Light at the End of the Tunnel

The dems control the majoity of the media now, Hygro, and have for a few years, with the exception of Fox and CBN, that is.

That's highly debateable.

btw, what's CBN? I'm not familiar with it :undecide:

Plexus, here's an example of what I mean: in the 26, the day of the virtual march (400,000 calls to washington saying 'no war' from 9am-4pm est, the lines still busy afterwards), Bush comes on EVERY broadcast station and most news cable stations to say absolutely nothing new.

When the President makes a TV appearance, most (if not all) stations cover it. That's just the way it goes.

Generally the announcements are planned ahead of time. The truth is this was somewhat of a bad example as I had just remembered the whitehouse claimed it was 'new justification,' which of course would prompt the stations to show it.

 he's one of those people who just knows how to say nothing while making it look like he said something.

no, I can say very intelligent things. I just needed to comment somewhere that he hijacked my TV ;)

btw, sween, I like your avatar, but with the "your worthless" above it it makes me feel very bad about myself :(:(

Ok I'm dumb, I just realized you were talking about Bush, not me :lol:

That was quite interesting because I heard several members of the media talking about this after the fact (I really wish I could remember, I think it was Buchanan & Press) saying that Bush's people had called them and told them he was going to say something monumental and they really should carry the speech. Now, all of the networks made the decision, rightfully I think, because they didn't want people to switch channels to see the monumental statement. After the speech, they said several network execs were quite PO'd that they asked them to kill regular programing for a speech in which nothing monumentally interesting was revealed.

But that wasn't scheduled, which kind of plays against the idea; they made the decision to carry the speech out of competitive news interest. The thing all the networks are afraid of is being left out, being the only one not carrying something important. They erred on the side of caution and it appears Bush burnt some relationships with the media on this one. Perhaps they'll ask what the monumental announcement is before they cut into programming next time.

Thanks! I liked Mickey alot but I needed a change. I think this one expresses what kind of mood I'm in now. Not just because it's Sick Boy, just the way it looks. I've been working alot lately so when I come here I just want to have fun and be a smart ass. ;)

"The Worthless" title is over a year old. It goes back to when I was a noob, terrorizing the C&C forum with constant questions on how to do things. Of course not many people answered because nobody knew much about civ3 customization back then. so i felt pretty worthless, wanting so bad to make stuff but just couldn't. why's it make you feel bad about yourself?

It made me feel bad because I read "You're Worthless," with this guy pointing at me. I read your mini description wrong, i nterpreted your post wrong.. I ought to go to bed... ;)

Graedius that is about the smartest thing I read all day. Very realistic and annilytical or however you spell it.

@Greadius- that programming gaffe must be the reason the media has finally "rocked the boat" a teensy bit.

(I don't count Saul Zaentz on the BBCAmerica British Orange Film Awards saying the Bush election debacle was "criminal" or Bill Maher back at it on HBO as "the media")...

*pops champagne*
now we need bill gates to be lynched for the world to be right again

McCain in 2004!!!

:D

I was hoping McCain would win it back in the original election.

You guys need a soldier and a real man in office!

considering McCain talked about using nuclear weapons in Afghanistan, I'd prefer Bush in (and I have serious problems with Bush).

it means pretty little, coming right before the war.
Bush's approval ratings will most probably change a lot depending on the outcome of the war. If it's fast and successful, he'll rise right past that 50%. If it's a distaster, he is doomed.
I'll be curious to see how much the economy will matter in his reelection. I fear the "It's the economy, stupid" scenario won't work this time, simply because the war will not end with Saddam's defeat. The good thing with the war on terrorism, from Bush's point of view, is that it just goes on and on...

Not me. McCain talks tough but I doubt he would have "spent a million dollar missile to hit a camel in the behind". McCain is at least 5,000 times smarter and 30,000 times less EVIL than Bush. He'd never even think of implementing the KGB style "Homeland Security", but he would Osama's head on a pike outside the White House, what people really want. If McCain says he's going to challenge Bush in the next primaries, I'm going to register as a republican just to try and get Bushie unappointed.

McCain - like Kerry- has the integrity that comes of soldiering, and the wisdom that comes from moving on to politics and seeing the difference. I doubt he would have nuked Afghanistan, but I'm certain he wouldn't have nuked the Constitution either. And that instead of facing a world full of player haters, there'd be a lot less suspicion of America and a lot more good vibrations.
