Light In The East: Civs Of The Orient(And Beyond)

Thanks for the music Hoopthrower! The war theme is left now.

Since I'd like North Korea to be our primary anti-tourism civ, Reedstilt came up with some brilliant ideas that include a UU that when garrisoned, prevents the city from being converted to a foreign religion. A part of the UA that he came up with as well: "If a City* following your Religion is captured, it spawns one Melee Unit (Spear-Units, pre-Gunpowder; Gun-Units after) under your control for every 4 followers in the city." This is also supposed to work when you capture a city, so it's offensive and defensive as well. The units are spawned near your capital

I think that's an awesome idea for a civ. My only question is are you talking about Madagascar or North Korea? A North Korea based on religion seems really odd to me so I'd just want some clarification because I'm kind of confused right now.

Though I am obviously disappointed by that you've 'stolen' an AoI civ... I'm not really. That only means it will be out quicker. :p And I kinda want to see Ranavalona done, so I'm actually kinda happy. Hope the civ will be good!

I had in my mind to do Radama(Ranavalona's father) a long time ago, but then I changed my mind. If you like, this can be a LITE-Eli-AoI thing :)

Madagascar! I should also mention that we will add a new "religion" with the North Korean mod: Juche

Would this work for wars you weren't involved in - say I spread my religion to two neighbours, paid them to duke it out - would I still gain units from cities that are gained and lost?

If so that's pretty cool, the idea in general is wonderful - didn't Ranavalona bring about an effective economic/industrial revolution, any plans to represent this?

Yup, it works if anyone captures a city of that religion regardless of the conqueror. The other part of the UA is production focused and the UB(Rova) encompasses the economic/cultural aspects along with Golden Age points. All thanks to Reed! Whose design is so awesome I have no desire to modify it!

That's a pretty cool idea, it gets around the issue that Stalin and Lenin have in that whatever religion they found will be somewhat bizarre. Reed's design sounds stellar as well, Madagascar may have just become my most anticipated civ among LITE's upcoming roster (must maintain Turkey/Indo - Greek hype).

In terms of the Sri Lanka update, is it just the UA that will be edited, or can we expect the changed to be broader?

My initial design played up Ranavalona's "Mad Queen" reputation, but I decided that did her a disservice and shuffled things around, moving some of "Mad Queen" bits to E&D support, and bringing the Radama-Ranavalona Industrial Revolution forward.

Just for fun, here's the old design. You can see how I went a bit overboard with the Mad Queen of Madagascar:

Unique Ability: City of a Thousand Spears - Spear-units prevent the spread of foreign Religions while garrisoned and gain additional Combat Strength while adjacent to Cities. Cities without foreign religions provide +2 Production.
Unique Unit: Fanampoana Conscript (Pikeman) - Cheaper to produce. Removes foreign religions upon conquering a City.
Unique Building: Rova (Castle) - Provides +2 Culture. While there are no foreign religions in the city, also provides +2 Golden Age points.

The only thing that's the same now is the UB, though its effects are different.

Nah, it's ok. We wouldn't really be able to provide anything and Madagascar was fairly far off anyway. The only thing I could do now is provide a design, but you already have that, it seems.

For the Xebec of Tunisia, we thought an effective ability might be earning gold whilst it blockades an enemy city. The unit is also a mercenary unit, meaning it can only be purchased and never becomes obsolete.

I think it could still be beefed up a bit. Does anyone have ideas?

What's Tunisia's focus? A pirate civ?

I've had an idea, I've been wondering what would happen if we pitted my Sargon against LITE's Sargon in an AI only match, from what I've experienced, my Sargon acts like a Sober Attila, in the sense that he's even more dangerous as he can, make logical decisions and walk in a straight line.

I have no idea how you've coded your Sargon AI, but I suspect it is quite similar, I want to see what happens :D
