map and there's really only room for a couple city states. But no, city states are fixed for each map version.

Also, I chose not to include the Greeks in either version because I find Alexander annoying and it was easier to switch out the Byzantines/Ottomans between versions.

Yeah so the chain denouncements have started to kick in, and only spain and france remain loyal to me. So I decided to mercilessly take over the world.

Theirs no stopping me now.

So is it possible to play a game where civs start in real world locations but not be limited to the parameters of the scenario? I'd like to be able to have my civ randomly selected among other things which can't be edited once you click "load scenario." thanks.

No, the civs will always be fixed in each version of the map. This is for the sake of balance. Imagine a situation where all the civs are possible to appear on a map randomly, but only 22 can be chosen, if 21 of those civs are Old World and only 1 shows up in the New World that they playthrough would be pretty unbalanced.

Now I would like a feature that allowed the human player to choose random for their civ, but I don't how to implement that as of yet.

The Steam is such a pain in the rear end.

Do I have to register my Civ 5 G&K in order to be able to get LEM?

I have installed Steam on C partition and game Civ on D? Does this have any problem?

I have installed Steam, subscribed to LEM, but that mod isn't downloading.

Please could you tell me how to get it in detail?

And how can I download it manually?

do you think you can do a map, where you have the 4 native american civs in amercia, but they can only research the early game tecs, and have to wait for the first contact to be able to proceed with their research.

i managed to block the tecs myself, but i dont know how to unblock them as an event in game.

So I'm trying to get out the next version, but I want the issue with changing the game speed to be fixed...

I tried downloading another map and that one had no issues with game speed always reverting to the map "default". I've tried everything I can think of so I really need help in figuring out what is causing this issue.

First of all, thanks alot for this mod! My love of civ is partly because i treat it as a simulator and true start helps with that.

To my problem....while i can find the mod and load itj ust fine, when i press set up game no LEM maps show up whatsoever :E

If this has been asked/answered already im sorry.

*Edit* nevermind im beyond ********/sleepy. Had actually not pressed the enable button...giant duh.

I'd like to see the mod without any playable nations in the New World. I see that that version is as yet unreleased. Can we hope for it sometime soon? :)

I agree with this. Even playing the scenario I was very disappointed to find not only America as one of the civs that was there, but also Darius who should be nowhere near the new world.

Can the mod be re-done to only have civs like the maya in the new world. And make it true to history so that they are essentially stuck in the bronze age due to a very low level of necessary resources being available to native americans?

Once I get the current maps to the point where I feel they are balanced, I will begin working on the Old World start version.

It sounds like your failing to tick the "Load Scenario" button. Otherwise, there's no other way that Darius ends up in the New World (unless you're missing the Inca DLC, in which case they will be substituted with a random civ).

Also, I will never make a version where the game rules are changed for civs in the New World. It is beyond my scope in modding.

ok that explains it. I have to get the DLC I guess. IDK why but i thought all the DLC's were included in gods and kings. I guess not. And what about not having Georgie poo leading the americas... is that because another civ was needed for balance? can that civ be removed?

America is required to balance North America, or so I've found over the course of balancing these maps since vanilla Civ V.

Actually I'm still confused. I just went to get the Inca DLC and noticed that it's Inca and Spain. But Spain is included in G+K. How come Inca isn't? Or am I missing something?

Inca isn't included so you still have a reason to buy the DLC ;)

Although not likely I encountered a problem similar to this when I uploaded a map where I had pre-selected the speed in worldbuilder under Scenario Editor. Thought I'd mention it just in case.

Yeah but I never selected anything in the scenario editor, it automatically defaults to standard speed in the scenario editor no matter what, even if you don't choose a speed.

It's a really annoying problem.

I lost my mongol save due to upgrading this map, now I'm playing as Siam, going for rapid growth and midevil conquest. I've got like 20million population in 400AD with 50 excess hapiness. But freaking austria keeps marrying some of my city states in Africa, so we may have a problem..

Good thing you can convince the AI to dow on any player with a couple hundred gold.
