LINES-World of Magic

I quit as Carthage even though I technically never joined :p

The odds are just way too much. :(

Update XV- 1100 BCE

WRAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHRLGRLRG!!!
-Sound of a New Atlantean citizen simultaneously being driven insane, being attacked by an out of control golem, and being sucked into the soul vortex.

Hawaii has begun the construction of a project, the war memorial. In response to growing corruption problems, it has adopted a more decentralized, provincial form of administration, which is working well. Expansion is slowing, the only new lands claimed by Hawaii are along the Central American coastline.

Dur Veliz has satisfied its mainland claims for now. It is now consolidating its territory and rebuilding old ruins. Their expansion threatens to bring them into conflict with the penguins of Ross.

In Avalon, the Tree of Order has now grown to its full, massive size. The Avalonian army has assisted Lord Mordred of Germania in crushing the rebels in the southeast of Germania. But the simple problem that the Germanians won't tolerate a foreign leader of a different magic type is still causing frequent uprisings around the south of the country.

The Karthaginian war has hit its final stage. Hyperborea and Elgovia control all of Karthage proper, only Sardinia and Corsica remain, but they are completely controlled by Balaeria. Hundreds of thousands of Karthaginian civilians were shipped away in warp portals to be fed into the soul vortex or worked to death in northern Hyperborea. This brutal genocide has not done as much for the economy as Illyria, Elgovia and Hyperborea may have hoped, but it has served its purpose in breaking Karthage forever. Their once great trading cities will never again hear the sound of Karthaginian music, or see their colourful theatre. And the contents of the Library of Ba'al are being shipped off to Elgovia.
(-Karthage as an independent nation, 4 eco. points to Illyria, 3 to Elgovia, 3 to Hyperborea)

Azathoth's shadow is beginning to dissipate. But no one can guess just how long that will take.

The Illyrians have had a great turn of good luck in their Campaign against former Karthage's allies in the northern Mediterranean. Constant necromantic traps bogged down New Atlantis and Balaeria to a halt, and Illyria was beginning to push back.

Then, out of the blue, a colossal Songhai force arrived in southern New Atlantis. They blasted their way through near-totally undefended cities, and before anyone could react, they controlled the New Atlantean capital of Moroco.

As soon as this happened, the nation of Atlantis sent its huge army to capture New Atlantis' island territories. They surrendered, and no blood was spilled.

With the New Atlantean and Balaerian armies split, Illyria's army has been given a chance to recover. They have relaunched their offensive into Balaeria, now lacking significant New Atlantean assistance.

Meanwhile, in central Iberia, Grenth's Curse (Illyria's spell) has begun to form again. Channeling all of the power of the Chaos crystal, it has been accelerated to a level that New Atlantis can't counter. It is believed that Illyria managed to stealthily move several Unholy Knights into Iberia to restart the spell.

But how they got it going hardly matters. What matters is that the people and the land are dying and randomly reanimating, homicidal maniacs roam the fields, soul portals siphon off life into the Soul Vortex, and even the Mighty Golems of New Atlantis are being corrupted.

It is now just a matter of time until New Atlantis falls. But who will be the one to take the prize?
(-2 thousand Songhai infantry, +200 000 Songhai Population, -5 thousand New Atlantean infantry, -20 New Atlantean Golems, -300 000 New Atlantean Population, -3 thousand Balaerian infantry, -2 thousand Illyrian infantry, -1 thousand Illyrian Archers, +1 Illyrian Economy Point)

Balaeria offers a Peace Proposal. It will give Illyria, Hyperborea, and Elgovia two economic points each in return for an eternal peace treaty.

The Welikoslav/Ur war is also getting bogged down. Both sides are tiring of war, and the Welikoslavians, now led by General Barskoy, are weakening. Their strategies are very similar to those previously used by Illyria- lots of traps and guerilla raids. While they cause significant Urrian casualties, the constant loss of territory isn't stopping. It won't be long before the Welikoslavians are pushed out of Anatolia altogether. Dragon raids have been prevented by Volhvi intervention before reaching the Welikoslavian homeland.
(-3 thousand Urrian infantry, -2 thousand Welikoslavian infantry, -1 thousand Welikoslavian archers, -20 Volhvi)

Just north of the Ur/Indus border, a barbarian nation is beginning to unify. The Medes, as they call themselves, gaze longingly at the rich lands to their south.

The Monarchy of Abyssinia has been exiled, and the people of the two remaining factions begin to long for peace. But their leadership wouldn't accept anything less than victory. This discrepancy of thinking between the two different levels of society threatened to throw Abyssinia BACK into a major conflict.

Khemri offered its services to the Republicans (southern Faction) in exchange for the handover of some northern territories. Grudgingly accepting the help, Abyssinia was reunited and Khemri left, taking what it had asked for in its agreement. Peace reigns over Abyssinia once again.

Peace is not the fate of Sudafrika. The barbarians from the north have conquered its capital, and have established a new Kingdom of their own, Malawi.

The Indus Empire has been scrambling to complete its mountain barrier. It put huge amounts of effort into completing the project, and is now nearly done (inefficiency due to rushing project).

The Immortal Kingdom has come to a rest now, content with its current boundaries. They have purchased the knowledge of Iron Age technology from Hawaiian traders.

The Vol'Kiss, with their cities growing crowded, have begun mass colonization of northern Australia. The people have been more than happy to get out of their overheated, volcanic cities to the cool region to their south. :D

The Antarcticans have increased their holdings in Africa. The Malawi tolerate this- for now.

Notes: Some countries have reddish colours much like the trade center colour. If it's too hard to see, I will give the trade center a black outline.

@Silver Steak: You sure you don't want Songhai? :p

What, you thought I wouldn't post a map?

I normally consider all capitals to be vulgar and boorish but...

IGGY WE HAVE NEVER BEEN OFFICALLY ALLIED WITH ILLYRIA AND WE WOULD CERTAINLY NOT SHIP SACRIFICES TO THEM WITHOUT SOME FORM OF RECOMPENCE.

Also how did my thing in India go? Any why haven't I expanded in veracruz and sri lanka like I asked? (For the f***ing third turn running!!!).

Finally why aren't malta and that Karthaginan city in tunsia showing the warp portal signature

Arrrgghhhh  If you are going to nearly completely ignore my orders at least say why

YOU GENOCIDERS!!!! SOMEWHERE, SOMETIME YOU WILL PAY!!!!

*looks at stats* Not in this dimension, but in another... You wil pay...

I suppose I can live with 6 trading centers ;) ...

Though I'd prefer 7 (routes with Ross, Tiss, Bikk, Antarctica, Vol'kiss, Hyperborea, Elgovia were all set up before this turn)...

And 8 would be even better (I started a trade route with Mongolia this turn).

Are trade centers going to be in the stats, or just on the map? I'd prefer the first option...

Does anyone else find the colors of Ross and Antarctica almost indistinguishable?

From: Hawaii
To: Ross, Dur Veliz

Since both of you are our allies, we do not want either of you to fight. Therefore, we propose 2 options to settle the areas of expansion in South America:

Option 1:

Option 2:

WHAT!? I put ONE thats ONE economy point into it! How is that rushing it!?

i wonder who i should i attack now, maybe Atlantis, the sleeping giant, either them or New Atlantis

From Gorin
To Lady Morgan and Morded
The Gorin people have awakened from their slumber and now march on towards a new kingdom to conquer, we shall leave the choice to you, our closest allies and some what family. The choice is between Atlantis, the sleeping giant, and New Atlantis, weaker fools of the great Atlantis. Atlantis will prove our greatest foe, and our greatest conquest, the wealth and power and glory that this conquest shall bring is immeasurable, while New Atlantis may just be the shrapening stone to our swords on our way to conquering greater enemies. Make your choice carefully, and quickly, Lord Merzan is not a patient man.

To Morded
i believe trade is in order

To all surrounding nations
Gorin wishes to trade with it's neighboors to continues our peaceful relationship

(Secret)To Merzan, Morderd
From Lady Morgan
we... Have a Plans for Atlantis, and well, Truthfully, would prefer a turn or two befor rousing the sleeping Giant. The Tree Of Fire must be compleated, and our tree ships advanced to the next phase of growth. we will send details to you shortly. it might be ready as soon as next century, or the one after that at the latest. untill then, we will Assist you in plunderign the remains of New Atlantis. all we will request is one of the citys on the western shore, if you happen to capture one. mostly as a stageing point...

To Hawaii, Ross, Dur Veliz, Illyria
We wish to Say Hello. we have noticed that you have also happened to lay claim to a small portion of this great southern continint, and wish to state our intientions for this Continint befor any Conflict might happen between us.
map22.png

the dark Green Area Is the Areid of the Continint we would like to Claim. the Light Green Area's are the Points we must absolutly insist on controling. This is due to cearting world-wide magical feilds we must control.

Such an old new world of trade routes and slow planning. I think I'll build a trade center around Perth or Adelaide.

Hey Alex, why don't you run off to another part of the world and rebuild in secrecy? Vengeance is the sweetest when applied to the same game dimension.

I believe I've been allied to Illyria, ever since they sided with us against karthage and balaeria. I sent orders that I would take Karthaginian slaves, put them to work, and sell the unruly or long-lasting ones (read: any who could organize rebellion) to Illyria to throw into the Soul Vortex.
Win-win, I get slaves that I can resell after use (as long as they're alive) and the Illyrians get fodder for the Soul Vortex.

Music to my ears :)

To New Atlantis,Baleria
From Illyria

Surrender and lay down your arms.If you do this we can promise you and your families will not be harmed.Unless you have a painful desire to be thrown into the Soul Vortex or catapulted into Azeroths Shadow or used for necromantic experiments.

To Everyone Else
From Illyria

Hands off New Atlantis and Baleria! We have bled for centuries for these lands and we shall claim them! The Alternative is opening a transdimensional ripple portal on those lands leting all kinds of demons and beast through it making it unihabitable for anyone.
If certain nations need our ports, for a staging point for something(:mischief: yes I know you said its secret Terrish, but Im trying to avoid uneccesary bloodshed)they can utilize it free of cost when its under our firm control.

To Avalon
From Illyria

As you wish,we will not colonize the light green area.

To Elgovia & Hyperborean Suzerainty
From Illyria

Thank you for the participation in this bloody war,now that victory is near we can start discussing the future.Trade routes?

OOC:Is the cost of trade routes 2 points?

You can't build trade routes now. But you can encourage the development of trade centers.

From: Songhai
To: Illyria

Here is our deal for the division of New Atlantis. We will take the cities of Gibraltar and Karthago Novo (the two southernmost Iberian cities) and you can take all of Balaeria and the rest of New Atlantis. Fair?

OK, here's my answers for your questions dis. You explored around India, but the Abysinnians of Tranvacore armed themselves very heavily, fearing Indus invasion. The small exploration force wouldn't have defeated them.

The coast of Mexico was covered with barbs. Nobody would want to live next to a bunch of crazy native central americans.

And whattaya mean 'the warp portal signature'? I assure that every city you have has warp portals, and when your project is done, you'll never have to spend on them again.

I'm curious as to why I didn't expand southwest from my capital. It's ridiculous. There is now an area that's about twenty miles from my capital and hasn't been touched for a thousand years! :p

@Silver Steak: You sure you don't want Songhai? :p

:p As much as it's tempting, I did expect the outcome, and I quit knowingly. I must say, though, that I didn't think it would be that overwhelming. No, I will not reclaim Songhai, they seem to be doing quite well on their own. Or some other player who couldn't join can now have a seat. :)

@Erik: Since you are posting here, why are you not done with the update? I believe your duty as MOD comes first. :tsk:

@Iggy: What do Ross and Dur Veliz (both NPC's) say?

And why don't I have 7 or 8 trade centers?
