@Iggy: I wonder what happened with my trade? As far as I recall, Elgovia agreed to it. I don't see any white lines anywhere? Oh well. Nice update. More bloodshed is always appreciated.

Their control system is dead, and all of the known gates are destroyed. They'll still be around, but are no longer a threat.
And Cleric, Balaeria and New Atlantis would have attacked you anyways, so you decided to strike against a different enemy than Karthage, one that would resist less. If you'd attacked Karthage, you would have faced huge militia armies.
Note: If your loyalty is really high, your people will rebel like crazy if occupied. Strategos' stories have paid off big-time, despite the fact that he asked this of me a while ago:
