LINES-World of Magic

Whattaya mean I'm not updating as often as others used to? I have been consistent in my updates since I started this NES! Besides, I'm still missing some orders.

FYI, I've already done the Americas. I can't start on Europe and Africa 'til I get more orders.

Haven't gotten that far yet. But for sure the update will be done sometime tomorrow, orders or no orders.

"Your majesty, the high priest wishes to speak with you," the courtier, though in a great hurry, seemed as polished as ever in his robes and jewelry. The perfume of Yemenite inscence wafted off of him giving the room a smell of mur and other rare scents.

"Alow him in, I am quite eager to hear what he has to report," his majesty, King Menelik of Abyssinia, ruler of Abyssinia, Yemen, Sinai, and Israel, was even more regal. His head was crowned with the rare Songhay gold, his robes were made of feathers of many species form the Congo, and form the furs and skins of the many animals of the savvanah. He was the king of kings, master of his domain. All bowed down to him, King of Man and Roc, ruler of both shores of the Sea of Reeds. Even hsi physicality was imposing. He was taller than any other, over six feet, with an imposing physique that made others tremble. His skin was like caly before it was shaped and baked. His blood was that of Africa and he wasthe symbol of hsi people and continent.

As the high priest entered, it was noted by the king that the high priest was the only one that neared him, although it was hard to tell because of the priestly robes of white cotton that the high priest wore. With a shaved crown, he seemed even more imposing, but even more approachable. Usually a man of few words, the high priest was wise beyond all respects. "Your majesty," began the higpriest, "your plans are going well. The rocs of the highlands are multiplying like hares. Our priests predict that their increase shall ad many more of their kind to our armies."

The king let out a deep breath of relief. He had been worried about the program, but he always worried whenever his people's future was at stake. He loved his nation so much that one flaw was not acceptable to the man. With relief, the king stated that the high-priest could leave. As the high priest left, the king said, "All ofyou, leave me, I wish to be alone for a while." The crowd of courtiers quickly left without a word, leaving only the deaf and mute servants to attend to the king's desires. 'The plan is a success,' thought the king, 'Very good. This war in the north, the one that those evil vampires insist on fighting, may be winnable after all. I fI have the rocs on my side, all is achievable.' The king let out a quiet laugh as he contemplated the foolishness of the Nile's children. They had attacked one with whom they could not deal. Soon night would turn to day and the dark nation of Khemri will be brought to their knees.
********
Long enough Lord Iggy? BTW, this is in conjunction with the royal proclomation I posted earlier.

The waves crashed upon the hull of the galley, the continuous sound of the rowing oars beating in the backround. White washed sea water crashed upon the deck, its foamy water moving across the deck, only to stop suddenly at a remarkably pristine circle upon the deck. A large, wooden throne, covered in soft furs, was in the center of dry circle, and handmaidens and quiet aides stood silently next to the Northern throne. Upon the throne was a young looking man in Chinese silks, looking at the seemingly endless sea in front of him.

The waves continued to crash upon the hull, and the waters continued to pour on the wooden deck. The young man stood, still pristinely dry, and commanded, "Stop." And suddenly, the waves ceased their movement, the oars seemed suspended in mid-air; everything had literally...stopped. Several men came from below the deck tentively, unsure of the sudden change. They were dressed in the traditional Mongolian Mage garb, and they walked in silence to the feet of the young looking man. One stepped forward, and bowed deeply.

"My lord, the one who never dies, why have you stopped the waves, and the ship? What reason, Khan of Khans?"

Temujin the Immortal didn't even look back upon the man, continueing to stare forward. He merely spoke softly, his voice carrying in the total silence that had descended upon the small galley. "It is time. Cast your spells upon the fleet," he said, waving his hand out among the still waters. As he waved, many ships faded into time, as if they had merely been waiting across space. They too were frozen, a testement to the Immortal Khan's powers as a mage, as the literal grandfather of Magic in Mongolia.

He turned to face the gathered mages around him, and his eyes spoke greatly of the long years seen by the young looking man, of all the Death and battles he had witnessed, of every possible thing imaginable he had experianced. "Let the invasion of Korea begin, and the old world fall beneath our battle cries. Time, is with us."

Min hertz, how much longer until the update?

The great Tower of Karakorum loomed powerfully in the center of Mongolian lands, a powerful symbol to all who respected, and served Temujin the Immortal. Constant supply trains with dark granite stone passed through the tower's massive gates, giving the numerous slaves and workers more material to make the already massive tower. Planks and wooden boards served as ramps for the numerous workers to gain access to the upper regions of the tower, far above the ground.

A bustling town surrounded the tower, a town of only commerical buildings. The Mongols were a herding nation, and did not believe in settling down in towns much as the Chinese did, instead using towns as military outposts and trading centers, nothing more. Still, the town was huge, taverns, brothels, any thing available to the Mongolian people, was avaliable here, at Karakorum.

Several Time Mages surrounded the Tower, teleporting slabs of Stone through space to several key areas up upon the Tower. Several Chinese Necromancers looked on in wonder at the massive Tower, made of dark Granite. It reeked of Evil, and of great power. Looking through the massive open doors into the finished bottom floor, a large Throne sat in the center of the Tower. The throne of Temujin the Immortal.

"This Tower, it is very impressive," said one of the Chinese Necromancers. The Mongolian Time mages merely asserted their agreement, continueing to teleport the granite to the loading areas. One of the Time mages turned to regard the visiting Necromancers, who hadn't been sent to fight against the Koreans.

"You can raise the dead, yes?" the Mongolian Time mage asked. The Chinese necromaners nodded tentitively, unsure of what the Mongolian wanted. "Then, can you raise the dead slaves around this tower? We have need for more workers, and even if our workers die they can work, it will greatly increase the production of this tower. Besides, using our Time magic we can prevent the decay of the bodies, and turn back time until the body is young again. Tireless workers will greatly please the Immortal one..."

At the insinuation of great rewards for helping the building of the Tower, the gathers Chinese necromaners hurried off to find the graveyard, and raise as many dead as they could manage.

Update VI- 2000 BCE

Led by their massive colony ship, the Hawaiians are racing all over the southern Pacific, claiming and colonizing almost every island they see. They have begun trading with the Vol'Kiss, but have not met any other advanced peoples, merely primitive islanders who have been pleased to join Hawaii.
(+1000 population)

The Hyperboreans have continued to assimilate the Ontarian natives into their culture. At the same time, the Quebecois are growing even angrier, and have started launching raids against Hyperborea again. Hyperborea has also sent an expedition back to its old continent (OTL Greenland) to discover what is causing the magical disturbances over the long-frozen halls.
(-50 Hyperborean Infantry)

Down to the south, along the OTL St. Lawrence river, several tribes have united to form the Iroquois Confederation, based around the capital of Stadacona. While they are not as enamoured with the Hyperboreans as the Ontarians, they have no quarrel with the people and would gladly start trading with them.

On the opposite coastline, another native group, the Haida, have discovered magic. It is a remarkably sophisticated form of Nature magic, allowing control and communication with all of nature.

Elgovia has continued to learn more about Hyperborea, and vice-versa. But a ban on trading magical goods has been placed by Hyperborea since a vial of trafe that somehow got put in with a shipment of fruits killed a trader in Ka-Commoriom when some spilled on him, causing near- instant dissolution then burning a hole in the floor. Trade has been halted until the person responsible for this has been discovered.
(Trade for 1 turn lost for both Hyperborea and Elgovia)

The government of Dur Khaz has collapsed! The mysterious jungle necromancers have finally overrun the defenders at Dur Khaz' western frontier. The mass of undead now besiege the capital, and the people have turned against their ruler. The army rose up and slew Khaz the Defiler, and utterly destroyed his body. They hope to put up more of a defence, but the army is too weakened. Few believe that Dur Khaz will survive much longer.

Avalon has made a landing on Old Hyperborea (Greenland), and was instantly confronted by the New Hyperboreans, who warned them of the terrible things that lay frozen under the ice sheet. Avalon, now aware of identity of the tremendous but distant ripples they had sensed earlier, left the island peacefully and instead brought their colonists to an island north of Gorin. Remaining on Old Hyperborea to see if they could detect any problems that Avalon might have caused, they discovered several magical seeds, planted to bring life back to the island. While the Hyperboreans destroyed them immediately, the powerful magical ripples emenating from them have triggered other magics. Deep below the ice, something has awakened.

Gorin, satisfied with their peace offer from New Atlantis, has pulled back into their homeland and destroyed the land bridge. They have begun a project, the Patriot to Dreadmire (Kentharu- Could you describe this?). It will help with the training of Magi once completed.

New Atlantis has complied with its part of the peace offer, and has pulled out of Atlantica. However, many of the people had been treated so well during their time of occupation that they didn't want to return to the totalitarian system of government they had lived under before. Southern Atlantica has pledged allegiance to New Atlantis.

Atlantica has collapsed into total anarchy. Various generals fight for the vacant throne, and the tiny remains of the army have been decimated further. Gorin, who had abandoned its plan of setting up an interrim government for Atlantica is being begged to end the situation. Avalon has also helped beleaguered Atlantica, by healing the scars of war from the land.

Germania's spread slowly continues, as forests grow to cover its land. It has received an influx of refugees from Atlantica, who want no more with the violence of the outside world. And with the destruction of the land bridge, the warm currents have ended the lengthy cold snap.
(+2000 population)

Helvetia has quietly continued its expansion, keeping out of the affairs of other nations. It has also received refugees from Atlantica.
(+1000 population)

Karthage has been extremely active in Mediterranean affairs, even more so than usual. They have started a trade route with Illyria, begun the creation of a canal connecting the Red Sea to the Mediterranean (will be finished next turn), and built a city on the ruins of the Urrian city of Rome.
(+1 loyalty)

Illyria has finally gotten around to destroying the so called 'pirates' on the Peloponnese (they hadn't raided anyone for centuries, out of fear of retribution). The seaways are now free of pirates. A package recieved soon after in Karthage was the severed head of the pirate lord. Within it was a letter from Illyria, suggesting that an official alliance be set up between the two nations.

Tripolye is flourishing now that its citizenry is not living under the constant pressure of war. The construction of a grand new capital, Kiyevgrad, has begun. Exchanges of people and knowledge between Tripolye and Ur are now commonplace. New metals are being experimented with. Tripolye provides the labour and raw materials, and Ur provides expertise and smithing experience. Attempts to attatch Voeveda Kiy's left arm have failed, for it spent too long detatched. Fortunately, this is not a terrible loss. His wound has gained him the respect and admiration of not only his own people, but those of other nations.

Ur has claimed western Anatolia and the Aegean as its own. It dares anyone to challenge its claim.

Songhai's devastating civil war is over. A republic has been extablished, and the nation can carry on as it was centuries ago.
(+1 loyalty)

Sudafrika has continued its expansion, though its warlike methods have angered many local tribes, who have resisted Arneline's nation. War is brewing.

The Khemri/Abyssinia conflict had reached a stalemate. Abyssinia remained in the highlands, and kept out Khemri only with desperate priests powering storms. Khemri's army waited patiently just outside of the storms' range. For a while, it seemed that Khemri would be repelled. But that was not to be. One night, the priests powering the storms were all killed by unknown assasins. Khemri rushed up into Abyssinia, taking two cities but being halted before the capital of Aksum by more storms. It was then, at the worst possible moment, another vampire of Khemri within the Abyssinian army revealed itself. He had corrupted the Abyssinian army, and send it against its nation, then against itself. Aksum fell quickly, and King Menelik barely managed to escape to the Red Sea colonies. His last action before abandoning the capital was to kill the vampire magically. This freed the remaining Abyssinian army from Khemri's control.

The surviving free Scythians have fled far to the east, and are beginning to build a new nation. They have brought the Tunnel Fiends with them.

The Indus empire has claimed areas further south in India to be its own. The local primitives fled further to the south. The Indus have also started trading goods with Ur.

The Mongol Horde, let by Temujin himself, has started its invasion of Korea. But the invasion was not by land, as was expected. The Mongols landed in Korea by sea, and rapidly took over the nation using the same tactics that defeated China. The Korean army, realising that it stood no chance, retreated to Japan and northern Korea. The Chinese army, under the command of Mongolia, has been very useful in Korea's defeat. The Chinese also provided the ships for naval invasions. They are willing to accept vassaldom in order to get rid of their hated enemies of Korea and Japan.

Antarctica has begun trading with the penguin kingdoms. The huge amounts of frozen fish being sent to Antarctica has triggered a small population boom.
(+1000 population)

The Penguin Kingdom of Ross has continued its expansion into South America. So far, the warnings of Antarctica seem to be without cause.

Note: Large dots on the map are majour cities. Their population grows faster, they are more difficult to take over, and trade routes converge at them. They have several other minor bonuses, but be warned- A large city far from your capital MAY become rebellious if it suffers too much at your hands.

W00t!See told ya so that those dudes arent pirates.

OOC: You forgot to draw Illyria/Karthage trade route on the map, other than that, good update.

IC:

To: Ur
From: Karthage

We can understand your claims to Anatolia but what exactly are you claiming in the Aegean?

To: Illyria
From: Karthage

Our government at this time for political reasons cannot join an official alliance with you. Karthage is commited to trade, and the only nations we can think that would pose even a remote threat to you are our trade partners who we do not want to be forced into a war with. We will, however, do our utmost to ensure that our trade route with you remains unthreatened by any outside factors and will take steps accordingly in any future war you may engage in.

To: Karthage
From: Ur

Tourism. :D

But more importantly, these islands are the easternmost point in the Mediterranean that we are going to be able to peacefully claim. The Aegean will be important for eastern Mediterranean trade, which we are, of course, a majour participant in. Anyway, they were once ours we are merely retaking our land.

but what exactly are you claiming in the Aegean?

Notice the bolded, what, not why. Are they claiming everything that touches the Aegean? Are they claiming the water's of Aegean (which would be a disapointment to Karthage, considering our free waters position) or are you just claiming the islands in the Aegean?

To HyperBorea
We apologize for steping on your fallen homeland. we did not know of the ancient poweres you sealed there.

To Karthrage
Greetings! it is so nice to meet another peacfull culture. we hear you are inturested in trade, which is something we are inturested in also.
but unfortuantly, due to internal ecinomic limitations, we are unable to begin trade with you right now. but in a century or two, we might be willing to establish a trade route with you (trade route in 2 turns?)

To Ur
Greetings Ur. it is nice to meet you at last. word and legend of your former and current might has gifted our ears for many decades. may we enjoy peace between us.

To Illyria.
greetings. it is a pleasure to finaly meet you. while we feel uneasy about the direction your magic is forming, we hope there will be peace between our two people for many centuries to come.

To Khemri
...
err.. umm.. we hope our two people can live in peace.. far away from each other. your magic disturbs us. please do not try and contact us.

Trust us.Our magic is not anything powerful or dangerous. The most it can do is something necromantic  You have more to worry about geomancers with earthquakes than us.

We thank you for leaving that that which sleeps well enough alone, you have shown great wisdom and trust. However we fear that that which the old hyperborean empire at its height could barely contain has begun stirring - and others will not be as strong minded as you.
In the interests of cooperation, friendship, and trade, perhaps you could send a delegation to our naval base on Yhoundeh (Newfoundland) as your ships seem much more seaworthy than ours.
Also what can you tell us of the happenings of Valusia (the Hyperborean name for europe)?

To the Iroquois

Greetings - We trust your new nation will maintain the firm bonds of friendship hyperborea made with your old tribes. Would you be interested in Hyperborean trade, investment and teachings? and maybe even a formal allience?

To the Elgovians

We are sure the accident was due to no fault of your own and hope our nations can continue their friendship. However due to the damage Trafe can cause (thank fate it didn't get near a magical construct!) we reaquest that a) any quantity of the material brought into Hyperborean lands must be regesitered with the Hyperborean office of trade immediately, b) the bearer must have a formal writ of authorization from your rulers and c) movement of the substance through Hyperborea will be tightly controlled. Failure to comply will result in confiscation of the material, a heavy fine, and deportation back to Elgovia. We apologise for these measures but we must take steps to ensure the safety of our people.
In other matters we hope to be offering large amounts of silver ore and crafts for sale, thanks to our new mines isouth of Tsathoggua Bay.
